#veteran-class

I love opening up random chests in the slums and it’s full of drugs 😍
lmao end of the hallway it was in
there was another small chest with another celerity
meth capital
veteran will always get gold toughness from it
Brutal momentum or slaughter for the one blessing slot on psword?
Weird how Fatshark made a sword that only has one blessing slot
brutal
BM or sunder
choose between these two
I'm thinking BM because I push attack a lot
sunder is better vs mixed horde
BM is better vs pure horde
both are substantial improvements
Yeah but there's nothing more satisfying than poking a crusher's face with a power sword
2 swords with 1 slot if you count Hsword
technically there's quite a few weapons with one slot
theres even some with no slots
actually ngl i feel like the two slot weapons are in the minority
Honestly it'd be cool if they make it so that you can only choose pistols for your gun if you use power fist, and have the special action be shooting your gun
Would be analternative to duel wielding
Is shovel on veteran good
🙁
it has not done well with the power creep
strongest vet melee right now is power sword
followed by rashad
then probably duelling sword
Rashad? Axe?
yeah
DB makes DS usual lack of horde clear a breeze, probably one of the natural perfect pairs...if only DS was not so busted
I still prefer weapons with good horde clear with DB just to proc WS faster
knife is a decent complement that isn't as overpowered
more fun too imho
Yeah, thing is that knife has somewhat ok clear of hordes, but the DS mobility safety and focus on single target makes a solid compliment for the DB great capacity to clean hordes.
But in most cases most melee weapons will skyrocket their horde clear with the shotgun, something near with Knife or even Shovel is that the rending from it can make shooting at Caparace enemies somewhat not bad.
Have a really not meta build that has bleeding for it and doesn't feel so bad of a weapon
mk3
is better for single target than mk6
It is? Maybe will give it a try later, don't recall testing both mks
mk6 is usually the better option but there's some incentive to using mk3 when it comes to using a double barrel
mk3's always have those strikedown stabs that do a lot of single target damage
for vet ig, but mk6 has higher single target dps if you can PA spam
if
but you really need a delay node to make that work on a consistent basis
mk3 can do comparable single target without the need for stamina usage like mk6
Veteran and it's asthmatic lungs and you want him to pushvattac SPAM? that's crazy
Yeah I mean personally I prefer mk3 anyways
also, heavy 2 into light is pretty darn good dps
Speaking of, what blessing and perks do knife run?
and special attack + light since the light after the special attack is basically a heavy strikedown
and it's way more spammable for some reason than the special attack + light on mk6
it depends
for mk3, lacerate or flesh tearer + uncanny
oh yeah FT works well too
mk6, you can actually be a lot more flexible with
still uncanny if you're using something that leans on dots like shredders but precog, riposte or executor are all reasonable options
but if not using shredders, honestly, uncanny isn't actually as needed
i've been actually using mk6 with precog + executor when i use smokes and it's honestly pretty good for making the knife more viable as a horde clear option while still having reasonable armor damage
Just overall dps wise no, but it's got a lot of quirks that makes it surprisingly good and it's actually my favorite vet melee weapon
It's got nice block multiplier and stamina, 5 dodges, so pretty good defensive wise, it has deceptively long reach, the moveset is really intuitive (push attack for single target, heavy for high stagger and horde clear and light for everything else), it has surprisingly good stagger, and you can stop mutants or insta-stagger a crusher with the special attack head shot. And you can put uncanny on it so everything that interact with that applies.
Personally, my final note is that it is a very flexible weapon that is really good if you like to have good defense and stand your ground. Just don't compare it to dueling sword.
yeah i like it, just numerically needs some buffs
Shovel is also a fairly quick swing
Easily my favourite veteran weapon, although I don't think I have used every available weapon yet and certainly not extensively
Ogryn bonk sticks are fun too, but coming back to veteran it feels much faster to smack things. Mostly use it for swarms and then lasgun specials
I mean, in an ideal world you trade off damage for crowd control but
Has uncanny so
then you just get weapons that do not trade that off and just have both
erm no
funny how even with op blessings shovels are still trash
Melee weapons that lock you onto the enemy for too long try not to suck challenge: Impossible
chainaxe by beloved
PSA to the slightly newer players I was playing with when I was doing a clutch
Chain weapons, folding shovels, I'm looking at you
chain axe is likely number 1 on my "buff this" list
really cool weapon thats never really had a chance to shine
LMS?
last man standing
fucking 6 tox bombers spawning all at once when my entire team died from a massive gunner horde
They're just fucking tedious when they start spawning in more than packs of 2
You should try them again then
Only on mk 7; its doodoo
But mk 3 is perfect
It does; just need a build (like any weapon in this game)
i have recently, shovels can work, but very build specific
hm? I mean I'd accept being wrong I've really not played all that much in the past year but at least from memory it felt pretty good into maelstrom and felt like it got worse and worse the higher you went into havoc. Not that I mind using a bad weapon but its definitely one that feels tense to use
I use chainaxe in h40 and it slays on vet of all classes
because vet best melee
vet best at everything, never believe the doubt
Despite its limitations which is horde clear
1 shots crusher on demand in auric; 2 shots in havoc
2 shots is a little underselling it tho no?
1 shot from a chainaxe is not the same as one shot from most melee weapons
its a lot slower
With light att revs to the head
Have you ever heard of a brillant strategy one can implement in any game that involves units?
Spacing

