you do need the gun out iirc
if the gun is out you have the lethal proximity buff on your bar
if it isn't out, you don't have the buff and your nades are 25% smaller
Lookit this hatless nerd
the buff goes away even if you have the gun out
but it still effects your grenades as far as I know
All my boys love hats
i'd rather not risk it cause there is no clear visual indicator between +25% from talent vs +50% from talent and lethal proximity
Think it doesn't matter, I had my sword out hitting the Bulwark with the Shredder and the Mauler got hit either way, nothing extra got hit with the gun out
I just tested it and it doesn't matter
threw a grenade with lethal proximity boltpistol
hit a scab from far away
threw a grenade at the same spot with my melee out
hit the same scab
switched the boltpistol out
threw a grenade at the same spot
did not hit the scab
so you still get the effect no matter what
also, take One Motion in your grenadier builds
it affects how fast you pull out and unpin the grenades
Frens, which is the best Catachan sword?
IV is the most popular one by a pretty big margin
What.
just proving that lethal proximity works even if you have your melee out first
Or during the explosion, either way
Lethal prox but fire nades
Lethal prox but Ogryn-sized nade (he's wearing the pistol as a pendant on a necklace)
Gotcha, which Blessings should I go for?
rampage + shred or savage sweep

Just discovered how fuckoff amazing the tactical axe is now that you can get brutal momentum on it. Is Mark II the best for getting head hits?
I think my first one was Mark V and that left something to be desired.
Forgot to specify getting head hits by spamming light attacks
Which is kind of always what you want to do when you have brutal momentum anyway
Bada bing bada boom
noice! you definitely are going to want maniac instead of carapace though
the death claws main niche is parrying ragers to death
and they always SUCK against carapace sadly
Dang, hoped I can get some crazy Crusher parries
honestly same dude! I tried to build around it last week but it just don't work
praying it does one day cause that would be sick
you can kill a crusher in like... 5 parries
just not worth it over throwing a sticky or popping them with a revolver
and everything else will be clapping your cheeks while you're parrying
Gotcha, so I still have to be careful when parrying
yeah it's more of a tool than a playstyle you can focus around
great for ragers and decent for maulers though
and if you're a god you can clown on bosses
I just want to say to all my teams that I am going to test this smoke grenadier build with that I am so sorry
The later the parry the less stam it uses I believe. Last second parry uses very little stamina
the Emperor made me do it
Need help, what stats should I prioritized and which blessings is best?
the plasma gun has VERY specific perfect stats
I wouldn't sweat it unless you really want to min-max
@full nacelle thank you
anytime
Where did you get that from Iv not seen weapons laid out like that
first link up in the pins! very helpful resource
Thanks man I’ll need to check that out
I wouldn't take everything as gospel but its extremely well researched and tested
sure thing!
Yeah it’s guidance rather than set in stone
Yeah there are just too many little nuances to even fit into a 100pg veteran guide
but they did an amazing job with it
@tall torrent as much as i you're fucking logic annoying you are correct about the VIc and sorry about earlier
It'll take some getting used to but I can just play the sword like it's For Honor
Can I move and dodge while parrying or do I need to stay standing still?
Fended off a Rager pack with the parry and they took some chunks out of me
it's fine, no big deal
Yeah honestly I'd much rather just play the duelling sword
the parry is cool but that's about it
I can't use the dueling sword anymore, it's just so strong it's stupid
yeah but it actually takes some semblence of skill to use unlike some other overpowered weapons
I just think it's a lot of fun
I don't really think that it does, it's easy to use while being a safe weapon
isnt it just grabbing the mk4 and left clicking things to death
unless its elites, then you hold left click them to death
I should try the DS on my Knife Vet...
nah that duelling swords horde clear is meh
A lot of the braindead comes from uncanny
you pretty much just run around like a freak poking things in the head
DS is the knife except you don't need to invest skill points for it and the alt-fire staggers crushers
Hey, how's it going? (I am the freak in question)
Pretty good man. You? (same man, I love it)

I run duelling sword with smoke grenades and DB shotgun to nerf it
Me sprinting towards the group of crushers because my funny sword pierces their helmets
I've been running the shock maul to return to earth after my DS adventures
I could never get into the shock maul
I wanted to
but I hate doing combos that aren't left clicking a whole bunch
Electric mace good
It's versatile
Actually need to try the horde clear mace when I stop using DS and (I guess) go for an actual ranged build
I wish the veteran had an equivalent to the billhook from vermintide
that thing was so fun
No polearms for now
I just lived its silly push attack combo
it felt so good once you got into the rhythm
the only weapon combo I ever bothered to learn
Push attacks being like the only good attack on multiple weapons in Verm 2
I really do miss Vermintide sometimes
but I'm spoiled by Darktide's ranged combat and build crafting
The number of good builds is about on par tbh
just saying i hate admitting that i'm wrong or saying sorry so if i do either of these things ya can damn well bet i mean it
I miss the flail
It has nice animations
oh man the fire flail was my jam on Sienna
I liked the fire dagger aswell
Flail and shield on wsrrior priest saltz
saltz my beloved... bardin my beloved... kruger my beloved...

and elf was there too

I must admit that no firearm in darktide matches the coolness of brace of pistols
remember when you'd play Bounter Hunter and two tap the boss in the face with your ult?
that was fun
Does 40k have any lever-action rifles?
