ayo
id stick with the guide over what i said
ok
the online version is updated the pdf isnt
Infernus is still very mid even in its single best use case (6d)
ok
You can use it if you like it. It's unclear how much practical benefit headhunter provides but I'd at least take a 5% crit perk and the 5% crit node if you intend to go infernus.
me everytime i wanna read the guide
@dawn garnet the online version to which the link is provided is weird
there is same page again and again
No I mean it's not opening correctly
🤔 try exporting it to pdf
What build?
regardless of builds it has a lot of useful info
Wish the vet guide was as good as the Psyker one
more ammo efficiency with shocktroop, less overall damage, besides unyielding at more than 12.5 m away which headhunter infernus will outpace
What's a good gun that can horde clear and kill large enemies
I've been using the columnus
Recon 6D
Just to note, less overall damage also means less ammo efficiency.
Az says he was getting about 3-5% higher crit rate overall with headhunter vs without, and assuming that is accurate then it's very little in practice (a 5% crit perk alone translates to about 9.5% unconditional crit chance due to strings)
However that's anecdotal and contaminated evidence
So take it with a grain of salt
@radiant chasm
Hungry little guy.
Hellbore and shovel
Real
I'll blast through some malice missions when I get home from work today
Which blitz and special you thinking?
If you do exe stance with cara damage on helbore you can do normal sapper shovel, if you want VoC or Infil mk7 fold shovel will probably be better
I usually do mk7 shovel/mk2 helbore with shout
VoC is usually a safer pick
Yeahhh
Try to get +unarmored damage as one of the helbore perks as that lets you one shot dreg gunners on headshot for mk2
Alright
Also surgical is pretty much a must pick blessing for all the helbores
Which helbore variant?
Go with mk2, it's got the fastest charge and still hits pretty hard
Alright
Mk3 hits the hardest but has a very long charge and the bayonet (the big draw on helbores) has an awful attack on that variant
Surgical + weight of fire are the BIS blessings.
Run shock trooper for significantly improved ammo economy.
For mk1 and 3 yeah you want both, for mk2 I'd argue it charges fast enough that you can get away with other blessing choices
There aren't really blessing choices that are worth using, though.
Shock trooper is a must pick with em yea
Sure, you could run infernus, but the only thing surviving a helbore crit headshot is a boss or things that aren't gonna care about burn damage anyway.
Now I gotta make the perk tree
So really you're sacrificing charge rate for potential higher boss damage, which you don't really need.
Ideally it's weight of fire as second blessing on mk2 but sustained fire or no respite are fine as backups if you have locks (which mine does)
My case won't be relevant in a week anyways
I see barely a use in survivalist, do you think fire team is a better aura perk?
Survivalist can be used in place of shock trooper if you're already pathing to exe stance.
Otherwise I wouldn't bother using it.
Alright
Congratulations on becoming a convict, btw. You now have image perms.
Field improvisation?
No
Oh type shit?
Ok
The only way it's better is for pathing, in which there's a tradeoff
Even if you don't personally need surv, it helps your team
Whereas the odds of the damage actually affecting random teammates breakpoints in a noticeable manner is quite unlikely
Anything you think I should switch out or add?
I don't use helbores so I can't give you terribly specific advice for those
But iirc agile engagement should work on the bayonet
shreds are also generally better than kraks
Charged helbore shots are already target agnostic
What about serated blade?
Just keep that in mind. There's also probably more you can do for bayonet leveraging but I can't recall the specifics
Serrated is only relevant if you want to take mercy killer knife
Especially since it's competing with agile, it's very hard to justify
Alright
Lmk what you think?
I do a more support style with born leader but you have options, the setup is pretty versatile
Anyone play with some fun chainsword builds that aren't entirely middle tree?
Could anyone help me with a weapon specialist build using a laspistol and powersword?
Born leader is very low value unless you're dedicating your entire setup to it with something like gloryhunter plasma
trying a chain sword/plasma gun combo. first time using the two for veteran are these two good stats?
Bo
Noo
You want as high as you can stopping powerr
And damage
For the plasmagun
It looks like you're not max level yet so like
stopping power being dumped on plasma means ur losing out on a lot of damage for armour, maniacs, and bosses.
plus the infested damage perk is not suited to plasma
I wouldn't worry toooo much
also yeah, theyre not great base power either (typically looking for around 370) but theyll get better as u level
the chainsword is also dumping damage which isnt ideal
Yeah I am only lvl 26 veteran at the moment I bought the two random weapons from the brunts armoury. Should I level up some more before trying my luck with the armoury again?
yeah its worth saving resources for a good weapon roll until ur max level
ull get the 4 levels pretty quickly anyway
Yee as Ev said it's definelty better to start trying to make good weapons at max level
That gives you the highest potential
thank you for the help. Hopefully i'll get some better luck with the brunts armoury when I am higher level.
i just started using the revolver fr
whats with people complaining about me using it?
what have you guys been doing?
