@carmine zealot This 2015 version could have, by Gav Thorpe's admission, been called "Nocturne", but was never official.
And, as it would turn out, GW made it so that Vulkan, Primarch of the Salamanders, would work on this type of armour.
his pauldrons are everything to him
What is in there i wonder.
Guys I need to do a Krak grenade kills penance, what's a solid build for someone who's still finding their footing in aurics/havocs so I can get my penance done while playing the higher difficulties?
Also if I get to Havoc 40 myself some day, does it drop me back down at some point, like each week, or am I just forever on H40 after that?
You will stay at H40 until .. some point.
I don't remember exactly what point that is.
Okay, for like a long time at least.
just kill literally anything armored with them
even flak armored stuff
Is it true the weekly reward is the same regardless of which tier you complete? So just participating is good enough for resource gain?
Gotcha. If I complete it on someone else's H40 I get the max, or must I myself be H40?
I don't see anything about this on the Havoc screen, just says I get a box, doesn't say how much.
That would count.
Aw, it's less? Someone told me 25K of each. Damn.
Rather, your prospect of easily clearing a H40.
^
Oh I've cleared H40 about 5-6 times already.
Well then, good work.
Yeah. I found some folks on this server who were willing to give me a shot.
Died a lot first two missions, but they told me what I'm meant to be doing and I eventually got the hang of out and they said I was actually holding my own, apparently I even did some clutch saves.
Definitely gave me some confidence, I'm doing more aurics now casually.
It's still pretty sweaty though, feels like I get a new gray hair each time.
Kind of understandable really, H40 is a lot about teamwork.
While Auric.. most of the time.. is not.
Yeah I was worried I'd just be getting carried, or wasting the team's time by making them wipe constantly. They said once I go back to auric, I'm going to feel like a tank in comparison.
Just don't become complacent.
In what way?
What's a good combo for the PS Mk6 vs ragers?
Light spam
Stagger them
And cleaves
Those the unarmoured ones? I light spam since it staggers.
Gotcha!
Just need to make sure it’s powered as always
AHA
I FOUND IT
Yeah, if one blindsides you it can get a bit hairy trying to power it up.
What's the usual play in that situation if my shout's on cooldown?
Thought as much.
@formal hamlet The same as always. Shout or not. Having to rely on the shout is bad.
Toss a frag at my feet and accept I will take some damage?
it means you use shout as a crutch.
Depends on your weapon
If psword
Just special light

#DARKTIDE
Yeah specifically with power sword, so just tank some damage and get it powered up to kill, got it.
@ember nest Good for finding it. Interesting.
yeah whatever is going on it's not the first time this specific warband has encountered or spoken to the aeldari
We getting Eldar DLC yeah?
who knows
ratlings were talked about a ton but
nothing
arbites were mentioned once as holding wolfer
arbites
your guess is as good as mine on that front
I need to google how Arbites is pronounced because every YouTuber says it differently.
Ar-bit-eez.
I figured it was something like ar-bit-ays but apparently not.
it is
it's based on the word arbitrator, arbitration etc
and they're pronounced ar-bit-tray-tor and ar-bit-tray-shun
Yeah, those I know since they're just regular words.
give it a few years when they're renamed to Arbitratum Criminalus
Welcome to JamesWashshops pseudo latinism. Funny thing is, that, depending on social class, time and region even the ancient romans couldnt agree on a common pronunciation
Arbitrator is a loanword from latin. So youre supposed to pronounce it like an ancient roman person would
ill just ask my next door ancient roman
...he says i should kill all germanics
yeah im gonna disregard that
You can try. I'll meet you at the limes
There are more than a million worlds in the Imperium of Man and thus a myriad way of pronouncing it.
Every single one of them are correct in their own way just like languages on our world differ even if they belong to the same family.
I sure as hell wouldn't be able to understand someone speaking pure bavarian
Even tho it technically is german.
Well, they did come out and said they wanted the pseudo latinism way but then again, they also want me to pronounce Lieutenant as leftanant and i'll be dead before i do that.
Its called LEUTNANT
Its a different word for the same thing.
But only my pronunciation is the right one. Von Clausewitz said so
💀
Still wild that the official language in 40k is latin
I see, my Landsmann is completley impenetrable regarding my humor
High Gothic. Low Gothic is English
people who speak high gothic: No one, not even primarchs
The eldari do
people who speak low gothic: Everyone including the fucking xenos
@plain osprey High Gothic is High Gothic and Low Gothic is Low Gothic.
Low Gothic is not English.