Vt2 players when elf:
Several I think
On necromunda for certain
But if the question is “does 40k have x historical weapon”the answer is just yes
splendid
Some underhiver or primitive worlder probably has one
revolver style nade launcher when
all the current combat shotguns already play like lever action rifles
imagine using primary fire on a shotgun
nice joke
I use it all the time
you're an absolute madman
Its for horde clear
its so ammo inefficient though
plus I use the zarona where my special ammo is my horde clear
it's the only one that actually feels like a shotgun
Manstopper
And accatran
Shotgun
Because zarona is weak ass. Agrip being accurate has a place
You mean boykisser tanner
even accatran can't kill poxwalkers from any range with primary fire... Zarona with special shot clears it much faster
Tanner the femboy Darktide tuber
I plaay 100% crits
With shotguns
so do I and the Zarona special shot is 100% the best for a crit-based horde clear weapon because of its special ammo
its actually nutty
Fair. But when i used it it felt weak compared to accatran
I have my game up with brown shotty and i dont intend to change it
but if you stack crit and Marksman's Focus it becomes the ultimate horde clearing machine
pops massive waves of heads like crazy
Yes
Nah thats db in my book
the uptime on DB is too low unfortunately unless you're just both barrels mag dumping
you never have to reload on Zarona
a bot and a textureless head zealot in the pregame screen
well yes but then you're constantly going in and out of melee range and spending less time blowing off 30 heads at a time with the Zarona every .5 seconds
surely this is a completely normal game
you don't have to spend time in melee to reload your gun with the Zarona
you just shoot
that's what makes it good
Im 90% melee on my build
yep! that's what the DB shotgun is for
but the Zarona is better for horde clear in that regard
DB is more of a really nice compliment for melee builds
Zarona is a more specialized crowd clearer that can also special snipe when needed
it's not meant for a melee build because you need distance to pop as many heads as possible with its huge spread
not trying to be a nerd, just trying to say that the Zarona has a niche no other shotgun fulfills and thats blasting the heads off 50 poxwalkers at a time every half a second
Kickback
autoshotty?
Its called a ripper
ohhhh truuueeeee
ripper do be being fun
but yeah if you ever get the urge to try a funny Zarona build let me know
you know that little voiceline that plays whenever you kill a bunch of stuff back to back?
you get spammed with those voicelines with this build cause you just constantly clear entire mosh pits of enemies with it
Yes. When i one shot a bunch of rsgers
ok but now lets get into what really matters
the Zarona has the best sound design of the combat shotguns
and if you disagree you're wrong and I'll kill you

no one disagrees with you cuz nobody knows which one is the zarona
so true
The flame shot one?
Lawbringer was a much better name
Old lawbringer
Agri is the single slug I think
I like the single shot and flame shot, never understood the wide shot one
Flame shot kinda does the same it goes into a horde and clears it up
Oh man guys... Field improv or focus fire?
Field inprov
Well
There's gotta be things you can take besides either of those two
i hope they add one day shangeable sights
i would like to put the las pistol sight onto the revolver
The best thing about the infantry las gun is prob the sight
or the infantry las sight on vigilant autoguns and helbore las rifles
I ran the weapon customisation mod for a few days but it kept breaking my weapons giving their special action torches
It gave my assault shotty a torch so I couldn’t use the special ammo
No need for a sight on the helbore the irons are perfect
i swapped sights in manny games if i had the posibility
i dislike using ironsights more often
what is a good talent build for the recon lasgun
Change the torch to default it should work
I’d like to apologize to anyone using the rashad i wasn’t familiar with your intelligence
i will never laugh at this axe again
No.
Nothing can penetrate plate.
It could penetrate anything worse than playte though. And most combatants never had access to plate.
Cannons
Harsh words
Good morning fellow guardsmen
How do I invite other guard enjoyers to this server?
?
Depends on how much you plan to spray and pray
I like running it with headtaker infernus onslaught and extra/free ammo
That is why I don’t run improv. If you want toughness bring a proper sergeant. If you want corruption cleansing bring an aura zealot. I want my health suitcase to replenish damn health
If you aren’t using infernus maybe marksman focus would work when I tried marksman focus with infernus I think the burn was sniping some of my headshot kills so I wasn’t building charges as fast
the health suitcase still heals health
Infernus isn’t very good on semi automatic lasguns. Works great on the automatic lasguns
Ye I thought we were talking recon las
I was assuming the 20shot brrrrrt mark
Mk7 maybe can’t remember
I don’t want a wasted talent point that results in the health suitcase expending its charge on recharging the blue bar when filling the blue bar is my job. It must focus on the white bar.
the suitcase does not heal blue bar it heals purple away from white bar if no full purple bars
That is why I always say “the damage per shot accatran” or “the rate of fire accatran”. I don’t care for the habit of changing the mark names ingame every week.
Field improv gains value the worse your situation is. If your team is cruising they don’t really care if everyone is on their final wound gasping during an event clearing that corruption is what moves the needle to winnable
And feeding your ogryn a ogrynheimer is always nice
It does heal blue bar, and that is my job. It also heals purple bar, and that is zealot’s job. When it fucks with the blue and purple bars, it is wasting charge that could be used on the white bar. And that is why I don’t waste a talent point on it.
Field improv is nice but situations where it actually makes a diffrence are incredibly rare
Yeah it’s not nice enough for me to spend a point except on request
Like I’ll do it if we’re rolling into something intense and the team would want it
That tier of the talent tree is getting the bare minimum of points, which is 1, and that one point is going into Demolition Stockpile
Red ability unlocked, further expenditure not required
i want to shoot people who shoot at me
is headhunter plus infernus good
The extra grenade supply makes field improvision worth the talent point by itself.
Like u know, auric maelstorm with enhanced blitz
ogryn can toss 12 more nukes with an ammo suitcase
At this point I have accepted that the middle path is too cracked to ignore it, since depriving a team of krak grenades, damage aura, toughness shout, and Saltzpyre tag makes me feel bad, so I would run it like this despite the fiery protests of other: https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9d543646-2c8d-46bc-a011-12d7a35e7bb1/bring-a-backpack-for-all-the-ammo-you-plan-to-steal
why are you taking duck and dive if i may ask
close quarter kill zone into onslaught would work alot better with the weapons you are using imo
also personally dont find fire team that good of an aura its alright if you dont have the points to get either of the other two
also grenade tinkering is factually useless on krak grenades outside of monstrosities
so i think covering firing would just be an alot better pick
the reason for me saying its factually useless is
they one hit everything you are using krak grenades on
outside of monstrosities
covering fire is also kind of not worth the point on it though, so I guess if your heart is set on fire team and kraks it probably is the better of the two
more likely used for frags
The -only- perk of taking kraks with twin grenades is that they don't have the same trajectory, so 20% of the time, you get slightly better coverage—in addition to the odd monstrosity double shot once every map or three.
