the skill disparity is huge but generally their weapons are different... like with the human classes you can end up with some really tight breakpoints, but that seems to be less of a thing in ogryn given they're all about weight of fire and real big heavy swings already

#

like I feel the optimization you can do to a plasmagun build, is significantly higher than that of say... a gun lugger

Gotcha, gotcha. Gl on the work stuff!

somber axle

Thanks!

drowsy aspen
#

Have you played a lot of Achlys heavy stubber tho

#

IMO it's an S-tier weapon in the right hands

torpid grotto
#

Thats the fastest one right

drowsy aspen
#

There's no other weapon in the game that makes me feel like I can fight everything on screen

winter grove
drowsy aspen
#

Plasma Gun does ig - for about 4 shots

winter grove
drowsy aspen
#

...Yeaaaa I run a hybrid gunlugger for a reason

#

The shovel walks so the Stubber can run

#

...It's a fast walk though

pastel yew
#

makes me cry when I see ogryns shooting the poxwalkers but like... at the same time... lore... and it's funny... and I totally get it

drowsy aspen
#

Ogryn has pretty respectable melee no matter what you do

drowsy aspen
#

Why would they...?

pastel yew
#

because its fun

winter grove
#

And then we have veteran with dclaws

#

Lmao

pastel yew
#

and lore because they're stupid and love firing their gun

#

even just to hear it go bang

drowsy aspen
#

That's true actually. I love shooting poxwalkers

#

And mixed hordes

pastel yew

the burn passive for the gunlugger ability is fucking

drowsy aspen

Maybe my Maelstrom brain has turned me away from the path of fun...

pastel yew
drowsy aspen

It's still fuckin great

#

ahhhh

somber axle

Achlys is fun but Gorgonum is my fav for just being a good weapon to deal with firing lines without needing a Gunlugger build

drowsy aspen

I've probably never used it pre-nerf then

drowsy aspen
somber axle

love Tauntgryn with shield time for dealing with most problems, then pulling out the Gorgonum when no one is dealing with the room full of shooters and gunners

winter grove
midnight totem
pastel yew
#

I normally sleep in the winter with my window wide open because its the only thing that knocks me out

#

least we're getting to the tail end of summer now

somber axle
#

Dclaw parry is really fun but wow if your gun can't deal with Crushers you're probably going to struggle

thorn lark
#

well having no way to deal with armor... is well bad

pastel yew
thorn lark
#

considering you have nades and 2 weapons

somber axle
#

if you grab kraks as your only solution to carapace, you will be hiding and praying someone else takes care of the crushers when you're out of kraks

winter grove
#

And having to rely on guns and nades to deal with armor is pretty bad

pastel yew
#

you just gotta make your kraks count

#

I had this great game with an ogryn

winter grove
#

Make your kraks count

somber axle
#

crusher pain trains of like 8 crushers at once are only going to get solved by a couple kraks if they clip into each other

thorn lark
pastel yew
#

where I'd stick a krak to the first crusher... then he'd blast it consistently causing it to fall backwards into his friends and kill another one

winter grove
#

Wyd with 2 kraks

pastel yew
#

that locks it in place, the ones following are then closer and also get blown up

#

not massively consistent but there are a lot of situations you can do that

#

if I have points for it I usualy run +1 grenade too

somber axle
#

this is why I love running Recons with lots of rending to melt Crusher faces off

pastel yew
#

I love them so much.. they're too fun

somber axle
#

or Helbore Mk II funny times 2HKOing Crushers

#

having your melee ready to be a can opener is good, but being able to safely take them out before they close to melee is also very nice

