Test out how shots you get ig if you're that worried about it. Rolling for the current optimal rolls for plasma gun is a real casino experience. Good luck chasing them dockets if that's how you want to go about it.

Mechanically heat & peril are the same and m2 despite not said by anyone to be used is still a powerful tool that when used at the right time yields satisfying results
One of my friends who uses plasma does use m2 and it can be used to great effect - it does bring a risk of killing yourself just like it does with psyker staffs but a careful usage nulifies that