I like it better with frags, and even more with the bolt pistol increased explosive range (unless they fixed it). But it's still a vanity pick, even then.
Nice! My twinned frag grenade build with the extra grenade gen is still valid!
shredder grenades cook regardless
It's just really fun throwing like 30+ grenades in a histg.
oi i've got 3 extra points to spend where should i throw them
Is the lethal proximity buff global even when it's not equipped? I was using it with the Crusher on zealot for fun, too.
What're your weapons?
its in the video
left side
30% weakspot + ammo maybe
Weakspot is a pretty strong buff, yeah.
with 4 points, you could even pick up the funny lasgun ammo buff.
if not ammo, then reciprosity if you fine with it
dont need it
Depends on how good your aim is and how much you like to hold down the funny disco button.
weakspot + rending depending on your weapons
aim pretty decent but i'm juggling melee and range
yes
or stamina if you need it
just having on your bolt pistol will mean its always active
did you watch the video?
makes crushers really fun i hear
I've very much run out of ammo (or needed to take an exorbitant amount of ammo) on lasgun without it. But if you're balancing melee and ranged better than I do with lasgun, then it's whatever. But the weakspot is still a great pickup.
oh i didn't keep watching I just looked at the talents
I don't play chainsword so idk how stamina hungry it is
The rending one isn't disgusting, but I do like it with lasgun since it also applies to burning and gives you more damage into stuff like monstrosities.
if your weapon has <=90% damage vs. armor then 10% rending is very good
if it has over then it's like 2.5% damage and it sucks
chainsword stamina hungry?
chainsword is left click sim
Honestly, if you're good about weapon swapping, going two more points into weapon specialist is also nice. Get the auto reload and the extra toughness on weapon swap.
Especially since you aren't running VoC for the mostly reliable toughness gen.
VOC is for people who suck no offence to anyone who uses VOC
it is good for reviving others cause the cc
infiltrate or the other one which i forget its name are excellent
I mean, running anything other than a grey combat knife and autopistol is for people who suck, no offense to anyone who uses anything else.
executioner stance
thank you
All the choices are good on vet. Though I personally prefer zealot stealth to vet stealth.
is there anything like an ogrynomicon for veterans? specifically looking for a breakdown on weapon marks / blessings / perks
i mean you could kinda just say this about every strong option in a video game if you wanted to
good point
a truly cracked player could run damnation maelstroms with grey weapons and 0 talents
First link on pins
yeah that doc goes hard
grrr rending or no rending?
uhh for carapace you're going from 61% to 71% which is 16.4% damage
pretty solid
flak armor on the sword is already really good
idk what the armor values are for the funny laser gun
hammer of the emperor guide says dump cleave not mobility on power sword, why is that?
Powered power sword has max cleave
makes sense ty
why do i force myself to drink this crap
Plus Bromentum you aren't stopping for antrhing
so 98 is your base damage, against flak and unyielding you do 73. 73/98 = 0.74. (0.1+0.74)/0.74 = 1.14x more damage multiplicative
ogryn levels of dumb please
Do more damages
this talent reads "+14% damage to maniacs, flak, and bosses for your lasgun" and then like "16% vs carapace" for your sword
tl;dr good
superiority complex is 15% additive and is really good
this is 15% multiplicative basically
Also, didn't realize it did 0 damage to carapace.
Like no damage, sure. But actually no damage?
"Can't hurt Ogryn"
ogryn's have boss type armor iirc
Crushers have carapace.
Other ogryns have unyielding, which is the same as the beast of nurgle, plague ogryn, chaos spawn and daemonhost
If ogryns are boss armoured, why do they call me boss
Good question
I have to take something to open up the path to brittleness-on-hit, and that seemed like the least shitty option to my sleep deprived husk of a brain at the time.
I am at work on my phone so I can’t check close quarters kill zone at the moment.
Fire Team benefits from adjacency to grenade tinkerer and demolition stockpile, so I will always take it. The 5% damage is also more useful to the melee oriented players than a sad amount of ammo.
You answered your own statement in the same sentence.
I pick both on my auric build, but this is clearly a build that has to make concessions to obtain brittleness on hit for the lasgun
Not only am I going to take grenade tinkerer, I am also going to inject the damage stim. Then I am going to saltzpyre tag the plague ogryn. Then I am gonna shove two kraks in it’s arse, and no amount of rational arguments from sane people will change that
Deleted ogryn
ah i thought there was something more behind it but that makes sense lol
I mean I’m not trying to change your mind I was just pointing out how limited it’s uses are
Covering fire straight up isn't even a talent
True but when weighing it against grenade tinkerer with kraks my original thought was they are both very limited in their use
I mean there's nothing stopping you from going Frag + fire team
iirc its 1 point tax and the 1 point is a +5% ranged damage node so its not even that bad
Hey guys so right
I’ve got like 530 hours on Darktide
And I’ve never leveled veteran to 30
so, genuinely, why should I give veteran a shot👍🏻
Like, vet as a class seems cool, but I genuinely don’t see a point in vet besides the shout and plasma
Like, it feels like that specific build outshines all others, going into auric maelstrom or damnation
its all about the shovel
Vet has good and fun hybrid melee and ranged set ups
Trying all the classes would generally be advised anyway
Shovel
Kinda feels like vets only purpose is to bring shout and plasma
Shovel makes a funny noise when you heavy attack enemies
you havent lived until you've bonked down an entire horde with shovel heavies
I LOVE the shovel. I’m mostly an ogryn main and a lot of my time was spend playing with the shovel
But veteran shovel puny compared to ogryn shovel 🤣 (jkjk)
veteran shovel is solid instead of folding
Plasma is strong but Vet has a lot of fun options
Grenade bolt pistol builds
Recon laser build
Double barrel weapon spec
Anything involving weapon spec actually
Ogryn’s mk 3 shovel is solid too, I mostly used that one and the mk5 sometimes
I mean I will eventually level vet once I max out zealot but like
It just feels like every other build vet has. Another class does better
Except plasma/shout
plasma isn't all that fun
Stealth zealot feels much more optimal than stealth veteran
vet is a good generalist
you can do everything
plus you poop out free grenades every minute
Because stealth vet is utility while stealth zealot is built more for crits
Psyker’s scrier’s gaze seems to bring more value than executioner stance (apart from the highlighting enemies part)
Plasma overrated tapping heads with an infantry lasgun and that 30% weakpoint node?