Its meta but also really fun
ignore haters and complainers, and always grief krieg vets
thats my moto
homie told me its underpowered
Hahaha
I mean if youre shooting carapace, yeah???
the main thing about the revolver is it's high damage, primarily used to dispatched annoying enemies like specialist or elite
if youre shooting carapace, something has gone terribly wrong or there's a gun lugger ogryn near by
the cowboy one feels a lil weak compared to the mk2
well the cowboy one also has a speed loader and better ads imo
but it's perfable to like
a headhunter autogun
different strokes i suppose
Revolvers are strong but struggle at dealing with ranged non-elite shooters in any reasonable amount of time unless you can catch them going conga line through a door. But if you've shot the elites and specials you can just rush them in melee
the cowboy revolver is not good
It's mostly just that they were once overused and sorta trivialize things but now people are using more weapons more often so people don't complain about them anymore LOL
the zarona revolver is S+ tier
Agripina Revolver is getting a buff next update
Additional cleave
Fingers crossed but it could end up just being better than Zarona with the change
i still think the cowboy one is more fun to use, its a shame its worse
mostly because veteran is pidgeonholed / best suited for specialist deletion, the cowboy revolver suffers
I mean hold on
WS with revolver
Hand cannon
Surgical
like you'll find your losses in aurics are almost always because nobody can reliably kill snipers or tox bombers
Decimates crushers
and then they pile up on you and you get blasted
it's not a massive change but at least it will feel more punchy to maybe hit the intended target in a horde
the zarona is awesome into crushers and maulers lol
Especially if you just hit a crit headshot with the weakpoint damage
especially weapon spec zarona
2 shots crushers after you kill 1 poxwalker in the horde
Roll it back though the revolver is very good vs crushers
You just have to land headshots
and because weapon spec auto reloads, it deletes thsoe crusher trains rather easily
its still a 2shot with crits
That's good!
plasmagun can do it faster i suppose
No
thats about it
literally the only thing zarona is not good at is bulwarks
You can hit a 1 shot too with the orange buffs iirc
It takes 3 shots
you have to wait for the crit on the revolver tho
Not if you take Weapon spec
Also the weird bullet magnetism means you can sorta aim over the shield and hit a headshot depending on the distance and angle
And a high level surgical makes crits in under like 5 seconds
ye, first shot crits, second one is not guaranteed
i should test the dps compared to the plasma gun
You have 1 guranteed shot in WS
thats what i sadi
ive come around on crucian roulette with weapon spec zarona
Its not bad!
it is really strong
Hear me out, use the HHA instead so you have extra ammo remaining to drop the other gunners surrounding the bulwark
considering the auto loading keeps you at 1-2 rounds in a horde
It's really just Always Prepared letting you slap one poxwalker and juggle firing the zarona and going melee without needing to reload during intense moments
It’s a combo of that and the Zarona just being stupidly powerful
Plasma gets bottlenecked by heat but zarona just never stops
You quickly come to terms when you realize the HHAs will always be outperformed by them but realize they always have enough bullets to drop a pack of gunners vs the former
i really should try to make a build for the headhunter guns next
It’s shockingly easy to work with as long as you get Precision Stikes, the 30% Weakspot hit increase
My HHA build is a WS build of all things
Rending strikes can also shockingly help HHAs
what is HHA
headhunter autoguns
you mean...its the sign of a REAL veteran?
i just found out yesterday that zealot cancels the bolter ready animation with knife throw, so ive been living my bolter fantasies 1 week early
before i go back to bolter vet
Agri 9 is just the “weaker” of the bunch cause of its unusual 2 burst recoil pattern
It’s still good and if you can tame it’s recoil it’s really damn good
You can also swap quickly by starting a reload, then cancelling it by sprinting. This of course requires a non-full mag though
the cowboy one
and better ads imo
lol
Vegeta has a complex opinion on the government.
I have purchased the rights from Spancy for streaming purposes.
The remixed version of the song with different production is releasing on Friday on all streaming platforms (SEE LINK BELOW).
(FREE) (HARD) Lil Durk x King Von Type Beat - "Raw" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ2RP7A-Py4
ALBUM OUT...
LET ME SPEAK TO THE PEOPLE PICCOLO
THEY NEED TO HEAR THIS
No one’s stopping you
Agri 9 is the weakest variant. Last I checked it had a worse recoil pattern and dps compared to the vraks 3. The only upside it had over the 3 is that the 3 seems to be bugged and has redonkulous recoil at lower stability values for no reason.
But it stabilizes very well at high stability values
Yeah I’d say if we’re like ranking them
The Agri 9 is like a B+
It’s still really fucking good if you can click on heads and manage it’s recoil
It just gets over shadowed by its siblings
Agri revolver is uh
its clearly weaker than the autoguns right?
Red headed stepchild compared to the zarona
IAGs?