1 shot is still a 1 shot; might be slower but still is
That means it has power
Not to mention stun on demand vs anything exept mutants & bosses
And good defensive moveset (if we talk about mk 4 that is)
I think if I'm remembering right I was mostly using the mk12
preferred the sticking on heavies even if it was the lesser option
yeah I just think time to kill is a better metric for measuring strength in a game like this where its just hyper density
No wonder you felt like the chainaxe needs buffs; 12 is doodoo
Mk 4 has light sticking; faster, safer, revs don’t take longer like on 12
Don’t think too much in ttk metrics tho; when you learn the animations of enemies & utilize the terrain and your own kit you can rev without interruption
And even if you get interrupted; bloodletter is your carry
Should always use it
Thrust is nice but on a mark that has no CC its oof
All you have is light att spam
Just like PS
ngl I didnt know that the other mark could oneshot crushers into auric health pool
I guess you need all your blessings charged
12 can do too
Its just less safe cause rev has an extra rev tick
If you think about headtaker/slaughterer i don’t use neither
I think I was running headtaker and thrust but I cant quite remember, thrust is really slow but when it does land its fun
if you've already got a build planner set out post the link pls, otherwise dont put yourself out for it as I'm unlikely to play any time soon
waiting for more content to drop
hopefully when it does vet finally gets that weapon thats coming soon and has been for a year
Ye thrust on 12 works well
Sure thing; watch your dms on discord
Didnt see it
@steep flower been running puncture/shrimp and its been fine
dunno why it would've felt off when I was testing them but
still 1 clips a DH, still 1 clips a Plogryn with red stim, might even do it without, helps with Cspawn cuz usually its not all headshots
and its funny to watch captains bleed out through their shield
been nice against other things too
Ay! Glad you tested it!
I wanted boltgun to not be one dimentional weapon purely vs bosses/twins - i like to be able to do multiple things
It can reliably almost 2 mag bosses in h40, 2 mags them with rampaging buff
Twins get 2 mag too; perfect setup as i played is to shout for buffs BEFORE their shields break - this way once it goes down they fall on all fours and give you easy access to their head; if you shout after the shield breaks they get pushed and its harder to hit their carapace helmet
Yes but they spawn without shield and i think its only the original karnak twins not LT versions in havoc
same armour layout or different?
Carapace helmet, rest is flak to my knowledge
LT’s however apparently have carapace helmet & unarmored rest (atleast according to some rumors/wiki)
This is for Sword Twin; Rinda - might be the same for LT versions

Crazy that its unarmored despite the model itself
definitely felt the increase in damage for the DoT on arb maul when I switched it from Cara/unyield to Cara/Flak specifically for melting captains/twins
yeah lmao
they're covered in armour
- unarmoured

Same goes for flamers & trapper
Covered in armor
Maniac

Why even give them 3 armor types lol
Really?
I still remember times when scab bomber was maniac
I thought flak body carapace head
Me 2; wiki says it all
they are, but most everything else is unarmoured
oh, center mass is unarmoured
whack
like
technically yes
So DoT
Yeah that makes more sense
but also
Tbf who tf is hitting "low upper leg"
Me
Can hit by accident
going unarmoured on an arb maul sounds like throwing lmfao
it already giga melts them
Get stomped bozo
Lore accurate Kyle Crane
Center mass is always responsible for DoT dmg; thats why when you have puncture on boltpistol with flak instead of unarmored you do more dmg to dreg gunners via bleed cause their center mass is flak
Nah uninteresting
Until they introduce dreg maulers
And make them infested not unarmored
its also why the carapace body rager takes DoT damage for flak
goofy ah
Tf is that attack speed
welcome to the wonderful world of shock mines bugging the fuck out with targets acquired
and arbites vigiliant
Oh that one lmao
Yeah; the only carapace thing they have is that you can’t cleave it & has same dmg resist as carapace for dmg other than DoT; purgatus psykers would cry if it would be carapace just like on a crusher

I love doing that in havoc and people just go "where is the melee twin"
its dead bruv
fucking bullied
Joseph Joestar ah ORA ORA meme right there

most annoying penance ever...
@steep flower
55.6k no red stim bolter with Shrimp and Puncture
53042 with no red stim bolter with shrimp and cavalcade
puncture do more
unsure if there is mods that let you scale Psykhanium into havoc but I would like, so I can test the full damage into a healthbar that can actually take a red stim lol
cavalcade/shrimp was leaving H40 plogryns on 15-17k?
according to the havoc database gameslantern website thing, havoc 40 gives 70% increase monstrosity health, so a plogryn would have 102k
so shrimp-cavalcade is doing 83-85k with a red stim, still insane
To my knowledge there is one
I cannot find one with various searches
The question is; how many crits were present
Its important
They have like 106 000 hp
I thought they had more than 102k too, but 70% of 60 is 42
the website can be wrong