It is simply presented to us in this way so that we can understand it
And of course so that GW does not have to make a compendium of what Low Gothic actually is.
🤷🏻
Ive heared lore channels say that high Gothic is latin, low Gothic english
I dont care enough about it to make a comprehensive source analysis
Those Lore Channels aren't accurate enough.
🤔
Mine is as stated above
As long as it does not contradict or violate official material, yes.
Until GW actually comes out with a definition. Which they probably wont
did they get rid of the mortis trial ability where if you kill enemies in executioners stance you don't consume ammo? i've played 10 consecutive matches and haven't seen it
I guess you got unlucky.
insane
Might require you take a specific path
I would check games lantern
It's good to know that no matter what age it was, someone was arguing with someone else on how something is pronounced.
Welcome to humanity 🫠
So with power sword does the rule of dodge > block still very much count? I hear it has less dodge distance and such.
for general horde clear I'd also like to know, is the Achlys or Scandar a better better?
Yes but you push more
my Helbore is my elite yoinker
Mk6
preciate ya
Achlys?
yeah, Achlys is the 6, Scandar is the 3
I don't think I've ever used anything but the mark VI since day one.
Wonder how the other one feels.
well considering just about every build i've seen on gameslantern utilizes the 6 and not the 3
havent used mk 3 in ages
i'd say it's outclassed
no reason to use 3 really
Yeah
What's the main difference?
Fun but straight up worse
no awesome push attack stab
Oh damn, yeah that's big.
honestly forgot what the one upside to mk 3 was
The power of whipping it into their head is a statement though
I do Sunder PC on it when I play Mk3
Mainly cause id rather keep them staggered seeing the downtime is
Noticeable…
well it does have an ok PA stab
JUST GIVE ME A FUCKING DUMPSTAT MOBILITY POWER SWORD
FINAFUCKINGLLY
why would you want a dumpstat mobility power sword?
main things are: worse horde clear due to dependencies on heavies (lights are usable but the angle is worse), no hidden sprint efficiency buff, can't block cancel, and worse PA single target combo
for all thta
you get the ability to charge while sprinting
Yeah isn’t it cleave targets? Or is that just mk6
it still slows you down anyway iirc
dunno about mk6 vs mk3 in that regard, just that mobility by far is the biggest issue with any of the power swords
Yeah that’s what I was thinking
it is their 1 weakness
especially in high density situations
mobility and the charge up but the latter can be lessened with block cancelling
wait so
Fuck 😞 I feel bad
cleave targets
like every single other melee weapon
it's cleave targets
No
it's not mobility
cleave targets doesnt really make you cleave more. so you dump it
i mean you can dump mobility, it's just that cleave targets is the better dump...
chat.
Defences is a better dump stat than mobility anyways
In fact, mobility on the Power sword is one of the few examples where it is actually somewhat beneficial 💀
Mk3 is slightly and I mean slightly behind on everything that mk6 can do
Except mk3 might and I mean might deal with pack of ragers better because of sunder + perfect horizontals
i have had a had a dumpstat cleave targets power sword
for ages.
and i thought it was subpar.
congrats on setting fire to dockets
i'm touching someone.
you have alleviated yourself the burden of having things
The best way to figure out what dump stat to take on a weapon is to just read the stat values in the information menu
Just so you know Duelling sword also is the same, dump stat is cleave
I’m sorry but no
Cleave targets
Cause the difference is literally .3 in powered iirc
something like that
PS also has pretty bad mobility so any amount does help 😭
absolute dogshit mobility
combined with how slow it is to operate, makes spacing a real challenge when in melee. which is compounded by how the vet cannot trade at all in the higher difficulties
Basically with PS you have to balance pushing
4 dodges
And whatever frag you have to ensure you don’t get obliterated
VOC also if you’re running it
okay so i'm bad at finagling how to properly melee in situations, when to block/dodge/push
i checked games lantern and it doesn't give a specific path. i only see that it requires executioners stance.. i guess fatshark just hates me
is it generally a good idea to do a couple of lights, block and push, couple of lights, etc?
i got that in 100% of cases where i had exec in mortis recently
like, 7 matches i got it 7 times?
I am loving the boltgun for the veteran but I recently unlocked the plasma gun. I am trying not to spend all my money but is it a good purchase?
i'm on 12 consecutive runs without seeing it
Lights push once you’re out of powered repeat and dodge when only necessary
You can block cancel the start up animation on MkVI by tapping block
MkIII cannot
Yes plasma gun is good

plasma gun is sick
Oh sweet theres a anointed plasma gun for sale too so that works : )
One of the best guns on Veteran
It is but the perfect stat distribution is gonna be very hard to get
Especially with limited funds
Just go 60 charge speed for now
Any good melee for dealing with metal targets up close? I am finding the catachan sword which is great for unarmored isnt really doing anything to armored foes.