Infantry aka full auto
stacking onslaught with high rate of fire should always be better
I think headhunters are comparable to the iag's
Onslaught is only really relevant on carapace
Onslaught is okay and all just don’t use it on Agri or Graia
CIAG
go nuts
But the other two just do Rending strikes
shouldnt brittleness be better either way?
I’d say HHA compared to IAG is genuinely just on preference
If you can click on heads use HHAs
If you’re looking to help your team out yes
But if we’re vet min maxxing
Use Rending cause it’s enough to drop Cara for yourself
i should give the hhas a try again
So the issue is that brittleness/rending has significantly reduced value at adm's over 100%.
And most weapons are not substantially gimped against other armor types (at least anymore)
I’d say- do Either Vraks version
When you get comfy with them
Try out the Agri 9
Test them out in the psyk with loadout monitor or whatever it's called
Before you dump resources into them
Mk7 Surgical + Deadly Accurate
i got like 50k plasteel
ill be fine
That's not a lot
Mk3 Headhunter + Deadly accurate
Agri 9 imo can be either or on how you play
Path who’s making the vet guide says
Surgical + DA
Personally I use
Headhunter + DA
I’d say if you’re more prone to take your time do this with Agri
Based on my testing with the recoil on repeated firing, I'd go surgical on the 9 too
If you’re a meth head who immediately runs in and fires as much as possible I run this
Wasn't stable enough for my liking like a high stab v3
Which barely budges on full auto
Yeah it’s why V3 is better
I’ve just learned to tame A9
Hence why I’m unironically shouting for HH + DA pairing
So take into account my bias of that
Probably do surgical first
I’ll state this
A pretty important BP is Unarmored for the HHAs
This’ll do
to 1shot gunners?
But Unarmored allows you to 1 Tap Dreg Gunners on headshot
ic
🗣️🗣️🗣️
crit dmg on the other perk or what?
You’ll get your crits from surgical or Headhunter
And Crit damage just isn’t enough vs like
Unarmored or Flak
So a “God Combo”
For perks
Would be like Unarmored + Flak imo
But you could do maniac and Unarmored?…
Cause HHAs struggle against maniac enemies
The big three you want would be though
Unarmored/Flak/Maniac
rending helps with that because it's due to negative modifiers
Shockingly helps with Cara as well
If you click on a crushers head
It’s mainly cause of the Finesse modifiers HHAs have
from memory headhunters really pop with some rending
they do
I should check the crit damage on them
agri has some poor recoil
would probably work fine with an exe build though
given how much exe patches recoil
The "crit rending" phenomena is actually just a trend of arbitrarily higher crit damage against unyielding/carapace
So when you add rending to that, you do surprisingly more damage
Yeah that’s why I say it’s the weakest and straight up tell new vets to try the others first before trying it
Like
If you roll a A9 with recoil 70<
Fucking toss it
This is why the emperor invented loadout monitor
what else would you call the right mouse button, secondary fire lmao?
We call it braced
Bracing
It's more that the zarona is perfectly accurate while ads even while moving it seems, and cowboy is uh
Well, not perfectly accurate to say the least while bracing
Zarona is just the Agri but better in every way sadly
It’s extremely overtuned
It’s why I hate the fucking thing
And use HHAs
Well aktchually it has a speed loader so it's totally even 🤓
It could use some normalization similar to what the thammer is going through though
I don't see weapons that have bad ADMs but OBLITERATE unyielding as good design
as they just exist to remove the fun from monstro modifiers and nothing else
but the funny thing is Zarona also obliterates unyielding
Plush
Nothing pisses me off more
Knowing a Zarona user can outperform me by existing
When I’m using a HHA
lmao lemme just melee 1 poxwalker and then take out my revolver again
then melee another poxwalker
maybe if the highest difficulties of this game didnt depend on being able to instantly kill targets at long range, the zarona would be less overtuned
and take out my revolver again
Well I don't love it either but I also don't want to end up with another autopistol tier gun
so there has to be a middleground
Extreme hatred
that is some bs
I think we are too far gone for having balanced weapons in this game unfortunately
so what I mean to say is
I hope you like plasma vets in your lobby
Also god not looking forward to it
the game design doesnt reward many non single shot vet guns because of how 1 shotting specials from long range is the most important quality for high difficulties, it is what it is at this point
whats the hha?
Headhunter Autoguns
Semi or Burst Rifles
Reward clicking on heads
there are a lot of guns with varying degrees of jank or bad ADMS
headhunter autoguns would be nice with some sort of sight besides the iron sights
and then you have revolver with no spread, no sway, bullet magnetism, instant swap, amazing ADMS, surgical, good finesse, good rending etc etc
even teh columnus, if you had a HISTG match of 4 IAG5 users, it would be much sweatier than a match of 4 zarona revolvers
Sentenced to next 10 lobbies having only psword/plasma vets https://tenor.com/sl9fgBifkTF.gif
Also you can correct me if I'm wrong but
I don't think zarona has any meaningful dmg fall-off either
its a sniper rifle
cosplaying as a pistol
Why would this game ever have a longlas when zarona exists anyhow
there is no room or need for it
because it's a 40k game
I wouldn’t mind the Zarona pulling off this BS
So the issue doesn't seem to be BAD adm's, it's near 100% at close range for flak. Maniac is even higher but the exact amount isn't listed on the pen stat for whatever reason.