That’s real guardsmen gameplay
And yeah vet has power sword cleaves but ogryn just deletes hordes without really trying (and psyker has fire staffs)
And arguably power sword isnt the strongest melee available on vet rashad may be
But really talent wise vet is very strong well rounded imo
Ooooh how so? I feel like zealot stealth also can play more utility, it’s versatile enough for you to focus on taking out specials and gunners while still going for crits
Vet stealth suppresses enemies when exiting it
vet stealth can also dump aggro on the psyker
Plus threat reduction and a damage boost means for a solid 10 seconds you can do literallynwhatever the fuck you want
Hmmm true, I suppose vet’s strength is in its well-roundness
It just kinda feels like vet is a jack of all trades master of none when like
Zealot is jack of all trades master of…all trades
Psyker has its ridiculous damage ceiling
And ogryn is jack of all trades. Master of not dying
Yknow?
Psyker is made out of glass
ogryn isn't a jack of all trades, he gets bullied by ranged enemies
True 🤣 psykers defo a glass cannon
But again, isn’t vet’s survivability tied to his shout?
Ehhhhhh I mean that’s why you dodge slide
But ye if we just look at vet they can generate ammo, have nodes that give them 20% damage against ogryns and monstrosities, 2 grenades that fuck, 15% damage against elites, nodes that can add brittleness and render, 2 stamina nodes, very nice base toughness, the unique play style that comes with weapon specialist and a win button (voc)
Just to point out some of their talents
Oh and iron will
Love my iron will
No you got great toughness regen and iron will as mentioned
Oooooh
Yeah I defo know for a fact vet’s talents rock
Is there like, any other build besides weapon spec and shout that do well though?
no?
Marksmans focus isn't great.
A lot of vets survivability outside of shout is tied to killing things but you should be killing things tbh
Nice aight aight
the class is pretty good at it
Okok once I get tired of zealot. Maybe I’ll find the time to level vet🤣
you're fine without a keystone
shooting things that shoot your party is what the vet does best
and what vet players in pubs dont do
You should it's a good time
Zero bias.
"Run and Gun" Agripina Infantry Auto Gun
Hit heads with Marksman Focus
Move
Hit
Move
I just always felt like the best vets in auric with my 500+ hours always just took plasma+shout 😅
But I see there’s really a lot of variety
I've been experimenting with Agripinaa instead of Columnus lately
Maybe it’s a server thing 🤣 I’m on the Asia server
my current auric build is shout + double barrel shotty
I'm a 800 hour Vet with Bolter+Shout UwU
I do like the high skill ceiling of marksman focus xd
I'm clearly unique
Like it feels like the main reason a lot of ppl rely on plasma+shout is because they can’t headshot
but this build basically plays like a zealot which is my main
Ironic because plasma is one of the better headshot machines
So it feels like marksman focus gets neglected a little
its harder to use and if you have a team that doesnt protects you its a pain to use
Can veteran horde clear well? Or do most build rely mostly on teammates for that?
mk 1 shovel and rashad axe have amazing horde cleear
very good horde clear
but every class can horde clear
its not really a question if Vet can horde clear though
because if you can't, what the fuck are you doing
you have 3 shredder grenades, and you regenerate them every minute
you're fine against hordes
some lasguns can penetrate enemies at least
Helbore has better horde clear with bayonet than shooting lol
poor helbore
Helbore is high skill for low reward
Dodge button
the reward is proper Kriegsman cosplay
that doesnt make them go away
:(
it does if you shoot them
Or stab
if you run dry on a Helbore, that's pure skill issue
Kill! Kill! Kill!
I just blast them
Like you you can snipe with helbore or you can take revolver/boltgun/pistol and you'll hit the head every time because their projectiles are the size of a palm tree
bolter and bolt pistol have cleave now too lol
why
because trying to shoot a trapper and a poxwalker gets in the way is annoying
it's a bolter, it would be wrong if it didn't have cleave
tbh I'm sad the explosion doesn't do damage
at least its basically an auto-suppress
Pinning Fire :D
Bolt pistol releasing with 0.0001 cleave what were they cookin
yeah ikr
if they weren't going to cleave, then make the bolt explosion do damage
it doesn't...
so it was just bad lol
Do yall think we’ll ever get a “established guard regiment” skin line that isn’t over costed lmao
Well we got Vallhallan ice warriors for 2400
Depends if they can do a set out of it. Stuff like Tanith I think will be a 2900 set
that isn't over costed
nope
How about something super duper obscure like idk
Indigan prefects
Well I guess if harakoni warhawks can have a 2500(?) price tag then I don’t see how indigan prefects can be any cheaper 🤣
And also past tensed Beast of Nurgle and Chaos Spawn. Very important. For some reason it doesn’t work as well against Captains even though I stick the krak grenade on them when their shield is down.
people are more likely to buy it if it's some regiment they already know and like
so unless they run out of ideas, no obscure stuff
Are the warhawks considered obscure? I can’t recall the last novel they had or were mentioned in
Ok but indigan prefects got that drip tho
I mean they might do stuff like that for 2400 again it depends
Can they make one for each class
Yes? Probably 2900
No? Then a 2400 or 2100 skin
And the cold steel/purple colour scheme?🥰🥰🥰
It instantly refills the entire toughness bar of your teammates if you carve one plasma shot through the horde they are in melee with, effectively allowing me to heal people even when they are out of shout range.
Harakoni warhawks would 100% be a 2400 cosmetic I think
They'd only do it for vet
Both have their place. I run both on my auric only build.
I think they got a skin line right? Or was it another “jump pack” guard regiment that I’m thinking of
I'd say so
out of the flying guys, only the Elysians are mainstream
Elysian shock drop troops got one
Because having one of each character at 30 opens up more playstyles?