Yeah the devils claw is pretty sucky against anybting that’s armored, power sword is the best all around vet weapon rn and its great against Carapace
Combat axe is also good
Duelling sword and knife yes but the crazy mobility they have can be a crutch
I am getting my ass kinda wooped in Auric hi int, when the they just come rushing at you i feel like after using up my bolter i just don't have the stamina or dodges to kite and kill everything :/ frustrating
I dont want to use dueling swords since it will probably catch a nerf soon and I am trying to learn the game still so I want something fun/skill developing instead of just plain effective
I go between powersword and the OG chainaxe myself
@faint beacon I fucking hate you
both are awkward and immobile in their own unique ways
Power sword tho now that is something I want : )
but both have insane kill power when it counts
I’d def go with power sword then bc you’ll have to learn how to manage your dodges and learn when to use pushes
Bro is losing his mind.
Duelling sword will not help you learn the game as much
@grand perch they’re talking about reliable melees on veteran
Taxe
did you know taxe has awesome stagger PLUS mobility and also makes your assorted appendages shrink or grow in size by your preferred amount???
Anyone have any advice, i feel like ive never gotten surrounded this bad before and when i push and melee i just cant get out of the crowd
whats ur melee?
try use ur dodges more efficient and take out the elites first if u can
You can also stagger mutants mid charge
Invest into Taxe stocks

Closed the game but bolter vet with rashad (or ps) exec stance (want to learn to play without relying voc) no keystones
Like very few seconds the melee sound is playing i run out of dodges quick
don't rely solely on dodges
trying to get used to IV helbore
The Lucius Mk V is the best in my experience
keep ur stamina and dodges and just be more efficitne
missed shots don't punish at much and with the right perks it's as good as the IV, if not better
MkIV is the best mark, MkIII is close second
@faint beaconwhats ur strats
i just like the MKV, it hasn't done me wrong
With MkIV?
i'll give the 4 a try
ye
mk V doesnt have the convenient breakpoints mk IV has
Unyi/Cara
WOF + Surgical
or mk 3 for that matter
Anything remotely at ranged will get beamed
Anything that gets close gets hit by a Tac Axe
Yea i mean i try and push and hit as well . I was up to 7 no death runs, then suddenly just doing terribly
Maybe tired
Shhh
Don’t let them know
dont worry i blocked them
Mk4 being the hardest hitting ranged weapon in the game so far
Casual Helbore W
As always
More MkIV propaganda
I'll try and upload something at some point
You pick the IV because it hits like a truck.
I pick the IV because it hits like a truck and has the best sights.
We are not the same
Watch Flight by Galeophobia and millions of other Warhammer 40,000: Darktide videos on Medal. Tags: Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Warhammer, 40,000:
I turned mine into a rail gun
We are not the same
i honestly like the V because it's a bit more forgiving for minor mistakes
and also more ammo efficient
(and also faster firerate)
Check that clip
shark FoV
Running surgical and shock trooper you barely lose ammo
eyes a meter apart
Ext Weapon Customization though it’s notorious for crashing after a bit
That being like 3-5 hours
Literally just remind yourself to restart your game lmao
ammo efficacy
I can only assume we don't get sights because it's not grimdark enough.
The only logical explanation
and damage i believe
^
well that and it's WW1maxxing
Mutant at the end for some fucking reason it didn’t crop it
The sight, on the helbore
It’s cropped on my end by loads the full vid instead
i run a crosshair mod
bandaid fix for that btw
adds a customizable crosshair to your standard iron sights
I suppose sights would help a fairly massive amount
Keep forgetting too tbh
Sights make the gun not feel like dogshit
I slap on sights on all the guns, especially autoguns
I would very much also just like the game to stop freaking out
what is your secondary? taxe?