Need to look at my footage & find a plowgryn there
When i return home that is
you had a T hammer bonk on one you showed yesterday but
it died in like 3-4 hits so I think weakened
and maybe not 40

I only play on 40
Ok but hear me out
You make power fist a full melee weapon
Need to see
So you can block push and the special used for charging a powerful punch
And if you want to use your ranged just swap to your ranged weapon
Let's avoid another grenadier Gauntlet
Sadly links are expired…
Yeah you're right I don't know why I had to stick with the duel wield
Because of the mini

It also got me thinking
An alternative option would be like SM2s
You can block and push
Special action to aim the gun
Heavy attacks automatically charge the fist
Except now you can't hip fire the gun
The alternative would be holding the heavy attack for a little longer charges a powerful attack
Like vt2s pickaxe
Peak weapon
Pick weapon*
Prick weapon
It's a peak weapon it you ignore half the shit bringing it down
Specially horde clear
It's vt2s Thunderhammer
💀
btw, any tips on what melee I could use on my brauto ExeStance build? (I need both decent horde clear and single target)
I tried mk3 shovel with Uncanny/Thrust, but the Maniac/Carapace perk combo made horde clear kinda bad, so I swapped Maniac to Unarmoured, which had ok results, but then my emergency mutie BPs were poor...
DS4 just isn't my preferred melee on anyone beyond psyker, either, due to the lack of area damage spam options to compensate for DS4's poor horde clear...
Rashad Caxe could work, but I can't afford to take the point off from either earlier stam regen or Desperado to get Trench Fighter...
What does your build look like
Tactical axe is very low point spend to very safe and decent horde clear
gimme a sec, gotta open up gameslantern for that...
Just go powersword 6 24/7/365
Just saying
You can drop that 10% rending
For Onslaught
It is a brauto after all
Always this
Fits very well on brauto builds
Onslaught would make the build too big of a pure meme build, though... (I want it to not be a pure meme build...)
I'd rather drop 25 toughness for superiority complex
Ok but 10% rending gets overshadowed by Onslaught
And you're already there
Or the node before onslaught
Just get it atp
I forget what grey node that is before onslaught but it's likely better spent on sup complex
Stam regen delay
It's the -0.25 delay
its earlier stam regen... I kept it there as a leftover from my earlier "rashad caxe without trench fighter" setup...
Don't really need that if you're going with tac axe
If you're willing to drop the 25 toughness you could get stam regen and toughness regen in Focus target too
ok, but Higui said I should swap rending to Onslaught, and stam regen delay is needed for Onslaught to be accessed...
I am honestly getting mixed messages on what to swap into what...
It depends on if you think onslaught is worth the 2 points getting there. Higui is objectively correct in that it's better than rending strikes here
But you could drop grey nodes and achieve better results with sup complex imo
Why not try both approaches and see if onslaught does anything for you in play?
This is what I do with brauto. Try your build, switching rending strikes for onslaught, then also try this
no reciprocity
It's ok
Brauto isn't that CRIT heavy anyways