And even then they aren't that mainstream the most impact they've ever had is probably because of Darktide lmfaooo
And they haven't got anything for ages
vet is so much fun from a zealot main
Are those not enough reasons by themselves?
When was the last time they got a book🤣🤣🤣
They can be fucking deadly in ranged and melee too, but the middle path is extremely strong yes
No again they're not unique enough
It’s kinda annoying sometimes ngl
Vet exclusive 2400
what we need are weapon cosmetics in the commisar that don't look like shit
I mean if Elysian can get 2900 skins
Not surprised
Alongside Tanith, Catachan
Subjective
Catachan plz
Commisar ciaphas Cain and all that
catachan cosmetics
torso is just shirtless with some camo paint
that'd be 2900 + tip
You can also send a bolter round with a 100% crit chance through the same skull
No Tanith is surprising given who wrote the games background lore
Sly Marbo enjoyer
Oh yeahhhhh
Abnett
real
Forgot about that
almost all the ranged weapons are pretty fun on vey
Tf kinda story is abnett writing for Darktide lol
so its sad people just plasma one trick every match
He wrote the background lore as mentioned. Still is actually.
I rarely see plasma in public lobbies
Fair, I kinda wonder how he’s gonna take things forward
Real shit
Yes
I want a imperial navy breachers skin line
Idk how you’re gonna put an ogryn in an imperial navy suit but
Pls 🙏
Ok controversial take but I think eisenhorn is a bad starting point for warhammer, gaunts ghost is a little better, but infinite and the divine is the best starting point
I play that and it is not that the other options aren’t good, it’s that they require effort while middle path is good and almost zero effort
My right wrist is kinda fucked up so it is indeed harder for me to do subtle movements to the cursor
Vet can build their melee and their grenade path for horde clear, yes
csword and psword two of the best horde clear weapons imo
Omg I really wanna get those tbh
I just finished reading kingmaker
This game was made for masochists so I guarantee that is someone’s fetish and I am not going to kinkshame them.
I don’t wanna start on any of the Horus heresy books until someone can recommend me one that’s as good as helsreach 🤣
And that
helbore would be so good if its sight was better
As a lorenerd my thoughts are the next update will be about the Cult.
The main thing we've learned this year are about the moebian 6th and their origins and why they fell.
Rolling steel introduced the 53rd and they were sent by lord Margrave and following scab lore the nobles aren't existed... squeaky clean, ontop of that Rinda is back. So I think that's what's next.
And we'd either go spireside or even lower in the Hive.
In terms of space marine centric books
When you use the surgical blessing on the boltgun you can crit every shot and the target explodes
I agree. I hope the next major like “antagonist” will be a team actually, a team of like dark commune from 40K
We've got some cultist name drops
Ermal in hab dreyko and uhhhhhhhh whatever the guy from the delisted video was called
Like I want to fight this
Gaunts ghosts very good btw I've been reading it
but it was about tallarn desert raiders being assigned to an ice planet
Rinda’s essentially the one on the top left
Paint em yellow if you want em to be part of the cult or leave em as it is if they’re gonna be the moebian’s dark commune
Okay one thing about the 53rd
I was hoping Dukane wouldn’t be on the ship
Like
exterminator was its name "The Tallarn Desert Raiders are out of their element as they are dispatched to an inhospitably cold planet. Trooper Larno Semic is assigned as driver to a Leman Russ Exterminator with a hostile crew, and ordered to escort important cargo across the frozen wastes. But when said cargo breaks loose, the crew must use all of their resources to survive in the midst of the icy storm."
In a sense that from rolling steel and initial impressions, I thought it would be cool if Dukane would just be kept in the dark the whole time about the mourningstar and the rejects’ true operations
Like Dukane’s in charge of the frontal assault right? Why would she need to know about inquisitorial business? I thought it would be cool to have her constantly underestimate the rejects, and have Rannick or Morrow keep trying to hide the true nature of their operations from her
Then slowly she’d catch on that they’re something more going on with Atoma, which is why the rejects are all here
Anyways that’s my thoughts on Dukane as a lore nerd🤣
Oooooh that sounds sick
well there are a few reasons there.
atoma is a losing battle in her eyes and pooling resources could help
also i dont get the vibes she isnt traditional when it comes to procedure and battles seeing as she has taken command of a regiment
which isnt something commissars are known to do
we will find out in time whenever they introduce new character they tend to get more dialogue in missions down the line
like us finding out kayex was senile lol
But also maybe she is on the mourningstar to sew discourse (even if she doesn't know it)
She can disapprove of parts of the inquisitions plan. Cause hold ups. Cause problems and if a noble, a noble who happens to be in the cult, sent her here it'd be convenient
there is nothing in her dialogue that really proves that things we have from her so far are trying to solve supply issues in the 53rd, getting the command uplink on the morningstar fixed, and us working and pushing with the 53rd to gain more ground on the planet
what i really hope is it leads to some more alive missions
like you know that mission in vermintide 2 when you arrive at the keep thats under siege
stuff like that would be so cool
Oooh yeah I mean I hope it leads to stuff like that
I really found the interactions between her and morrow interesting
Like the vibe that morrow’s deliberately trying to not give her so many details
Morrow is the goat so it makes sense
Maybe down the line we can have a mission where we conduct espionage against the 53rd👀
I think in like 4 years time though secrets of the machine god will be considered the most important story update funnily enough
Hell yeah
I think it would be awesome if like
We got a mission where a 53rd base is under attack
Then we have to go in under the guise of idk, securing the 53rd’s extraction or something
But in reality we’re being sent to conduct espionage
tbf the entire warband has kind of been like this with everyone not in the inner circle
goes as far as things you can see like
"nah there isnt a second hive city"
"whats that over there morrow"
"shut up is what that is"
“There’s is no genestealers in the 2nd hive city”
Like maybe morrow/rannick could be sending us to find some dirt on Dukane
the funny beloved psyker also has some voice lines saying the inquisition hasnt blew the planet up cause they are either looking for something deep under the hive or the source of chaos is deep under the hive so exterminatus wouldnt work
Morrow acting the softest he’s ever been towards the rejects since the carnival during rolling steel was somehow, really uplifting
Because he likes the rejects and us as acolytes
Almost someone everyone kinda does. Except like the nobles and sometimes rannick takes the piss
he also has that line on hab dreyko end eveny where he tells mazozi if she doesnt hurry up and land we are dead
all the other people would just be like
oh 4 dead rejects
meanwhile hadron has formally requested to kill us like 10 times
some of those for being .1 of a second late
But she also likes us
Or losing the servo skull for a second
She likes us in a way only she can
I’m pretty sure Brahms is the only one who hates our guts
We did the clandestine Gloriana mission and we're now her like 3rd favourite person
"i wish i could send all of you away"
Ok but real shit what happened to the armourer
From some old (leaked dialogue) she may grow to like us too.