#

especially if you can do it very cheaply for ammo spent

#

Helbore Mk II can do it and be ammo positive

#

both shots critting means no ammo spent and you get back ammo from surv aura

pastel yew
#

ohhh yeahhhh that reminds me

#

another reason vet tree needs another look at

#

vet still has one aura

winter grove
#

2

somber axle
#

even funnier if you happen to have a combat stim and pop it during Exe Stance to begin carving through Crusher squads

winter grove
#

Ammo and Speed

pastel yew
#

5% move speed is not that significant

winter grove
#

Yes it is

pastel yew
#

given theres literally a minor node not far above that that gives you 5% already too

winter grove
#

It's hell a lot of points saved

pastel yew
somber axle
#

just get both speed talents and be FAST

pastel yew
#

you spend a point to downgrade your aura

#

for cheaper pathing

#

that isn't good design

winter grove
#

Because making survivalist WS is one way to having bad build

pastel yew
#

dont get me wrong

#

I agree with pathing through other auras

#

what I'm saying is that vet only has 1 aura that actually does anything

winter grove
#

Damage technically helps with some BP's

#

Esp if it's plasma

pastel yew
#

I don't really buy that honestly there are other ways that are more efficient

#

also unironically I think marksman keystone might be

#

like

somber axle
#

Fire Team is just also the most efficient pathing if you're going down Krak + Voice of Command

pastel yew
#

plasma gun's keystone

somber axle
#

otherwise you make a worm

#

worms are bad

pastel yew
#

we love worm

winter grove
#

I really wanna know when MF is better that WS or FT

somber axle
#

the only worm I love is Exe Stance + Smoke tbh

pastel yew
#

honestly I feel you could up the damage to 10% or.. probably better to just change it to do something else

winter grove
#

Like I use a lasgun build

#

And brother

#

MF wouldn't help it

#

At all

pastel yew
# winter grove MF wouldn't help it

no it's only really good with weapons that are high one shot damage and need the extra boost to make some break points (like the plasmagun), or fully automatic weapons

somber axle
pastel yew
#

it might not be terrible on the vrakz 7

somber axle
#

and get WAY more benefit than you'd find from WS

somber axle
#

WS is just kinda eh on the Recons

pastel yew
#

I haven't checked the numbers tho

winter grove
#

Stop trying to recruit me into recon cult

somber axle
#

Focus Target is ok for Recons though

#

Especially if you're going Target Down to feed Deadshot

pastel yew
#

I just don't take a keystone on my recon build tbh, though that isn't really optimised more just grabbing the things I want

#

I would go ft if I wanted to boost it

somber axle
#

but in my experience Marksman's Focus is just too good for the Recon Mk II and Recon Mk VIIa

pastel yew
#

it just feels wrong

somber axle
#

very easy to get and maintain MF stacks and keep the extra 10% rending from CitA

pastel yew
#

like... it's meant to be an accurate marksman tree..

#

and yet the weapons it primarily benefits aren't either of those thingss

somber axle
#

you're already aiming heads for Headhunter and Shock Trooper synergy anyway so like why not double down?

pastel yew
#

you also have to path through a supnode to get marksman

winter grove
#

Lmfao

pastel yew
somber axle
#

if you're not aiming heads or using Headhunter then like you're probably doing a fraction of the possible damage aiming bodyshots

pastel yew
#

the band at which marksman is good for the weapons its designed for is so narrow

#

otherwise focus target is just better

somber axle
#

MF is just too niche to be good for most weapons

winter grove
#

Also there's only 2 specific weapons that need exec stance to be good btw

somber axle
#

Focus Target + Redirect Fire is more consistent and easier to maintain

winter grove
#

And guess who's the fan of one of them

somber axle
#

Marksman's Focus requires more juggling

pastel yew
#

not tested the numbers but I've heard that +finesse scales weirdly

pastel yew
#

marksmans focus is probably fine on the lucius mk3 though I've not tested the numbers with a good stat one

#

my shitty test rifle is like 50s stats

winter grove
#

Is mg12 ilas

pastel yew
#

but it does make break points with it, and stacking/maintaining it isn't bad there