However
If they pair with Tactical Axe

was weakened, with 65978hp
how does dum dum perform vs infernus dps wise? i plan on using Mk VIc recon lasgun
thinking HH + infernus
Use both
ditch headhunter? that seems like a bit of a critical blessing especially with me using shock trooper
Use reciprocity talent
Headhunter’s value on recon is quite a bit lower than it seems when u have other good sources of crit chance
Sorry don't have the numbers
But dumdum is core blessing, it's just that good and not CRIT reliant
i do but regardless, this seems too important to take off unless i really am overestimating its value, but it sure doesn't feel that way, ESPECIALLY during bossfights
thing is, i crit one in every what, two hits? how does that pit inferno despite dumdum being core
i'll go do some testing myself though, thanks
Headhunter resets stacks whenever u get a crit and with reciprocity u can quite frequently have boosted crit chance
Recon also has crit string so the actual crit rate is higher than the stated crit chance
U also don’t need to shoot at most bosses with gun
shock trooper is kinda weird to use with recon anyways in my personal opinion, because each burst/string of crits only counts as 1 free shot (in other words, only the 1st shot in a crit string is free, on a gun with firerates between "fast" and "very, VERY fast"...)
They patched that
Applies to all critical shots
yeah
i mean true but some weapons like this just have flat out more DPS
what? I guess I didn't keep up with the changes...
Against what
What’s ur melee
sure i can go slap it with my power sword but i'll do more damage with my gun and my magazine will last 2 ages due to shock trooper
i use knife and power sword mainly
they are incredible single target ofc
dare i say stupid when compared to other options
but in this case
Power sword is faster pretty sure
i don't see how HH is worse
Helbore lasgun >>> Recon
(In chadness)
Headhunter is deceptive
Do some math on what is actually does
hang on... each crit in a string (maybe, because idr that detail, but I think it does) applies infernus, right?
so, in that case, a few crit strings should get you to very high if not max infernus stacks regardless...?
Power sword is 17-18s vs plague ogryn on a hybrid setup that doesn’t spec melee super hard
Recon has <100% adm vs unyielding
5% stacks wheny you don't crit and resets when you do
So it actually has less value the more crit rate you have
I mean 12 stacks is the max I think so 3 shots alone should max it out
yeah ^ which is why i was comparing it against dum dum
yeah but this started as a convo about HH
i mean
i can give it a shot for sure
but i still feel like especially in bossfights
i'll get way less crits
Ndmg applies to all damage instances
since i usually just pop a dmg stim and weakspot dump
Nice
Infernus also synergizes with dumdum
In most boss fights u should melee more than u shoot
i do, but with veteran's weapons i certainly don't feel the need to, bolter, plasma and such, bosses die very quickly and i needn't even plan on a melee fight
thought so, will give it a shot regardless, thanks
I magdump crushers 😈
Plasma is not a boss dps gun and boltgun spends entire mag with pretty big downsides on handling
if i take bolter on any class i shoot da boss
on vet it better to go for dumdum + crit on weakspot
it chunks bosses
since it help massively with ammo economy and the crit making it keep up with infernus against bosses
Bolter on zealot thanks to throwing knife tech
perhaps, need to try myself to say for sure. i regardless get consistent great boss damage with not much ammo economy loss with such weapons, never really felt this issue even in high havoc
🤤
its perfect on zealot cause i never have to pull it out really and when i do i have ammo
and can cancel animation
headhunter? headhunter is a trap on recon las
Nah I'm good thx
Spitting death 💀
ok infinite ammo
Yeah it's my standard H40 weapon
However I'm still trying to find the Best blessing combo for bosses
Can anyone tell me the best blessing combo exclusively for bosses?
That's not even how HH works
Even if you are a headshot God at best you will get a 7.5% crit average increase for the game
You know what else saves ammo?
Less bullets to kill 😎
True infinite ammo is Helbore + Surgical + Shocktrooper
And ofc, survivalist
yeah like using other weapon
I mean do people wait for infernus burn stack to kill the enemy?
no it fucking recon las just fire
Actually yes
If you already put 12 stacks I just move on to the next target
I've seen many do that tbf
Infernus also excellent on massive HP targets where the dot actually contributes to the total damage like Ogryns, even if you hose them down
Even if you want more upfront damage, deathspitter exists
I mean
When DOT is ticking it’s like ur damaging them twice at the same time as you continue to shoot at it until it dies
Because the DOT is still going even if you are hosing the enemy
Deathspitter has a condition where you need to kill things before you get the damage buff
Infernus doesn't
How do you feel about the power falchion probably just being a worse power sword?
I'm expecting it since the weapon is top 3. As long as it performs well and is fun to use then what have I got to lose
Expected
Nothing seems to beat Psword
Like generally speaking
If we specify single target then it has 1 or 2 others
If we specify horde then same thing
don't care as long as it's decent and more importantly, fun to use
I can't wait for power sword but worse with the relic sword heat mechanic
the what 10 month wait now for a cool 40k weapon and it's just going to be a bad relic sword instead of a melta or hotshot lasgun or etc
more variety and choices = good
I unironically expect it to be more single target reliant but with better dodges than Psword
i'd agree if we weren't down a veteran weapon for so long but absolutely not when we're this far from the promised vet weapon drop
Give the power falchion PA > L to two tap crushers and we're cooking
i'm fully expecting it to be completely useable but absolutely not better than power sword or ds, probably not better than tac axe even
doubt it
One thing we can confirm is its not that haha
they're just going to re-use the relic sword heat system everyone was expecting it after the relic sword came out they're just ludicrously slow on giving it
It’s already datamined as a new weapon family
inbred power weapon
Push attack is the hammer punch from VT2
Especially nothing else will after DS nerf
his greed is ruining the economy
(But I paid for a DS skin so I'll use fucking DS)
I mean I was waiting for a long while to get death korps
AND they also added THE OTHER good DS skin to the rotation
True
Next Tuesday
they'll update the game when im busy its so over
No vet needs more good melee weapons
but i want a big pew pew
Yeah it's specifically designed to drop when you are busy