I love disconnects I love disconnects I love
i've barely used them at all, i might look into that
They're fine
I like using the chaxe
Shockingly on that build when playing with Ainz was consistently not taking a lot of damage
Though Tbf I was playing more passive and was just ensuring ranged units would get shut down immediately
i'm assuming that the dumpstat is mobility?
correct play for helbore gaming
be passive because you are fully capable of killing every elite/specialist in the game by yourself
ye
literally every character
as long as you don't keep getting harassed by poxy boys
veteran is especially good at it
they are the best elite/specialist killer by like a lot
not really
Veteran, if left unchecked, is great at elite sniping
and they get some of the best boss damage too
fuck you arbitrators
veteran is the best at it because they can snipe crushers/maulers too
and also have infinite ammo
yeah
electostaff m1s:
they're like the only class that has the capability to reup on ammo
Zealots with a revolver:
Notice the blitz LMAO
Bistol Boys:
solely run that in Purple + Red
guys lets admint it vet fell off
I struggle to go back to exe stance bolter after castigator stance bolter. Just so easy lol
Arbitrators with wallhacks on every elite and specialist that spawns ingame:
My hatred for healing carapace is justified enough to have that be there
Purple + Red btw
yeah same thing for Executioner Stance lol
i love when the simple discussion of how veteran is just the best range class comes up
Limited duration, on cooldown
some thin lipped nerd is like "ermmmmm akshually"
and spouting off on specific builds
whereas veteran excels at range in just about any build
specific builds
even the regular veteran build is very good
exec stance
since vet is 3 for 3 for having the best guns in the game
yep
Helbore, Bolter, and Plasma
FINALLY GOT IT
And they have by far the best perks for bolter builds
weapon swap speed and reload speed
Veteran isn't the best for every situation
He can be
but fuck me sideways if it isn't the best for ranged engagements in 90% of cases
no
you got a sniper? lemme just pop their head.
veteran will never be the best for any situation that is not shooting something
vet is very strong and can be on par with any class (except ogryn)
just run a shout vet with a plasma gun
you can hate them, spit on their name, curse their famlies
but that doesn't change that plasmagun is still the most versatile gun in the vet arsenal
the humble Helbore lasgun:
high carapace damage, swap speed, insane cleave
you can shoot what, 6, maybe 7? shots with the plasma before you have to reload or you explode?
helbore lasgun can goon on 'em for days
don't explode with helbore
can get ammo back with crits
has a special ability
8 shots to reach 100% then you just press lmb and it auto vents a bit
and best of all, it isn't meta
and you keep tshooting
combined with shout vet, the damage you take to toughness doesn't matter
let me guess you run the DS 4 too
you sure do love relying on insults to try to win arguments
oh no i'm just saying you're a meta clinging nerd
I'm just here pointing out plasmagun is still the best gun
play the game that's fun, not what's optimized
man lets be honest hellbore while beeing cool is kinda dodo
wrong
it's no longer doodoo
i'd prefer a helbore over a plasma gun
You're not being honest
Smh
the swap speed buff was very nice
Helbore fucks
it's one of those guns that people will call S-tier no matter what state it's in
people called it S-tier before the buffs, people call it S-tier after
and it's usually always at least pretty fun and pretty strong
but man does it kinda suck to use if you don't have the right teammates
It's great if you have the support to blast away in the back
If you're getting harassed all the time or have to clutch its pain
if you have teammates that love to rush forward, not fully clear rooms or knock everything around then not clean up the mobs
You wouldn’t understand
then you can get games where you just constantly get harassed by a few pox walkers endlessly
a plasma gun has a lower skill floor and a lower skill ceiling which is why a lot of players flock to it
a helbore has a higher skill floor and a higher skill ceiling which is why people don't like it
if you consistently hit heads with the helbore
it will fuck
by definition yes
At that point let them be behind you and listen to the backstab queues
do not the helbore
Cause I’ll straight up do that and dodge accordingly whilst sniping
💔
helbore requires more skill to use but that does't make it better
ogryn out here proving that in spades
Helbore kinda became better Vigil I hate to admit it but like
more skill required does not mean better
Yeah…
but it has a higher chance of being the best for a situation
not the uncontested best
but i'd much rather have a helbore lasgun player who knows what they're doing
as opposed to a dime-a-dozen plasma gun user
ight i was wrong then haven't used the gun for a while. Gonna test it rn
I don't actually see many plasmagunners anymore
thank god
Most people who use it are usually playing high havoc
night and day with the draw speed buffs tbh
because the game is easy enough that at auric and auric maelstron
you can just run whatever
I've just been running chain axe and las pistol
@spark canopy may i lend a build? gonna go try it on some havocs
Shout vet but you dip into the left keystone instead of the right one
Or not at all
Vets keystones are kinda whatever
makes sense
i just focus on elite and specialist munching
a tauntgryn or book zealot is generally best because they keep the chaff off you
its still surgical and weight of fire?