IF IT HAD HUGE DAMAGE FALL OFF
I seriously don’t mind it being a pocket cannon if it was forced into a close range role only
I mean you have %170 near unyielding with %70 far flak thats kind of telling isn't it
Operations, Rutheless, don’t play Melta
That’s literally the reason
Melta and Multi melta are
does the gun need this kind of unyielding I'm not sure
Literally the best weapons in the game
It has a normal amount at 20%~, but rending just from the crit rending blessing will keep you above 100%.
GL is second place
It does, too bad the playstyle of this gun doesn't really mesh with surgical though
Multi is bugged where you can just instantly get all your HP back
I guess that is one big contributor to why zarona feels so much better for general use besides the aim shenanigans
Its trivial to get %100 crit rate with it
You're basically never going to deal with the far values on the agri due to how shit it is past 15m
But it's just a small nitpick as bad adm's CAN be fixed
Invigorating gameplay
we had this talk before
But normal adm's and positive adm's cannot
If your gun relies on having super high adm to do damage
Idk man I have so many small issues with the game that I’m just putting it on the back burner till they tweak some of the weaker weapons
Click on head
Get all your HP back
It’s good cause it’s bugged
The moment they fix it though it’ll immediately be bad
Have we? It's been awhile
It has a lot of spread if you ram the trigger but the TLDR of it is you're more likely to pop a head than not within 30 meters
I had so much ape shit thrown at me last time for saying you can just momentarily crouch to shrink the cone for an important shot
yes the gun will sometimes miss
But only if you pace your shots while standing still
no it doesn't make it okay that I'm getting robbed shots for not running surgical like zarona does
I know this is an argument for a different weapon, but like this seriously helps with the A9, sometimes just crouching makes it easier
yes you can crouch to gain smaller cone on some weapons, lost tech to vet mains
With Tyranids, originally I hated fighting them
last time I tried to talk this point I was ridiculed because ''you can't stop in a horde game''
Now I like fighting them cause you can manage the swarms through focusing elites
Chaos is- the interesting one I’d say
Helbrutes are peak though
I was getting hit repeatedly spamming dodge as fast as I could to get away from gaunts
Always have fun fighting them regardless of difficulty
Are you sure?
It was in singleplayer
But it’s non existent when you have good internet
Make the heavy bolt rifle actually useful
not something you'd have to do often anyway but yeah this is how I tend to use stuff like graia braced or agri revo. Agri still has good enough cone to nail heads up to a decent distance, the gun is more accurate than the crosshair would lead you to believe.
Fun fact that’s the one I’m maxxing right now
So that could play into why I’m having a miserable time dropping Majoris enemies
Melta fucking deletes up close though
game so dead we're having SM2 talk in here now đź’€
It’s a shotgun basically
Way better on Vanguard imo
Ammo on elite kill perk?
Yeah that also plays into why
Yes and no?
Id say vanguard is extremely helpful for dropping reinforce calls
Blessings for kantrael shotgun?
Really useful for Majoris/Extremis dueling
But it lacks in good minoris clear
Why tactical seems way better
Okay we can agree on this though
Vanguard is just better than Assault in every way
I mean it kinda is
Holy shit Assault in operations is Depressing
Goes even higher with some of the perks
I just recently noticed there is a new one that is not the PDF file that is out of date
anyhow need a WS Revolver build if anyone has one handy
Still not max cause I always get shitter teammates
Watch them get stunlocked cause they don’t understand parrying is a thing
the new version is super comprehensive
I hate that the combat is designed around parrying/gun strikes for melee
Really don't like the gameplay of it, same problem with sekiro for me
Use block defensive weapons
Though that’s a real difficulty tweak
Even though you can just
Dodge
Melee
Get free GS
oh wow
Game is easier when you understand what they were forcing you to play like
Takes the hacknslash out of the game and I don't like it
I haven't touched the ops, why's that?
you may be a space marine but you're an unnamed character at the end of the day
well, not counting the campaign
That’s their upside
yeah but nobody can read it unless they know to ask you lol. most people are still using and screenshotting the pinned pdf
They have way better stats in trade of not being able to perfect parry
So does block prevent you from parrying or
Fun Fact
Oh I see
the link is in the pinned guide rn
That’s how fast it is lmao
You can still block attacks you just can’t punish with a gunstrike anymore
Meanwhile they got me using the slowest pieces of shit in the campaign
You’ll get it from Perfect dodges
I’ve really only dumped like 15 hours into operations
I just know I should probably try to get everything max before I drop the game till content drops
I still don’t really know what’s the absolute best thing to run on Tac
I just know it’s a good class though lmao
I’ll probably level that weapon next
The stock Bolter ain’t it
It’s an upgrade to it
Ripping the scab off and finishing Heavy Bolt Rifle first
You just throw yourself into Rutheless even if you lose to get XP on lvl 1s or something
I'm slowly working through the campaign on second hardest difficulty, I am really struggling to figure out how to deal with hordes of tyranids
I end every fight with a sliver of health after the bots pick me up
The bots just follow me around so yeah
The game told me if you do the heavy bash you get a gun strike that returns armor
But you can't do that with the catachan
As I found out after doing goofy stabs into hordes
And sometimes I'll parry and do the strike and I don't get armor apparently if it's a big dude
You can aim on a gun strike?