This may have been cut but there's a kinda vendor dialogue where she offers to hire you.
Awww cute
Where’s my elucidian starstrider outfits Brahms 🥺
Give them to me
Ok to be fair we already have a rogue trader skin line
We do and it's pretty dang good
But it’s modeled after the owlcat RPG(?) I want my proper starstrider outfit
there is a cadian vet voice line that im pretty sure is recorded wrong involving brahms
he says
"the shipmistress and brahms there is a story there dont you think"
but brahms is the shipmistress
It kinda is? There are no Ogryns in rogue trader though so
Speaking tangentially about warhammer and owlcat and video games, wouldn’t it be amazing if Larian did a dark heresy game 😁 one can only dream
True
Maybe he meant seneschal?
Going from hasbro to games workshop nightmare development rotation
Don’t think an ogryn would look good in this aesthetic now that I think about it
recent GW licensed games have cooked
Everyone else would go hard tho
Doesn't mean they're good to work with though
rogue trader, darktide and space marine 2 ( we dont talk about its recent terrible update)
I mean you've heard why we can't take our shirts off
I think Hasbro would be much more of a nightmare than GW. Feels like GW gives game creators much more leeway
They’re 100% coming
people mad bout sm2 update xD
I wanna see if they put the desolation marine rocket launchers into SM2 lol
They aren't game director said gw wanted them on terminators only
And we're not gonna get a terminator class
the update was far to heavy handed
On the tabletop?
I meannnnn I kinda see why😅 it wouldn’t really make sense to see a reiver demolish a terminator in multiplayer
I don't believe
i havent played the new update tbh
To this.
kinda wish there was some more depth to the classes but still a great game
Hmmm honestly that’s probably why
They can take the heavy bolt rifle though which is interesting.
But you can't in sm2
That's probably a balance thing
Can you imagine if Larian makes a dark heresy game tho
It'd probably be awesome
I’d settle for a WH fantasy RP video game but that’s DEFINITELY a legal nightmare
I feel fantasy is a better medium for a crpg
Except outside of like the context of rogue trader which is obviously taken
Yeah, shame about the whole crucible games/games workshop fiasco
Oh well there’s always soulbound from AOS right guys 🤣🤣🤣
I never thought I could play a TTRPG that made your character power up faster than DnD 5e
Until Soulbound
Soulbound gives you power ups like goku ngl
could i get opinions on this volley fire boltgun build i've been using
I suggest you move the +1 stam node for the +5% speed node. Probably better overall if you simply move faster. Also I'd drop Surgical as you're not going for any crits and pick up Puncture instead
I'd also replace Flak for Maniac if you don't -1hit kill flamers
or Elite damage if you do as you're likely not hitting flak unless you're just mag dumping
I will be honest, I feel I'd get less value from puncture since I'm 1-tapping nearly everything
but makes sense for maniac
the problem is if you're already 1-tapping then why Surgical anyways? Might as well get Puncture to save ammo on the targets you may have somehow hit a limb on
obligatory bosses too
Basically gets all the edge cases
Like dreg gunner
Oh
Better crusher and maulers damage
Nvm it’s boltgun
that i why I took it
Yea boltgun if you want puncture you then have to take shattering impact
I too hate armor
Fatshark pls make DoTs ignore armor again UwU
Like puncture is gonna do jack shit against a crusher
indeed
not disagreeing with you as you stated a pretty good reason
was thinking you would melee them but Chainsword vs crushers is hmmmmm
I bring the chainsword since it just stupidly versitile
Great horde clear and I also like being able to one tap specials
I mainly use it for those two reasons
"one tap specials" brb meleeing the trappers UwU
sawing mutants in half never gets old
i mean, it can one tap all of them with the ability
I know just joking :p
seems like your build is fine imo
obligatory "oh chainsword really wants attack speed"
but I doubt you can afford to get Trench Fighter
I've been doing fine without trench fighter, not to see it isnt good
yeah I personally just think its too much opportunity cost to get
but I can definitely see why chainsword would want attack speed
5 points minimum for you :c
What's the dump stat on plasma gun?
71 charge
69 thermal resist
Everything else 80
Oh, that seems a bit unusually specific. How come plasma’s dump stat is like that?
I see.
Also I’ve been running nothing but the same power sword on vet since the game came out. What are vet’s best melee options nowadays?
Wanna mix up my melee game a bit.
if you mean the Mk3 power sword, the Mk6 is basically superior in every way
Rashad is the best overall melee option
you're good then
I’m running power cycled and wrath on it, that okay?
Rashad, Dueling Sword, MK6 combat knife, Psword are what I hear are really good picks
get Brutal Momentum, its just superior to Wrath
as long as you aim for the head that is
I try.
MkIV chainaxe kinda slept on
Yippie c:
was revolver stealth nerfed? I swear I used to be able to onetap crushers...