the world is against me bro
Play helbore then
Oh is it next Tuesday? Thought it was the 24th for some reason
i said big pew pew
Another PS is kinda boring i would've preferred power fist
as in BOOOM BOOM BOOM
23rd
But still I wont say no to new weapons
I feel u
Vet is never getting lascannon
Helgun pls
its so over
Vet is never getting
Normal stubber is boring
Bro if only
We'll definitely get a stubber eventually its on the sharpshooter class art
Vet needs at least 2 other good melee weapons atm
Does 40K not have something like modern LMGs lol
Stubbers are like African child soldier guns
Same with braced
Heavy stubbers are lmgs
I would like more ranged over melee but I do want iconic melee added
i should have specified heavy stubber tbh
that's what i want
big fk u PEW PEW PEW gun
Wouldn't hurt to buff or rework chainsword so its actually viable
nuh uh
That would add to better variety
I want a braced bolter
Vet’s current ranged selection is decent so I’m not rly pressed on that front
Not an ads one
But vet’s current melee selection is down horrendous
im surprised we dont have more bolter varients
its THE 40k gun
but we have 1 version only
true
We do, they got scrapped

but they know giving us more bolters would make rejects far too powerful
Code for their damage profiles still exist in the publicly available DT code
did the code specifiy what they would be like exactly
there's 10 trillion bolter varients
2 other variants of spearhead boltgun
2 other variants of plasma rifle
They scrapped a lot of stuff
I agree current melee weapons need to be buffed as well like shovel and chainsword
Bc while I dont mind another powersword idk how differently it'll perform to the current one to make it feel unique
I don’t care how they do it, either by massively buffing existing weapons or adding new weapons, but we should have at least 5 good melee weapons (excluding DS & knife) per class
they can do it by finally making chain weapons goated
Yeah if chain weapons weren't garbage thatd be great
Shovel feels underwhelming even if it is usable
chain weapons deserve to be in a much better spot than rn
At least bolter is good now
It’s funny how so many iconic weapons were trash
Many are still trash
ilas, all the chain weapons, thammers
chainaxe is fine now
much better than chainsword because how the revup attack work
the damage is more evenly distributed so even if you don't do the whole thing it still good damage
meanwhile chainsword does very low damage tick then massive one at the end of the rev attack
not sure if evistrator works exactly the same way but i always do fotf before the last tick
it could still have some improvements
though the one that pisses me off the most is the ilas
ay; found a clip with a real plowgryn; 102 000 hp
https://cdn.steamusercontent.com/ugc/16329889545460599994/DF53FB8E1A2E257735888A3DF7A5E0116F58824F/
their whole thing is they have a fuckton of ammo and they shoot lasers so they would be really stable when firing, plus being pretty lightweight
and they fumbled all of these 😭
well except for the short one
lasguns canonically have no recoil; only training las weapons have artificial recoil function to them in order to train the guardsmen... so ye; we are using weapons meant for training

the effective ammo count is deceptively low, the sights bounce all over the place when firing, and its mobility stats are worse than the bolter
sound like skill issue
how the fuck does the lasgun lose to a bolter in mobility
Tbh ilas IIb is actually a decent weapon and the IX used to be king
Its just the recent shift to the H40 armored elite death balls make them pretty poor choices in the current state of the game
Gunners not being as threatening as havoc 1.0 is also part of the reason
they still dont feel good to use and dont portray the source material in any accuracy
other than the short one again
they completely fumbled the ilas
Well the VII and IX definitely fell off thats true
I also feel part of the reason ilas feels underwhelming is bc recon in its current state
IX ironically the best at dealing with cara (still shit at it)
ye the recon feels more like what the ilas shouldve been
If you damage max the IIb (exe + MMF with both rending nodes) you can nearly 1tap every enemy youd want to in auric, but you still need to actually aim shots whereas Recon M1 just paints the general direction with bullets and kills everything the ilas would've killed anyways
actually good mobility, extremely high ammo count and pretty much 0 recoil
Recon is probably a tad bit overtuned as it is tbh
But there's far worse offenders out there like rumbler or pyro stuff
recon only flaw is that its a bit boring
u just pew pew pew pew
but doesnt require any aim
Yeah its just a bullet hose
bullet hoses are fun when they're unstable asf
It probably needs to have its effectiveness at long ranges tuned if the ilas wants any relevancy as a weapon
recon is laser accurate pun intended
Whether thats recoil or spread
the ilas also needs some improvements
Yeah less recoil, better flak adm, and a bigger hitbox on the laser if you ask me
also better mobility and ammo
Wouldn't say no to either of those things either
IIb has some desirable mobility perks like instant sprint to fire
IX needs some huge damage buffs too imo
i dont mind it having better mobility than the other two marks
the silly flashlight could be replaced by a power level changer. you know, more damage and rending per shot at higher ammo costs per shot
but those two should have better mobility themselves
Hot take
would be nice too
using the entire mag as a makeshift frag
overloading packs make them explode and Guardsmen are known for utilizing this
i like the power level changer idea more
and again they 100% should get an ammo buff
Inf las needs way higher damage
get rid of the stupid gimmick of each shot consuming more than one ammo
Most weapons don’t need ammo buff
U can circumvent the need for ammo buff on most weapons by making them hit much harder
Ammo economy is basically always secondary to dps output
Get rid of reverse damage drop off 🙏
but if any weapon deserves to have an absolutely ludicrous amount of ammo its the lasguns
and rn outside of the mark 2b its actual ammo count is really underwhelming
only mark VII is underwhelming imo. mark IX is fine ammo wise
It’s not that bad
7-15m inverse falloff
36 effective magazine size and 240/212 reserve depending on which mark
I think it just needs to hit significantly harder on almost every enemy
Especially flak and unyielding
It also needs better blessings
that too
I just don’t think it should exist in this game as a concept lol
Nah it’s ok
Some enemies u just don’t engage with gun at close range often
funny bug haha
And it depends on how big the discrepancy in damage actually is
Reverse damage fall off doesn't make sense to me anymore
Just make it hit the same at all ranges
Its not like youd try and keep your ilas out in close range anyways, would just make the gun more consistent
I mean why penalize the player if they want to do gun kata with an ilas
Esp in DT where most engagements are CQC
I think it’s ok as long as the discrepancy is not absurd
Removing it wont fix the guns problems but it just seems like a useless mechanic currently
It makes sense for guns that are supposed to be close range falling off at long, but short range ilas is already bad bc of the nature of the gun to me
It’s not a useless mechanic rn. It’s just making the gun all that much worse.
how much does it even affect the damage
Depends on how you build but in auric it will be the different between 2 shots vs 3 shots to kill
For IIb at least
Its not going to matter all the time since you're often not firing at close range anyways... but why bother making it inconsistent vs just keeping consistent
What if there are no breakpoints? 😈
Recon wins every time
idk i dont see reverse dropoff being as much of an issue as the other stuff holding the ilas back
Problem with Ilas is rending
Why tf is a LASER having trouble penetrating armor?
So you either 1 shot (1 shot breakpoint)
Or just doesn't damage the target at all