Ok, just updated my kriegsguard build
I'm thinking it focuses on close formations and spreading out after ability use
https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9d0a7027-4868-47f8-b48f-4f4aae5923b2/kriegsguard-buildtesting-2?utm_medium=website&utm_source=gameslantern&utm_campaign=share_button if there's anything you believe should be changed, please shoot me some advice.
christ how are you guys playing that much sm2 operations that's wild
the grind is pretty intense for there only being 6 missions
Honestly, I had to take a break from that game, I love it, buuuttttt it gets overwhelming after like 5 missions
So I switched back to darktide in the meantime
I haven't even touched the multiplayer yet I'm on like mission 4 of the campaign
game looks incredible but the gameplay isn't quite there yet
im not paying 90 bucks for an unfinished game
it feels like a lot was sacrificed for those amazing back drops
in terms of performance
I'm waiting until I get back home from basic training to replay sm2
most people seem happy but yeah I think the games no where near worth the money
It's pure hell, ngl
the only mission I actually enjoyed in the singleplayer campaign was the last one
That stupid mission where you're trying to activate the big cannon, the second one
Wron
All the bolters are just bolters and some have scopes
I failed the thing where you defend the antennae like 15 times
You are extremely wrong
idk generally the handling just feels a lot worse
You aren't even accurate in hipfire
also third person shooting feels rough
I admit, SM2 is far easier than DarkTide.
I was standing still hosing an antennae with bolter fire in hipfire and missing over and over because the guns are so inaccurate in hipfire
because the enemy density is like 1/4 of darktide and the enemy variety is like 1/100
most of the time you're fighting chump with stabber
or chump with shooter
or slightly tankier chump with shooter
God I hate the shooter enemies
that just continually shred you while you try and kill a horde
Lol as a sniper main, I don't have an issue until they're in melee range.
and when you stop to shoot them you get eaten by a horde and it just staggers the shooter tyranids
I'm playing the campaign
there's no way there's 200 trash mobs on screen
200 interactable trash mobs I should say
the background density is very high
He's probably talking about the moments where all the little one shot tyranids climb on top of each other to climb a wall
but you cant fight those
well... When you let the horde kind of just scale the walls without shooting, you're going to see something around 200 of them.
yeah I just dont think theres 200 there even then
Why do bolters not kill multiple enemies in that game
I thought they would
I thought it would explode enemies and kill some others
But it just hits one dude
I mean boltguns arent really supposed to have high penetration anyway
and maybe kills tiny tyranids in two shots
they're meant to bury in and explode within
Yeah, that's what I mean
it's an overly penetrative bullet that blows up from the inside
theres little point in having a round that explodes if it goes straight through a target
I expected shooting the bolter to explode everyone around them
Explosion is not big enough to do aoe unless they're extremely close together.
The bolter feels so much cooler in Darktide because it fills the screen with boom that knock over a horde and detonates crushers
In this game its an assault rifle
bolter also sounds better in darktide
Lol agree that it sounds better. Way better. In Darktide.
outside of the heavy bolt pistol in sm2 I feel the audio for the bolt weapons is pretty limp
same with the plasma pistol
sounds like a laspistol
why it sound so dinky
stalker bolt is the closest one to sounding like DT's.
though admittedly the dt plasma also sorta sounds bad
None of them make that loud hiss when the bolter runs out of ammo
the stalker bolt rifles cool, that is one of the weapons I enjoyed
I keep swapping random guns when I find them, the one I like the most has a grenade launcher on it
I hated that ngl but I've heard it gets good when upgraded
Lol I liked that one in campaign too. Doesn't exist in the ops mode.
All the bolter versions feel kinda samey except the stalker
most of my play experience in the game was in the main story on the hardest difficulty where you get no weapon upgrades
every fight is a total slog
so I think it sorta heavily biased me against a lot of the weapons
That's what I'm doing on second hardest difficulty
I didn't know there are weapon upgrades
hype for you to get to the second last mission xd
I'm just mag dumping hordes
worst fucking boss I think I've ever fought in a video game
Fighting hordes in melee doesn't feel great
But I have to remember that there are strike combos like darktide
idk there are moments where a really great game shines through and everything just lines up and it feels great... and then you have the other 90% of the time where melee feels clunky and limp
the execution system is very lame
It's probably because I'm still new but there's moments where I try to parry and it doesn't work and I'm like okay well there's 12 guys hitting me right now I'll just parry again
Except somehow that doesn't parry anything either
I like SM2, but I think I see myself having DT installed longer.
space marine 2 is very cool to look at though
no doubt
100%
it's a gorgeous game
it just feels like a game 10 years out of date
with some really modern paint
The opening missions with the giant hordes and the lasers firing nonstop was fun
It would've gave gears of war a run for its money.