I love stunning anything with lights
Rashad the combat axe yeah? I tried that in my Zealot and quite liked it. Is it solid for horde clear though? I tend to use my melee for huge groups of trash mobs mainly, since my primary is usually Helbore, plasma, recon, boltgun etc.
also idk when you last played, but Psword has a new option in their moveset. The Push attack does huge single target damage
I legit never ever use the push attack on any melee because I forget it exists.
one of the best horde clear weapons in the game... love it
It'll be your best friend vs carapace and bosses
Bear in mind I normally play on difficulty 4 so missions are fairly casual, but I’m trying to get better so I can tackle higher tier missions with friends.
btw I should be clear that Rashad's performace is overall better than Psword except vs bosses
but Rashad needs skill points to really shine
Duelling sword looks corny, though I’m sure it’s very strong. I think I got a good roll on a knife so could try that, dunno how good that’s gone be for horde clear though. Will keep an eye out for a good roll Rashad from now on.
so it can be a bit inflexble due to REALLY wanting the node Trench Fighter
That’s okay, honestly if it’s a boss I’m almost never using my sword anyway, I’m mag dumping with plasma or going for charge weak spot shots with hellebore etc.
Dueling Sword horde clear is shit but they'll never touch you so its ok
never hurts to have the funny "3000 damage in 1 swing" melee weapon
I just realized I need Long-range Assassin on Marksman's Focus for it. I had traded it out for Camo.
Nerfed back on Orthus Offensive
now I'm popping the big boys
I thought Rashad had very vertical swings downward, am I mixing it up?
all overhead strikes yup
the trick is Rashad gets brutal momentum
which lets you kill like 4 people per swing
And my assumption was the good horde clear melees are the ones with nice big horizontal swings with good cleave?
essentially yes
though Heavy Sword perfectly suits this role and people don't use it because you also want something to handle armor
Why not just let their gun handle that? Is it just good practice to have both your weapons handle everything so you got no weaknesses?
rashad's horde clear comes from being able to delete all the trash with 1 to 2 swings
Because your gun could be dry. Assuming perfect conditions is not a good idea in Darktide
you could also be swamped and can't afford to swap
I have a good roll assault chain sword, catachan and shock maul, these no good?
Rashad can kill maulers and crushers in 2-3 hits
ragers is 2
no harm in having a melee you know will dumpster anything you look at
those are "usable" melee but not the best
And just so I fully understand, power sword block attack does much higher damage than the normal/charge swings?
for single target yes
even with builds that don't spec at all into melee, I still find the Rashad incredibly strong as a generalist/horde clear weapon
you just need to dodge more
Good to know when dealing with armoured enemies.
the push attack does like 3.5x more damage than a normal attack
if you have Maniac damage perk on the Psword, you can 1-hit kill mutants with the push attack
And what makes the knife a solid melee? I need to find a good roll Rashad, but I do have a knife with good rolls, could use that in the meantime.
Psword is raw damage output, Rashad is no weakness basically
the psword push attack also combos into a light attack, which is the easy oneshot combo for crushers/maulers/reapers
extremely mobile, good damage output
And I assume power sword is only good if you got it powered up, so a lot of 3 hits and bash to charge then repeat etc.
knife has the problem with horde clear but apparently a good build can handle hordes
I personally never used knife and only heard about it
yes
you can animation cancel the charge by blocking immediately
I was considering a knife build with the right side of the talent tree, commando I think? A quick swap weapon build for fun, if that’s viable.
so you can charge really fast if you need
Knife takes a lot more effort to be good but it's really good when it gets there
I did not know this. I get my charge disrupted by attacks or having to dodge a lot which can feel cumbersome at times. Will practice that.
definitely viable! I run a melee-focused knife vet build sometimes
yeah very handy, and because its blocking to cancel it you can block the attacks that would normally interrupt your charge
You got a build for that I can use? Maybe I can do something like knife / revolver and just quick swap constantly.
Sure thing! Give me one sec to upload it onto the build site
I run the same helbore build 90% of the time since release and I’m starting to get burned out from that, trying to find some variety.
i'm impressed, found helbore soooo janky to run with
saaame
every time I try the Helbore thinking I might change my opinion on it
I get reminded why I don't use it

Yeah it doesn’t seem to be very popular or meta, but I love tapping heads non-stop and the charge shots let me take down tankier enemies too. Bayonet gets used for melee more than my actual melee most of the time lol.
me recently
Personally I only use the light variant, tried the medium and heavy recently and I didn’t like them as much. Heavy especially felt quite bad.
i think it's an acquired taste
But if our team is struggling I run plasma gun and it sorta feels like it does the same thing without having to be as accurate and better armour pen.
plasma cannon when? UwU
Is right side tree still considered bad nowadays?
I made a heavy variant build that uses smokes and exe stance
I want to test it but I'm afraid to get my heart broken again
there's the knife build for ya
Sweet, thanks bud, will give this a spin.
To the contrary it’s good. Left side is the weakest atm
No problem! If you enjoy this playstyle knife zealot is an even crazier version
Oh sweet. I’ve been running left today because I’ve been trying out the boltgun, I’m sure the build I put together is shit since I don’t know about damage break points and stuff, but it’s fun to use.
Tried that on my zealot this week and it was very fun but also kinda exhausting to play like that lol.
I’m used to chilling and tapping heads.
Felt like I was on aderall with zealot.
Exec stance bolter can be a lot of fun, you’d just be a bit squishy if you’re not careful
I kinda just mash left click on faces with knife while constantly running circles around enemies. No idea if that’s optimal but it works for Heresy
Nah that's... that's basically it

Right, gonna go make that build and run some missions with it, cheers for the tips folks.
Oh and you might already know but the push attack on the mk6 is REALLY good so make sure you're using that
On the knife? Don’t think I’ve even seen what it looks like yet so will give it a try.
I’m just reading what some of these talents do since I’ve never played commando before, trying to see how it wants me to play.
Yep! It's their best single-target attack. You just spam push attack.
Can snipers still see me through it?
Frags are still the universally good nade
no
nah they just give up
thankfully they made from "meme" to "usable"
Good enough then.
smoke nades are like bubble shield at home
Only thing I would change is dropping field improvisation and adopting grenade tinkerer, but that is a subjective opinion and not an objective rule
I have just the thing. Psyker with Electrokinetic staff. It has a pretty novel special attack. I am sure it would add some variety.
Actually I should show you guys my Hellbore build since I run it so much I should get you guys to optimise it for me if you are familiar with Helbore stuff.
as people have mentioned, they're decent now but kind of niche.
they'll completely block snipers and stop regular shooters from targeting you. gunners will keep shooting into the smoke, but won't track your movement so you can use it to get out of the way.
the most useful element is that hound and trapper targeting is heavily reduced by smoke, so they'll need to run into/through the smoke in order to begin their attacks from very close range giving you more time to take them down or react.