i mean that is canonically an weakness of most lasguns
iirc
I don't think the Helbore has that problem
most lasguns
Ye thats fair
Just saying that there is a lore precedence for lasguns struggling with armor
Also that is far from the only problem with them
what game are you playing ?? game is like 80% ranged, half of which are on unreachable ledges, and the rests are specials
CQC doesn’t mean you’re not using your ranged weapon
There just simply aren’t that many open spaces outside of specific areas
Most of the time you’re fighting in corridors of some sort
Also there’s a reason why your melee is your primary weapon
Not your gun
dude all i get are specialist horde
and snipers/gunner on ledges
thats it. thats the whole game at this point
easily 100 bursters per mission
50+ snipers in civi
Me when Shock Trooper Gauntlet
its literally only specials
and gunners
mostly ranged isnt even a maelstrom. its just the default setting
🤔
If you think this game has too many ranged that's a clear sign that your team is not clearing shooters
Or doing a bad job at tying ranged in melee
Or maybe the entire playerbase forgot that supression is a mechanic that exists
yea im not sure wtf theyre doing
TBF most pub teammate are only good at killing shotgunner groups in melee
they were good for getting the revive penance done but that was aeons ago
95% of it doesn't interact with suppression mechanic because it's pretty whatever mechanic
Reliable on some weapons
💀 on another
ur pubs kill stuff ?
mine mostly just die and leave
at least the bots feed me ammo
AKA good at killing cooked chicken in a plate
the ones who dont leave mostly get on my case for picking up plasteel when theyre all dead

And i thought the Arbitrator is going to take care of it. Oh well.
i die a little inside whenever i see those complaint posts on reddit that are like "my team wont let me scrounge around every single chest for plasteel 🥺 aita 🥺 🥺 🥺"
like bro if you're in need of resources just play like 1 game of havoc each week
doesnt even need to be high clearance 😭
I mean it depends
I consider it a pretty good habit for the team to look around and loot chests for resources ammo and stims when the intensity drops and not much stuff is spawning
At the same time it's crucial to have the skill to quickly pick up stuff mid battle Naked Gun3 Leslie Nielsen style
obviously yeah when the chests are in the main path I go for them but I'm not gonna be like
going down every hallway or anything
Played so much Havoc alone that I forgot you could actually find plasteel and diamantine
oops
Good thing you're playing vet then
I havent concerned myself with resources since 6 months after launch
Im so overloaded with mats
Is time to lay off your duty
Go do other duty
You play darktide bc you want an enjoyable pve game, I play darktide to repay my service to the god emperor. We are not the same
I play darktide because i am too dumb to quit...
vnoice
Krieg guardsman spotted
I have nearly completed 10 auric missions without being brutally murdered penance.
I have one more mission to complete but I'm too tired to continue.
Does scattershot not show up on your buffs
i can see deathspitter but there's no indicator for scattershot
Should but buff bar is also buggy as shit
probably cuz it's modded
good; rest pal & claim victory later
:3
Do I use Chain axe
Why don't you is the real question
Has dt been extra buggy lately?
Im on console
No matter what i change my weapons to I spawn with my original loadout
Regradless of meat grinder havok or normal matches
My loadout wont change from plasgun and chainsword
Neither does my profile frame
what do you take for blessings on rashad axe? I already have brutal momentum
I always take crit
Rashad Combat axe takes Headtaker + Brutual Momentum
So my grenade and mouse wheel select function just stopped working in the middle of a mortis trial run and almost cost the run. Anyone else getting hit with that?
am I unlucky or is Stub revolver IIA no longer in vets kit? I ahve all ranged wep unlocked but im not getting it
select the weapon in your inventory and click "marks"
Whats the best blessing for plasgun
The blessings descriptions don’t explain much
iirc gets hot + blaze away
shit i knew it was rising heat
weird