i have surgical and armorbane for mine
you'd think but book zealots also tend to forget they can actuall kill things
so when chorus runs out you just get mobbed because they don't kill anything
might try WoF though
maybe a stupid question but sometimes firing plasma at high heat vents and one time i exploded whats the rule
Just only use uncharged shots on plasma gun
And always aim for the head
You cannot explode except on a charged shot at critical jeat
Surgical WOF is disgustingly good on IV
kk ty
IIIa also wants the same
machinegun helbore does not exist. machinegun helbore can't hurt you.
machinegun helbore
Hey
No full auto in the building
Yeah something I always forget when using the helboer is that uncharged shots kill normal shooters in 1
-salty germans in stalingrad, 1942
people will see this damage output and watch me evaporate a plague ogryn before it even reaches the team in havoc matches
and then still blame me when we wipe to ragers xd
is it mk IV?
sounds like V
This for helbore?
U don’t need rending for it unless u specifically rely on it to kill crushers
even without it's kinda not awful (IIIa)
Does the rending help with any breakpoints?
No
I used to take it just for my melee weapon but realise it wasn't changing much
Helbore’s ADMs are pretty high
Like
One tap scab rager in base game
And only needing maniac perk to 1 tap flamer
It also auto generates crits with surgical which hit incredibly hard on weakspot
It’s one of the few guns where crit weakspot hits actually push the breakpoints straight into havoc’s health pool
honestly not even just havoc
shit can keep breakpoints in havoc through pus hardened skin
just by doing so much damage
Well, no, unless u damage juice it
I am a damage juicer
some things are just too satisfying to let down y'know?
also does +maniacs matter for helbore now that the maniac ADM is better?
I kinda like running cara+unyielding
adm?
armor damage modifier
how much enemy health types reduce (or boost) the weapons damage when you shoot them
this
Adm is complicated on the surface
But really just know if you want your weapons to be better and killing ogryns, ragers or monsters
Or just follow the pinned guide
what are the battle forged weapons
That's what I've been running it with
yeah it works
aight bet
I need something a little more immediate into chaff than powersword
and what a coincidence the helbore dumpsters them both
Yes
i just used the plasma gun
it took exactly 2 auric tests to go "oh okay I like this"
dude this thing is so broken lmao
if I wanted to use that I would be asking about that
everyone here knows about that
Not yet
sad
damn
like i don't mean to be rude but ion care abt plasma I already got one
ideally it stays strong but it's charge mechanics matter
is plasma best roll still 69 thermal resist 71 charge?
idk give me aoe explosion upon hitting a solid object if I fully charge it
@tired egret
yup
lmao
when I care the least about it
this mf
I hope whatever change happens in the future just introduces a better dump stat
wise mystical damage dump sstat plasma when
finally caved and grabbed weapon customimzation
nah a katy that big will eat the fucking spider
do not put that thing near one if you value it's existence
nice
Do not the Katydid
Fun fact I used to care for a few of them
Really cool bugs
not a bug fan
one day we'll get a helbore with sights that make this mod not feel literally necessary for them 😩
Any advice for getting more diamanatine for a rookie? I cant really do higher difficulty yet
literally just spam quickplay at the highest difficulty you can reliably win
and explore more
that's basically it
Damn thats going to be somewhat tough but thanks
Lucky for me I have a decent enough boltgun : )
anyone got an Autogun build?
Vigilant because its the worse weapon in the game

nothing has made me hate dog as much as intentionally grinding penances
man they aren't even fixing bugs at the moment
despite having the fixes ready
because they went on holiday
here is the list of mods that i use. Any more recommendations?
I just want some smoke nade and ammo, and this is what I have to route through
https://www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/239 https://www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/10
thanks, custom hud still works withotu bugs? last update is 2 years ago
yeah
spam damnation quick play and loot
also play havoc every week
Crosshair remap
Crosshair color
Outline
Danger Zone
Spidey Sense
No Wobble
Full auto
Custom Hud
no creature spawner?
Maybe the smoke grenade could be more competetive if it was an impact smoke grenade and also maybe extinguished enemy flames 🤔
does anyone have any tips/build/weapons for getting the killshot ready penance?
Smokes are extremely viable already
In havoc they completely shut off shooters and gunners, they also stop Karnak bosses
The problem with smokes is that it's very hard to grab them and survivalist for Havoc
But if you play any other game mode, they can be cracked in gunner heavy malestroms
needs to do more than that
Sword twin too?
No but it does make melee units more disoriented
Like they react slower
I don't remember exactly what they do
What's "no wobble"
Motion Mod that removes the wobbling of the screen
This implies they list the effects in any real capacity
Basically what Nuncio “Fear” Debuff does
nah
more than that
Makes their attack combos slower
What if smoke grenades got the enemies lit
Highlighted?