#

both the bolt pistol and the boltgun need exec stance imo

#

like

pastel yew

since the hipfire is so accurate I rarely ads

so you don't need to burn your stam all the time

#

not sure if I'd rather have dead shot or something else in the vet tree tho

thorn lark
gilded rock

Since they said they were trying to gear recon to be more of a "pushing forward" gun, I was debating making a WS build with it

winter grove
#

They're deadshot guns

thorn lark
pastel yew
#

what a goat

winter grove
#

MkX isn't exactly bad

thorn lark
#

deadshot + focus target witht the stam talent is sooo good

winter grove
#

Mk2 is just better

pastel yew
#

just mk2 feels so much nicer

thorn lark
#

well, she

pastel yew

thorn lark

ciag ads recoil is bad

winter grove

Plasma and point and click adventure and Zarona is a scuffed vermintide 2 gun

pastel yew

I think both the zarona and plasma are fun just... for different reasons, the zarona is just pure snappy quick and the plasma turns it into a point and click adventure game

idk why this was blocked but here you go

#

if it's because of the very unfortunate name of a talent sharing the same wording as a slur then that's a problem on Fatshark's side not mine LOL

they really should change the name of that talent

# gilded rock Have you tried 7a with a WS build? I feel like because of its nature as the gene...

Weapon Specialist melee Vet time is just really fun but I don't think the single crit is doing anything tbh. It's more the attack speed that's helping. Always Prepared is basically worthless on Recons. I don't really think any of the talent nodes under Weapon Specialist are good but if you're already doing a melee focused build then WS is ok. It's just not providing nearly as much benefit for the Recon Mk II and Recon Mk VIIa as Marksman's Focus or Focus Target imo

#

BUT

winter grove
somber axle
#

Recon Mk VId is my choice for Weapon Specialist because the fire rate gets extra silly with the bonus fire rate from Weapon Specialist

gilded rock
#

That's definitely something to consider

somber axle
#

it's too wild with the spray and pray to benefit much from Marksman's Focus, and it's too fast to use Target Down + Deadshot memes anymore

#

but it is very funny doing a weapon specialist build with Onslaught and Rending Strikes to melt Crushers hyper fast LMFAO

potent iris
winter grove
#

Wait till they buff Ius

somber axle
#

especially with Celerity stim

gilded rock
#

What is the downside of the 6 compared to 7a other than it not cleaving?

winter grove
#

Ammo Economy

gilded rock
#

And more ammo consumption but that's like a non factor I assume

winter grove
#

If you were to compare two guns with (I assume) almost the same ammo pools

#

Ilas mk4 and Recon mk6

mortal horizon
#

ok\

#

im completely addicted to the double barrel + combat axe weapon master hot swap build

winter grove
#

Recon burns out that 1k ammo really quickly without crits

somber axle
mortal horizon
#

swing swing, swap shoot, swing swing, swap shoot, and just cursh anything within 10 meters of you is pretty dope lol

winter grove
#

Ilas mk4 wouldn't really need any ammo pickups for 70% of the game duration

mortal horizon
#

i just was in a maelstrom with 3 other psykers, so i got to be as wreckless as i wanted with ammo it was glorious

thorn lark
somber axle
#

It's very fun but I use it on a melee focused Vet loadout now because leaning on it for your main method of doing damage is going to leave you on orange/red ammo consistently

gilded rock
mortal horizon
thorn lark
#

chainsword

gilded rock
#

Chain sword

mortal horizon
#

ah ya that would work

#

i used to love ps6 alot, still do, but doesn't work as well

#

having to charge it messes with the flows

#

the axe or chsword and weapons like it def feel best

somber axle
#

so I mainly use my Recon Mk VId with Weapon Specialist for quickly swapping and melting Crushers to thin the carapace pain trains before engaging in melee, or for suppressing enemy gun lines (and maybe killing one or two while I advance) before swapping melee to begin cutting down gunners in their faces

mortal horizon
#

where you can get 3-5 kills to stack weapon master in just 2-3 swings, and swap back

somber axle
#

I have a Recon Mk VId with Stripped Down that I use with Duck and Dive to just advance on enemy gun lines freely and begin slamming them in melee