I feel like it might've been triggered by an indulgence I took during the run maybe but I wouldn't know.
I took whatever the one that made it so that your grenades give elemental dmg debuffs for dudes and after I got rescued at some point it just straight up wouldn't work.
Which steam guide is this? Figure I ought to just review some things.
its probably path's
yeah
it's not released yet
i just stitched together snippets he bestowed upon us undeserving plebs
the older version of the guide is in the pins though
and is still motsly up to date
the hammer guide I'm guessing?
yup
Thanks lemme bless plasgun rn
Wha does focuses cooling do
60% cooldown on crithit?
yea
damn
Defences
Does defence just not do much
It’s not super relevant for this weapon specifically
how much of an impact does dumping defense have on PA spam 🤔
guess that could be an issue if you're PA spamming
isnt shovel push attack the stab
i see
mk1 is the best
What would yall say would be the best melee/ranged combo for just a nice, generalist veteran?
bolter power sword trust trust trust
I hate every melee on Veteran
recon and toothpick
I was thinking Recon/Vraks or Heavy Las Pistol and Tooth Pick/Power Sword?
power sword or rashad for melee
gun of your choice
toothpick lacks horde clear
though obv very very strong still
yea but you got shout n grenades for that
it can work with specific builds but it's not good rn
yea it is
what about axe?
it depends on the difficulty you want to play at
theyre ok
it's perfectly serviceable like auric and below
Whuh
tbh id say go with toothpick or pee sword if youre unsure of yourself
psword requires more practice to play
vro anything works auric and below
rashad is just a brain off destroy everything all-rounder
I misread, mb
okay am i
stupid or
how tf is rashad an all rounder
when it's combos are exclusively strikedown
how does it have more horde clear than toothpick?
BM
because it has brutal momentum
DS has the worst horde clear in the game iirc
the knoife in question
headtaker
BM + Headtaker?
yes
ill try that then; and then is the Las Pistol solid for an all rounder wep?
When I was using it while leveling it seemed generally moderately effective against anything with a pulse
casually clearing 50 bruisers
caxe is night and day without brumentum
if you don't have brumentum, or if you do but fail to meet breakpoints
it's fucking trash
if you do have brumentum and meet breakpoints, it's god tier
I meant las pistol with this
yeah it seems like "Ol' reliable"
Unarmored, flak, carapice, does deece damagae against all
at least it seems like it
at least its not the IIIa club
Okay, so current goal with vet
get Combat Axe + Las Pistol mastery to 20
get BM on C-Axe
you only need tier 1 brumentum on caxe tbh
though obviously doesn't hurt to get higher tiers once you have it
yup
rip
i thought i had a perfect combat axe
but its a 60 mobility tac axe
not a 60 movility c axe
Good perks for CA?
HT BM
I just realized
every wep in my inv on veteran has a min of 78% mobility
im gonna cry
what weapons besides krack nade can kill crushers in 2 shots
whats the build for that
i'm guessing it involves 15 stacks off mmf
Only 10
You just need the rending, not the damage
Otherwise it's just mmf and exe stance
lol ic
with precog + uncanny i think ds can oneshot auric crushers on crit, probably not in havoc though
Does the plasma on vet need the exact dump stats as stated in guides, or is there a margin of tolerance in thermal resist and charge rate
the dump stats listed are estimates anyway
because the exact perfect stat is a decimal of some sort
i run 70/70, it doesn't matter
Ah neat, thanks. Best i got now is 60 charge rate so i'll reroll. One more thing
I know the shovel is not the best but regardless i want to make a build for it
Thing is
Why do people tend to put the mk3 last?
With its heavy strikedown i'd think it best
really bad horde clear
Since well, it actually does something against carapace and decent against flak
Albeit not amazing
I see
if you want somethign that shreds crushers, might as well just use power sword or DS
Oh no yeah that's the thing
I have all those but
This build will be shovel specific
So, mk2?
I believe that one has better horde clear while still having the head fold
Must have forgotten the names then lol
Blue one should be mk7
Mk1 the wooden basic one yeah
That has really good horde clear but, nothing against crushers and the like
So, i guess i'll bring a bolter
it actually does ok against crushers
but you need to spam PA
Good to know though thanks, i'll try once i'm home
and i take it with kraks
for crusher and bulwark blobs
and bosses
because shovel suffers against all of those lol
Real unfortunate that the strikedown is the worst, the green matches my cadian 🥲
Yeah
mk7 with the strikedown is ok
Lemme see
Ah i remember this one
Hmmm
I'll try all 3 regardless but good starting point here
Thanks
MK1 shovel gang
Worst shovel cause it gets you stuck in flip mode too long
Uncanny strike
Cause they don’t build it proper; skullcrusher & decimator and you’re set
Its mk3
And no don’t listen to the idea of mk7 being best; its flip mode upon strike gets you stuck for long and you can’t cancel it in any way, can’t even dodge which is the main gripe - and since you will be fighting more than 1 guy you put yourself in danger everytime you use it.
If you wanna use the flip shovel use mk3;
Carapace & Flak
Decimator & Skullcrusher
You’ll see how potent it is once you try it
Alright mate thanks, i'll give this a shot back home
Possibly a dumb question, but when I tag something (e.g. a boss) with focus target it gains a yellow outline, and if an arbi tags the same thing to make their dog pounce the outline goes back to red. Is my focus target still on the enemy, or does it fall off and need to be reapplied? I feel like it's still there but am not sure how to tell
It is still on the enemy
it goes to their purple yea but if you're concerned it doesn't consume new stacks when you reping the target
so you can ping them again to make them yellow, overriding the colour change from arb doggo ping
but its still on regardless, they just need a way to have both on at the same time lol
its more visual clutter but I'd rather them have 2 different skulls on the top, one for each mark on an enemy than just turning off a colour mark to have another
or they should just make dog ping client side or something,
Cut the coloring in half
OR
Implement icons above the head of a tagged boi stackable
Every frame randomly pick a ping colour out of the stacked ones
lmao
So
This on mk7 will have better horde clear
Mk7> mk3