I feel like gears of war felt a lot tighter mechanically
though it has been like.. at least 10 years since I played a gears game
I know you fight chaos at some point but right now I'm dealing with the tyranids and I hate dumping 3 magazines of a bolter into one of the "medium" enemies to kill them
it gets
so much worse
seriously
I'm still annoyed I can't at least crouch. Yeah, a little pointless of a feature, but as a sniper, literally take a damn knee.
drop the difficutly
the game is not challenging
its just tedious
forcing myself to play on the hardest difficulty actively ruined the experience
Like I said the second mission clearing tyranids off the antennae was nearly impossible
The most annoying mission was the one with the rippers and the flamethrower.
I had to do what I did with elden ring and Jedi survivor
I put the game down for the night and came back tomorrow
yeah that one sucked
Really? I thought it was interesting
the first fight against the games antag is the worst mission by far though
Fucking throw Zoanthopes into the mix while I'm holding a gosh darn flamethrower.
a 15 minute slog against consistently spawning bullet sponge enemies
trying not to be too spoiler heavy
Dealing with cockroaches gnawing at my ankles, and you want me to look up?
I've already seen some videos
Oh I remember that part
Stupid
and deal with a ranged enemy
I hate the flying enemies because they take as many bullets as the medium guys
I feel like any fight with the zoanthropes was always made worse by their inclusion
just carry krak grenades never using them in case one shows up
Well... At least in ops, I take them out in 3 shots as a sniper.
yo you're able to play a class consistently?
Yeah. You're not?
yeah its pretty wild given weapons start out at like 2-3 damage and get up to 9-10
I wanted to try the bulwark class, it took 6 attempts
to get into a game
6!
Game suddenly feels normal
Lol bulwark and heavy are kind of the two most used classes right now.
why can you even join lobbies with the class you have selected
there are like 150k players rn
I'm sticking with the ones I don't usually see (sniper, assault, and tac)
it refunds all 14????
I toss my frag at a horde and then it just spawns 3 medium guys behind it and then a horde to the side
I hate that the medium guys have ranged shotgun attacks
I'm trying to kill your friends stop hitting me with shotgun acid
feels like the game has a lot of
pretty severe balance problems
from what I've heard the melee classes are garbage
Heavy Bolt Rifle taking like 23 rounds to 6 on headshot from green to purple
and then the heavy, sniper and tactical or whatever are god tier
Like bro what the fuck
Dodge, snipe. Dodge, snipe. Dodge, snipe.
How I deal with shotgun range
So does darktide to an extent I hate getting revolver/power sword/voc veterans in my game
it is kind of terrible pattern.
It gets genuinely boring
I feel like I see autoguns the most
autoguns + spraying poxwalkers all game
how have you got 400 levels on vet...
Having to dodge mid horde sucks because it's like an endless salvo
I like how 25 assault is different vs Assault by itself
Ok this sounds bad but recently I came into possession of a 380 graia braced autogun and it is fun to shoot into hordes
Because it sucks at anything else
feels like the operations mode becomes better when you actually level a class but
that means playing the same missions at least 3 times each before I'm at a point I'm feeling good
I really dislike the progression system
people keep telling me executioners stance is bad but I like using veteran with it and a lasgun to click some shooter heads
on the hardest difficulty?
am I not going to just be fighting constant bullet sponges for that whole game
whole 3 games even
hmmm hmm that's good advice
sounds
pretty grindy but I guess its gonna be that way either way
I'm likely gonna just wait for more operations missions to drop
helldivers is getting a load of buffs so maybe I can go back to that and it wont feel awful
It sounds so fucking boring but like I assume this is with the mindest of simply leveling your character up
give sm2 some time in the oven
the alternative is running every mission multiple times, honestly that sounds even more boring, worse as its for a longer duration
It’s okay
I’m one to like subtle simplicity
That’s why
But the colors
And how you can really use anything
That’s kino
Grindy
But free
Play with shitters
You’ll see what I mean
I would agree if you're going to unlock everything but I had a colour scheme I wanted pretty much immediately so it wasnt so bad
is there any way to reliably force a solo mission?~
as I've had a few but seems people can join its just inconsistent
mmh I'll give that a go next time I play as
if I'm gonna be running t4 difficulty with shit gear I dont wanna drag others down by taking longer
better I just do it myself
feels a tad toxic otherwise
the vanguard is dope but
the grapple auto aim is cancer
I wish I could turn it off like the regular autoaim which is on by default for some ungodly reason
Yknow I’m surprised
sure but if I'm not playing with a controller why would I want autoaim on
You can’t use the grapple to latch to walls like in PVP
honestly I rarely ever see console players anyway which is
sorta made the whole thing a bit pointless
in dt that is
and when you do see one normally they perform about as well as expected
I run into so many console players on DT and SM2
I find a few console players
I’ve only met like
1 group that I mistook for PC players
Not gonna lie I am not super big on the goofy oversized space marine armor I'll probably give it some paint and use the default stuff
Cause of how well they were performing
I prefer to turn off the cross play on SM2, because if everyone has an m.2 or ssd, the loading screens are so much shorter.