Amd if they inhaled it it cleaned their lungs and they died becauae-
Oh nvm
Highlighted
I am sad people remove all the effects from the game that make it look cool
id think it would slap with those 3 improvements
Maybe some attack speed slow of enemies inside the cloud too but thats just overdoing it i feel like
it can be much more than just that
What more do u want lol, would be op if u went much further
nah
first off it should just block LoS for bombers
so they can't bomb u in the first place
instead of this "putting out fire/gas" thing
You cant expect the grenade to impact the bombers iq
He knows some dudes are in the smoke so he just lobs it into there anyways
make his accuracy throwing into smoke worse at the very least
Just the impact nade change would be big
what’s the dump of the chainaxe and shovel?
should be globally applied to tox bombers
they should be shit throws
since they're untrained cultists
not having 20 extra meters of range over regular scab bombers, and being able to bounce shit off walls
For chain axe its defence
Does one of the helbore models stand out as best?
both the mk iii and mk iv are good
it's pretty much down to preference and setup between the two
Thanks!
Defences
thanks
Mk3 is a good all arounder
Mk4 is the hardest hitting ranged weapon in the game so far but has worse bayonet/slower charge
It's like how using a smokescreen in World of Warships encourages everyone to fire torpedoes into it.
I like the pokey pokey one most
Which one?
Hard to get used to Weapon Specialist... I constantly switch weapons so I lose the buffs xd
I'm a Mk4 enjoyer
lol it's good to pick a ranged weapon that has low ammo or slow reloads
What MK is that?
I am running lasgun
Should be the heavy one.
Ah ok
yeah it's the heavy one
honestly all of them are great lol
I use the pokey one because bayonet go stabbymacstabberson
i think i've been running the lowest secondary damage one
The slasher one. Slowest charge up but hardest hitting
MKIV?
Yup
Ah ok
I love me MK IV
i like the MKIV, definitely the closest we have to a marksman rifle
MKV is a lot more forgiving and faster firerate
also the pokey special action is nice
I can't use the Helbore. Too many loose poxwalkers. And ping.
bayo can deal with loose poxwalkers
i use the helbore as my precision weapon
mkiv currently
and the swap speed buff makes killing hordes much less painful
taxe 7 or power sword for hordes
are you asking about talents or perks/blessings?
I played Mk4 exclusively for a while and it's the main reason I can now just defauly aim for head
Do you ADS or not most of the time?
I love that one
ADS a lot
it helps with actually hitting where you're aiming
(less bloom)
like 90% of the time when i shoot i'm ADSing
only time that's not the case is when a scab bruiser (the ones with the mace looking weapons, not the elites/specialists though) is right in my face
I feel like every time I ADS a random poxwalker takes all my health.
listen for the audio cue that you're about to get hit
or just toss a shredder down at your feet
you'll still get hit occasionally but you can dodge whilst ADSing
i think the helbore has 3 or 4 effective dodges
Ah ok.
I know in Meat Grinder set to Auric, if I pop exec and Focus Target the crusher, I can one shot it in the head with my Mk IV Helbore
yep
it's fucking insane
it's why i prefer it over the plasma gun
though plasma is pretty good in it's own right
all, general setup for hellbore
so is recon
well, a pretty good set is:
flak/unyielding + carapace (for crusher, mauler, bulwark, and reaper hunting) for perks
weight of fire + surgical
for the MKV Helbore i flex between WoF and Armorbane
i haven't used the MK III enough to know what's it great at
this, weight of fire and surgical go well together
Helbore in Darktide is interesting. On the TT it's just another lasgun. But here it's closer to a hotshot lasgun.
i can show you my setup if you want a reference point https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9f3c6424-3c04-4446-9875-2fcdecb5b950/flexible-helbore-grenadier-havoc
Remember guys; Field Improv is bad & niche pick
https://streamable.com/yxl85x
if you also wanna meme a bit, grab some lvl 410 +3 stamina Curios and go Deadshot. You drain Stamina but higher crit
Who says Field Improv is bad?
hey now i used to run deadshot before helbore buffs. Ran it for infantry las and it got me through havoc
Is the rending strikes talent no good?
many ppl consider it... not that good
Yet the situations where it shines keep popping up; i dunno man
why? Takes my corruption away, heals me faster, and gives me nades on ammo restock?