It will cause heavies are identical to mk1
But flip is dogshit; and in general chaf ain’t the problem; its what comes with the chaf
The fact you cannot interrupt it by dodging away makes it dogshit + its time being stuck
In comparison to mk3
can weapon swap if it kills
IF it kills
Still a very long time on strike; thats its main issue really
Chain weapons had same problem years ago & they removed it from them
its still terrible they just remove one of the jank
man, vt2 bounty hunter is scratching that weapon specialist veteran itch
i can't decide which is more fun. vet is definitely a lot tankier tho
Gotta block my friend the U5 got arms of steel
yeah, but bh has 120hp and no DR
well, the "weapon specialist" build has no DR, because the automatic reload is on the same row as DR
Is it OK if someone sends me a good build that will help me survive damnation? Thanku
Anything can work on that difficulty; all that really matters is skill
I'll be real with you, no build is going to save you
Rip, but thanku!
Gotta understand the fundamentals
This is kinda the rutt people who start this game get trapped in. They have no idea what to build, because everything seems equally terrible 😔
How should I use the Helbore
Ok so, you aim and fire
Use melee
Melee
Actually the Helbore doesn't seem to play that differently to Plasma or Revolver
I see a specialist, I pull out my co...., and I start blasting

It’s more backline than those two
Yeah I'm thinking I should start yankin out the plassy
I can't lie I feel the most
usin helbore the way I do
I do consistently hit heads and keep an eye out for the most annoying enemies
Namely the flame grenadier and trapper
is it too far from what would be considered optimal for the dump stats? or should i keep this one
Yea it doesn’t get the optimal thermal stat
Optimal is 68-69%
If you’re low on resources just go for one with fully dumped thermal
so, 68-69 for it and charge rate be the secondary dump
I think you can pull out helbore faster if you just aim immediately
Charge rate is not dump
i mean like
how do i put this
2 stats will be inconsistent
thermal and charge rate
80 80 80 something something
these should be thermal and charge rate right?
Charge rate u want as high as possible because it makes prefire delay shorter
Thermal u specifically want 68-69% because going above doesn’t make your gun be able to shoot more until u have to vent
i see
And going below means 1 less hipfire shot until vent starting from 0% heat (7 vs 8)
makes sense yeah
This is one of the only 2 weapons that want a super specific distribution that actually matters
prob ripper shotguns
Ripper gun
i see
down to 150k ordo dockets
i guess it's just not happening today
found a 60 thermal res though
good nough
So. I’ve never made a plasma gun vet before. Never even used the weapon!
Are there some builds anyone could suggest?
Depends. You want to use it as main weapon, or secondary? Which threats do you want to suppress with it?
Luckily, the Plasma Gun does not care. You can just bodyshot everything and it dies.
Or so it seems to me sometimes with how Veterans use it. 🙂
Main weapon I’d say!
side weapon
just whip it out every now and then to snipe a special
you should still aim for headshots just FYI
Of course.
Iam exaggerating.
And don't forget to cry out for ammo every time you shoot something that did not need to be shot so everyone knows you need ammo.
That was a joke.
Be mindful what you shoot, Plasma Gun is ammo hungry
survivalist moment
Alright! I’ll be mindful. Is there any point of charged shots or single shots are fine?
no reason to use charged shot
Whats the best build for Veteran?
It’s not like zealot where there’s a best build
But voice of command is the strongest ult
rest can be whatever but this is the most consistently good start to a build
