Bolter is one of the strongest, if not the strongest primary in the game rn

I'd say try out different things, there's a lot fun stuff you might miss out on otherwise. Try to get into the habit of preserving your primary for elites/specials/bosses cause the higher you go in terms of difficulty the more you will need it for those and you will regret eviscerating that horde with your ammo when you could have mulched it with your melee instead.
A lot of people recommend executioner's stance with the bolter for easy elite/special sniping but you can never go wrong with golden toughness shout.

Honestly though, due to the gunner buff, some vet build is more viable than before.