I didnt even realise you could turn it off
and yeah most console players perform so poorly they have a lot of disadvantages working against them
Have you ever played a round of darktide where you load in by yourself and it immediately loads into the game from the deploy countdown
You can only turn it off from title screen.
controller < mouse and keyboard. A lot less common for them to have headphones
playing DT without headphones sounds painful
even just from a damage stand point the melta seems silly
in the base game its fine because the ammo count is low
Sometimes it makes no difference and I'll be mid slide and hear a trapper net out of nowhere
but with a high ammo count how does that not completely invalidate melee
I played a game with a heavy who did nothing but shoot his heavy melta all game
like 143 melee damage 6k ranged damage
I mean
That’s the point of heavy
You rarely melee
You mainly dodge parry or shoot
Las fusil while leveling only having 12-20 rounds pisses me off.
why would you melee when your infinite ammo melta gun does everything it does but way better?
I actually do like in space marine 2 when you are aiming down sights and run out of ammo in your primary you just whip out the pistol in your free hand
cinematic... it feels hunched in and horrible
Alright noted
The only other game that does that is red dead redemption 2
Never doing Gunstrikes
even just a tiny but further out would feel way better
Lmao
I parry by habit coming out of a gun strike because there's always likely something about to hit me the millisecond the iframe ends.
I kinda hate the invincibility anyway, the executions really just take you out of the game to replay 1 of 2 execute animations for that enemy type
But I don't like no shoulder swap
cool at first
less cool later
compared to like... doom, which has an execute system you can manually control and loads of animations per enemy
It is kind of stupid to do your cool cinematic thing then get eaten by a tiny tyranid
They can stun lock you off of GS
TRULY PEAK
I know it happened to me
the tiny tyranids are honestly the main threat the elite enemies do little but block
the tzangors with the shields?
literally the end boss of sm2
Wall of shield Tzaangors
I’m going to say it right now
Terminator Scarabs and Helbrutes
it'd be nice if there were more ways of dealing with them than just forcing a heavy attack
One thing I thought was funny, in Darktide the weapon description of the Mk.1 Catachan it does say that to the catachans, the blade is a knife and to everyone else it's a big sword and you use it to deal with hordes
controversial take but I like the neurothrope
I didn't think about it again
And now in space marine it looks like a baby knife
And hits one guy at a time
It is specifically the mk1 too it has the gold handle
the finisher animations for the combat knife are dope though
love guys like these
Kill Zarona users
OH TURNS THE FUCKING LUNGES INTO AN AOE
picking up a medium bag for literally one fucking bullet
what an asshole
Yeah that shit is fucking insane
thats what i thought
You filthy Helbore peasant
you see it in the wild and they perform awfully
then you try it and dominate
the plasma is such a strange weapon I don't think I've seen someone do well with it in the past 5-10 vets
what's going wrong.