What's the best way to share my build with you guys? That games lantern site?
generally you'll drop them at your feet to protect you during a big melee situation or lob them forwards to try and force shooters to break cover and come towards you/change position.
I use the game lantern build editor
it's also worth noting that you can be "in" the smoke near the edge of it's area and have good visability out while still getting the benefits of it's protection
think of the smoke as a weaker version of the psyker shield bubble which you can spam more often.
and use it accordingly :>
(it also staggers when it pops? which again isn't phenominal but it can come in handy)
They are good as long as you stay inside the smoke
Mark V is the lightest version of the Helbore right?
dueling sword for vet, or is knife still better ?
Game keeps crashing when I alt tab so making this on the site is killing me, but almost there.
It never used to be like this, only after I came back with the big itimization patch.
my game occasionally changes its resolution when i alt tab
expecting Darktide to be stable after a major patch?
what blessings/perks you like on it ?
I like to pretend the opening cutscene with them going through the warp is how patch day feels.
Okay so this is basically my build.
Before I used to run executioners stance with Helbore, but after the big patch reset my talent points, I found a YouTube build and used that which runs shout instead.
i do uncanny/riposte + cara/maniac
thanks, I will give it a shot
People here always tell me YouTube builds are bad, so hoping you guys can help me refine that. I just want to get the most out of my Hellbore play seeing as it's what I mainly run.
Remove Longshot, get One Motion (to the right at the top) instead
Longshot is shit due to its scaling
Done.
+0.6% damage at 13m (something like that) to +20% damage at 30m
Helbore should be more fluid with One Motion due to being able to pull it out faster
For sure, though honestly I normally just bayonet 80% of enemies and only bring out the Power Sword if I'm totally swamped or heavy armoured specials somehow got in my face before I sniped them.
Consider Agile Engagement with helbores, it procs on the bayonet
You're also using the fast Helbore
Which doesn't really need WoF
But then again
Not a lot of good blessings
is hellbore usuable now ? like you are not trolling if you take it to aulric ?
Yeah if there's not a better alternative I'll leave it on for now.
I don't think I've ever run Aulric in my life, but I don't think Helbore is considered 'meta'.
I normally run Heresy.
I hope I can still enjoy my Helbore as I work my way up to higher tier missions though. I think the crazier things get, the harder it becomes to be able to ADS and pop heads because you've often got zombies whacking you and knocking off your aim, I guess that's where Shout comes in handy though.
yeah in aulric everything has to be fast, you can face packs of like 10 shotgunners or 5 crushers
does it at least cleave like plasma ?
Like shoot through multiple enemies? I think with charge shot yes, but I've only really noticed it against trash mobs, not sure if I get collateral shots like that against specials/elites.
ah I see so there is some cleave, but not infinite cleave like plasma
Yeah, maybe better cleave on the heavier variants, I run the light one.
only way i could see something designed like a sniper rifle like helbore being useable here is either by having comedic cleave or comedic rending plasma gun
Dearest Vets,
How the hell do you use the Power Sword? Sincerely, a Zealot main
It's a very satisfying weapon for me, but like I said earlier I feel like I could run plasma gun, and just hip fire on the move and still drop targets as easily if not easier. I put up with the extra effort because popping heads is very satisfying, but yeah, doesn't seem like it would scale well on higher tier missions where things can get very, very chaotic.
youve summed it up pretty well
For hordes, you push enemies away, power up the sword, animation cancel with block, and then do 2-3 slashes to cut through everyone like a knife through butter. That's how I use it generally, not sure if optimal.
Apparently the block attack stab is very good for dealing with more tanky targets. Make sure you're running power cycler blessing too, goes a long way to make the weapon feel good I think.
knife zealot is the fastest way to contract a repetitive strain injury as of yet
Gotcha. I was going mid-tree 'cuz I like being shouty. Havent got enough mastery for the VI yet, may go with a diff weapon, dunno. 'ppreciate it
efficiency made manifest :)
im gonna get carpal tunnel one of these days
mods can fix that
well, mods can fix the clicking, but they won't fix carpal lol
mk6 knife also puts less strain on your fingers
It's crazy what you can do with mods. I'm running vanilla, but my friend has mods to help with the minigames, he has a mod that lets him run sights and put a laser on his Helbore or other guns, he has a scoreboard and sends me a screenshot post-mission on our performance, it's nuts.
My other friend hates that he can do all that. "This isn't how the game is meant to be played!
"
enjoy the carpal tunnel then
Gotta say, having a nice red dot sight on my Helbore is very enticing.
having good crosshairs is worth it
Those aren't really threats to Helbore
i dont actually have much of a problem with repetitive clicking im just jokin
for now. carpal tunnel is no joke. take care of your hands
As veteran I don't even consider shotgunners a "special", though they do annoy me on my zealot when I'm trying to get in close with melee lol.
no game is worth carpal tunnel.
It's running into 6-8 crushers up close, or those carapace humanoids with the axes.
theyre elites
not specials
I always forget the difference.
In my brain there's "trash mobs" and "specials" basically. And Bosses I guess.
So the scav machine gunners are elites for example?
yeah
Gotcha, makes sense.
they can be obnoxious if they dont join the horde but they usually do and at range in isolation theyre very easy to dodge
I think the only thing that's semi confusing with this description is sniper
snipers are specials, despite just shooting people
if ten of them show up, you can get deleted very very quickly if you're not careful
elites are just shit that's pre-existing on the map, and not normal trash fodder
but the rest of the specials are very obviously specials with grabs or fire
specialists are the shit that spawn and try to put you in a net
You haven't felt true fear until you have 15 of them when you're the last one standing
That was fun
best part is getting ping ponged by their shots into a crusher overhead
I had a mutant save my life yesterday.
One of those suicide bombers was about to wreck my health.
Picked me up, tossed me out of the AOE.
Absolute bro.
well sometimes they'll do the opposite