There was a build with recon and Deadshot and the guy was like "I could fire for a minute"
for a helbore build, not really
I guess the base armor pen is good enough?
for what?
yeah
I was asking why rending strikes isn't worth it for helbore build. Is it because the Helbore already does well against armor?
oh yeah pretty much. Just use the perks
i have tested the hallborn on havoc 40 u were right it kicks ass
yep yep
if you hit heads
it fucks
it fucks hard
it asks for consent first but nonethless
helbore is my go-to for havoc
unfortunately the infantry lasgun is just
sad
it's such a shame because it was one of my favorite guns when i first started playing
Even on launch it was annoying with the need to spam the fire button constantly.
okay so i am devising a perk tree for a helbore focused build
i avoided any skills that focus on rending, because the helbore renders that obsolete
i'm thinking field improv
that or determined, the suppression immunity skill
Yeah Infantry one just feels so bland. The recoil and lack of damage fucks my aim a
maybe deadshot? i do run triple stamina regen for my curios
i'll probably do field improv then
and you dump stability on it
get all the ogryns to love me
I'd say extra grenade, gives you more opportunitity for breathing room
oh i had a half n' half stat between charge and stability
this is my helbore
I'd replace The Bigger they Are... with Counter-Fire
Less or minimal recoil would help a lot.
eh I wwent low stab since I fire slow enough even with WoF that I can just re-acquire heads
which tree is that? 😅
How do I use the power sword? The power mode keeps turning off after a second or two of beng charged
turn on power
swing three/four times
turn power on again
The node that branches from Exec Stance
dodge and block + push as needed
Ok ignore what I just said.
i'm assuming this is for horde clear
Achlys Mk VI is better for horde clear, make sure to bring Power Cycler Blessing
whoops I replied to you by mistake lol. My bad. Did I ignore you or did I answer?
Oh that must be what I am missing. Mine keeps losing charge after a sigle strike
I meant that I was wrong about Counter Fire. I thought it was the increased suppression one.
Power Cycler 4 gives you 2 additional chain charged hits
so you turn on power, swing three/four times, turn on power again
preciate it, i'll give it a looksee
i guess it's hard to miss the ogryn sized enemies lol
oh I don't think I saw that
i do have a question though, does them not being outlined exclude them from receiving the extra critical damage bonus? or are they just no longer outlined?
Well that and a lot of times the shooters are a pain cause volume of fire so you can quickly start picking them off in Exec Stance, plus it can extend your time in Stance
Does melee attack speed affect charged attacks too?
oh? so killing ranged minor enemies that are outlined, not just elites/specialists also extends your time?
damn.
Thanks thats a huge help man : )
I don't think so but having them outlined means your time is reset when you kill them
of course!
Go to Meat Grinder and see for yourself 🙂
There's even a penance for extending the stance time to 20 seconds.
5 times!
killing anything that's outlined
I will say nothing makes me feel more like a badass than being in Exec Stance just one shotting everything with a Helbore
no
charged attacks are kinda weird
oh that is so fucking lethal.
so with weapon specialist I should just spam lights?
attack speed in this game affects the interval between attack actions can be performed
the charging period for charged attacks (ex: helbore's charged shots) are not part of this interval
so what u'll see being kinda weird is that
WoF for helbore IV, doesn't actually make the interval between inputs faster
but it will make charging noticeably faster
for what
I meant, which weapon are u talking abt
knife
Does melee attack speed affect ranged weapons? Or is charged attack supposed to be heavy melee?
knife doesn't have charge attacks?
I meant heavies
heavy attack is not the same thing as charged attack
melee attack speed does not
ty
I think arbites is the only class currently that has just regular old attack speed that improves both ranged weapons and melee weapons
no
zealot
why those two?
That's what matters
both matter
true but faster charging makes time between shots faster
is there any use for marksman's focus?
noted
I mean, niche cases but you really don't wanna be sitting around anymore
damage
vigilant auto guns
damn I thought full tank was the way to go
and helbore likes it
standing still though
unless you're getting headshots every 6 seconds
there's a blessing that lets you have more swings with it before it turns off
but accept that you'll spend most of the match locked onto its power up animation.
fucking hate it
the weapon is so good that it has a tax blessing
genius FS as usual
which heavy sword for horde clear / what combo
doesn't blocking reset that animation?
yup
yeah, mk vi power sword has block cancel for the power up animation
not to mention that the power sword has terrible mobility, even at max
@spark canopy I just remembered something! If you hold to ADS with the Mk IV Helbore as you swap from melee it'll ready to fire faster than if you switched and let it complete the animation
only the 6?