stealth nerf, it shoots blue gatorade now
Plasma is so fucking boring
(dont use near ultramarines theyll get offended)
Holy shit
I think plasma is fun it just has no flavor in the long run
the enjoyment is not feeling restrained at all, you literally kill as fast as you can aim
I wanna make some builds now
I saw a helbore build on reddit using 3 stam curios and deadshot
I've used the plasma like twice I didn't know you could blow yourself up
The charging thing is cool
because it only blows up on the right click charge
I never detonated though
you cant explode yourself anymore with the lmb
Are you talking about the fucking
I think they should reintroduce the ancient curse and make it chip health again
hell yeah
3 stam
that guys dope
That build makes me so violently upset
you hate it but you aint tried it
it feels so good
fuck health
fuck toughness
embrace +3 stamina +10% ordo dockets
Fucking love this gif is immediately shooting shots at Tanner
tanner the only one spitting facts about sm2 tho
didnt watch the video as he annoys me but he's the only one I saw actually being critical of the game
its been a wild ride watching a lot of people go from "this is the best thing since sliced bread" to "this game is pretty deeply flawed currently"
I want to make 2 builds for each class
3 stam curios + deadshot + surgical + deadly accurate
do it
embrace it
I swear you'll love it
gunners do literally nothing in current patch because every build explodes them like regular fodder
like thinking seriously
when was the last time an elite gunner actually harmed you
beyond some toughness damage
Ogryn
gunner resist is only needed if you run head first into them or intentionally get yourself caught out
When I go on my break, I'm gonna go into the other class channels and ask what weapons viable
Cause my team refused to kill the gunners
you gotta have no toughness and no stamina
that's a lot to fuck up on
no dodges even^
also in the open
no cover
Clandestine Gloriana would like to know your location
it would probably be good on my run and gun infiltrate build
I will never not run a build that can't deal with everything, darktide is a solo game disguised as a team game
there are times terrifying barrage just doesnt work for me
With how shit people are
Your take is genuinely valid
That you have to run a jack of all trades build to keep yourself alive
i always just say team game and it happens when we lose
yeah pretty much I think the best way to get good at darktide is to not care about how poorly your team performs
if you lose a game
100% you had the potential to win it
focus on your own mistakes
Actually the one thing I depend on my teammates to do is bring a ridiculously single target load out that only deals with crushers
so I normally do pretty well with catachan blade/kantrael lasgun/frag
Patience and positioning
I've played enough sniper dodge DDR while fighting in melee to know that if you can't deal with something there's a reasonable chance it wont happen
I like my teammates because I'd like to imagine they're having fun also
never leave home without a way to kill crushers
I’ll straight up run a build that’s weak against cara
being an asshole is certainly a way to make this a dead game
And still kill crushers
If you do it’s literally just
Be aware of your surroundings
ive managed to kill crushers by parrying their heads clean off it is so satisfying
for sure, honestly most of my negetive experience has been at the hands of people with 500+ levels too which is wild
And most of the time I can just drop my frags at my feet and run away from crushers lol
yeah, but if they don't kill them you just have to keep distance
which isn't fun and might force you into a bad spot
elitists murdering their own game, no self awareness whatsoever
I’m very much a person who’s fine with chipping at them
I do think some people play so much of the game they burn out on it being ... a game
its just win and loss
I'm not a coward, my weapons just do 130 damage per swing to a guy with 5000 health
They’ll die eventually
Just you have to constantly be aware of what’s around you
i really like experimenting with builds regardless if they're optimal or not
I've been having a lot of fun lately going through the classes and trying out different things
payday2, drg, and this game have tht feel
honestly I kinda hope they buff damage to carapace across the board then just make the crushers have a significant amount more health
as currently anti armor weapons absolutely fold them
and non anti armor weapons are mostly entirely useless
I recently tried the purgatus staff, tigrus chainsword, and mk3 cleaver recently
a lot of the best weapons to deal with regular enemies are also the best weapons to deal with carapace too which is so fucking wild
This is a blessing problem
I do not think the heavy axes should have a blessing that randomly allows it to kill 8 dudes in one swing
On a light attack
yeah realistically they should just have some amount of cleave
man, i can't imagine how agile is going to be in the new patch
brutal momentum is almost always if not always the best blessing if you can get it
Meanwhile the catachan built right can kill 1 in a heavy swing
like the heavy swords are the same.
dodge count refresh on weakspot hit
tac axe and dueling sword gonna be the super dodge dancing weapons
I also don't think knives should be so effective against armor
nah I think the opposite really
good against armor
shit into horde
their horde clear is silly fast
as funny as it is to see the videos of people doing a weak wrist flick thing that 3 taps crushers it's like
Why
I mean thrusting weapons traditionally are better into armor
maybe I phrased it wrong
as they can get between the gaps
they are definitely too good at their job though
the knives don't really have a massive weakness
true
it's not that it's bad that they are good for armor, I don't mind that, it's just that you can build it strangely where it goes from jamming a knife into their skull into a weird push flick that somehow does 2.5k a hit
Nobody uses the heavies except to move
hypermobility, don't need uncanny, high finesse curve, and so many strong blessings
this I hate
ngl I think that's so dumb
it already gives so much move speed
I get left behind a lot as my veteran
When the match starts and we start marching in every time you see your three teammates whip out knives and start speeding off
what about being right ahead
If only I could do that with a kantrael lasgun
Left 4 dead or something
buh
Idk
Que
Was
Did you figure out the secret tech that heavies deal damage
Actually I forgot that the new knife has the horizontal slash as a heavy
Isn't that the one that kills crushers in less than a second
player skill is so much more of a factor here
and most "bad" weapons are not even remotely unusable
I still think common opinion is the bolt pistol is trash despite it being really good.. in vet..
I like to think I'm skilled but yesterday I went down to just groaners like a moron trying to parry with the catachan
I thought about disconnecting
everyone makes mistakes
The bolt pistol is fun
I got so arogant about shooters doing 0 damage
Gets a cleave increase
that I tried to face tank one for the guy doing an objective as I reloaded
Literally has a fucking hidden meta option
lost 80% of my life
made a 0 threat enemy almost kill me
yeah its cool but
not as fun as deadly accurate surgical
this is why I play veteran the way I do