Idk if Im doing it right but I feel like I just wave my sword around like an idiot lol
charge and block immediately
you'll get into the flow of things
or charge and push
that works too
highest damage boost of any vet keystone
very easy to stack to maximum damage off common enemies
I feel it's to easy to lose those stacks
yes
but it's equally easy to get max stacks so
only time it isn't easy is during bosses when the game doesn't spawn enemies
if it's horde+boss just shoot at vaguely head level into the poxboys
Mk9
Heavy 2 heavy 3 loop
this can be mitigated with weapon specialist
Is Close Quarters Killzone better than Duck and Dive for Recon Lasgun shout build?
Generally yeah
Just asking
Whats the current best setup for helbore lasgun?
as in? Stats? Blessings?
lotta helbore talk tonight. I like it
I think it can at times outperform the Plasma after the buffs
+5 crit +Unyielding. Armour bane/Infernus/Weight of fire + Surgical are popular.
Depending on mark
at Mk IV I think Surgical + Weight of Fire is the optimal setup
Each of the 3 goes with one different trait. Surgical is generally the only constant.
on Mk III I can see Armour Bane being ok but even then I prefer infernus, for noob reasons. If I miss a headshot but get a crit body shot, I sometimes can kill an enemy with the burn
I knew it
The slash bayonet has better cleave
Also I would never get rid of stability
6.5 cleave
Less 1st target damage than the others
Higher 2nd target Dmg than the others
I used carapace and I can't remember the other
I think I'm currently using Carapace + Maniac on mine
You don't really need it on the Mk IV
this is my helbore 4
Or just shoot a second time.
Armour bane mostly good if you hit repeatedly.
yeah but I don't really know if the math works for the Mk III and there is no reason to use it on the MkIV unless you really want to do damage to bosses
No, it is not worth it on mk4.
Yeah 4 hits like a brick to the teeth
I changed mine to Mk III today, I'm going to run a few games with it tomorrow and test some shit to see if I like it
but generally I just prefer Mk IV
I'm mk5 enjoyer.
I used that once and my conclusion was that it was just a bad version of III and IV but that was just my first impression
idk if it is actually good for something
it is way faster than either of them so if you REALLY hate gunners
and want a gun that does damage unlike the infantry lasgun
I always felt that was Mk III, it's good to use when you want to play the Infantry Lasgun but then you remember the Infantry Lasgun is not good. So you play Helbore Mk III and you have that fantasy of having a functional laser rifle.
after 3hrs of looking at code I've decided to scrap stagger detail values for chain weapons' saw-rip attacks because the code there is too complex for the avg player to ever consider needing to calculate
they're just as fked as charged attacks' and pellet-based attacks' stagger scaling

and even besides that don't they mostly always stagger in practice?
The saw-rip attacks do meet some stagger breakpoints
But their stagger values are pretty complex
By complex I mean they’re listed as like 4 different values
There’s the attack itself
The sticky damage of the attack
The special activated version of the attack
And the sticky damage of the special activated version of the attack
And since the attack itself might not do saw-rip
I don’t get what the normal sticky damage is for
And I also don’t know what the special activated version’s difference with the sticky damage of the special activated version
There’s also last-tick damage for special activated attacks which is its own damage template
Don't chain weapons have that mini-activation thing with heavy attacks?
Not all of them
Only 3 of them do
I was wondering if it did anything or just cosmetic.
it is actually a seperate hit
It’s not cosmetic at the very least
I was using the chainsword on Arbites and it felt so much better than on Veteran for some reason.
because arbi's broken good lol
Why do people say the infantry lasgun does no damage
Very bad ADM
It can 1-2 shot just about every important enemy that isn't in carapace
Less damage at close range
It's actually easier for mine to one shot a scab gunner than a dreg gunner
Also it can clear out all the baby shooters
The vigilant auto is just a better infantry las
Real? Real? Real?
helbore is a better ilas
proceeds to 2 shot body mauler with Vigi 7
For other class, maybe. For vet with shock troop, I disagree.
Survivalist
Unless you’re doing a specific build you typically path to get CaB
it's like this for most dreg enemies
because they all have more health
stupid scab gunners
wearing all this armor
when you just be taking axes and las shots to the head
how long did it take for scab ragers to not be directly inferior to dreg ones
because most weapons have nearly 1.00 ADM into it
while 1.00+ is very common into maniacs/flak to make up for those enemies (usually) higher health
no fuckin' idea I don't think about unarmored damage
what’s the magnacore plas dump stat
@tired egret
it does?
mhm
damn
Yeah the whole weapon is charge based
Primary just charges it to around 52% before shooting
oh
It's why blessings with "charge" on it works with primary
damn i found a 60 charge one
slow fire rate