#

or for just sprinting out of the lines of fire to safety

mortal horizon
#

i dropped Both Barrels on it, bc its just redundant. Ill melee double swap to reload it if i really need i almost never have to manually reload with the WM Always Prepared augment

gilded rock
#

I would guess that the crit bonus from WS is even better on 6 as well because of crit string

mortal horizon
#

so i rock manstopper + a damage blessing

gilded rock
#

I don't know the numbers on that though

thorn lark
winter grove
#

@somber axle we should do a duo run with recon mk6 and ilas mk4

#

Let's see who runs out of ammo first

somber axle
#

The Kantrael Mk IV Infantry Lasgun is just the second best gun at being as close to infinite ammo as possible

#

First place belongs to the Helbores

winter grove
#

Even still

#

Recon gonna run out first I bet

somber axle
#

I think my Recon Mk II with Deadshot + Target Down could maybe compete on ammo economy somewhat

#

but it's hard to outdo the sheer ammo capacity of the Kantrael Mk IV Infantry Lasgun

ya both work nicely. Im using Full Bore right now, which i mainly am using to help with boss damage (its noticeably nice on the weakened bosses from the maelstrom modifier) and reapers. But i think deathspitter or scattershot would be just as good if not better.
Not my best gameplay or clip, a little sloppy, but just my last auric game some holy shotgun carnage for the emperor

#

build is super fun gotta say even if its not the best thing there is if i was putting money on a match lol but i usually end up settling on fun builds over good builds in tide games

uncut pebble
#

Finally, marksman's focus penance is done.

#

That whole keystone needs a fat rework.

#

Literally punishes you for moving.

placid portal
#

they buffed the grace period after weakpoint kills though not sure if that's good

uncut pebble
#

They need to make it a bit more like weapon specialist, and then define weapon specialist more as a crit-machine keystone.

uncut pebble
#

Not the grace period, I mean. They keystone itself is much better with automatic weapons.

#

I was making anywhere from 20-30 kills in an entire damnation match using my mk12 lasgun, but the moment I picked up a recon I was getting 200+.

#

If my 2 cents means anything, I think it should be made to turn all stacks of marksman's focus into melee damage the moment you take out your melee, but it consumes all currently available stacks.

#

Like, let's say you have all 10, as per the base node.

#

For each stack, gain 4% melee damage and 1% movement speed upon equipping a melee weapon.

#

Could go a step further and make it finesse damage.

#

I don't much care, I just hate the way it currently is. It makes the penance such a fucking slog to get through.

drowsy aspen
#

That's too similar to Weapon Specialist I think

#

Opposite way Weapon Specialist works, which is kinda nice

pastel yew
#

I see it like disrupt destiny on psyker

#

in that although the time before stacks start to decay isn't massive

#

you can decay a few stacks and get them back rapidly

#

its just a shame the bonus for having those stacked mainly benefits auto weapons again

#

especially with the armor negation

white minnow
#

it also doesn't help that we just deal a lot of damage and don't really need to do any breakpoint maxxing even w/o MF

junior needle
white minnow

i also don't think that we need to make marksman focus more like weapon specialist because, well, weapon specialist already exists

there's only 3 keystones and we don't need to intentionally add overlap between them

Taking melee damage blocking doesnt count as taking damage
Use the stealth ability with the modifier called overwatch and use it as a ticket out of getting cornered. Avoid door spawns stay abit behind your squad and dodge back away from melee units. Get like a weapon that kills fast or hits hard so the enenmy cannot get a hit in you if alone particularly look out for hounds and mutants to dodge them. And finially play a map you know is wide (hourglass ie) and not narrow with good visibility
Try to get a low intensity as well if you can anf you should be set.
And finally finally be patient. You very well might not get in a good 20 tries and thats okay ! Its doable though

#

Personally ny weapon of choice for it isChainsword since reving is good against mutants and ragers

#

Use the stealth ability when you know youre about to get hit (cornered and cant avoid or dodge in any dirrection)

#

Specifically

#

If you do the mission on a higher difficulty and with low intensity you might do it aswell as you might be getting high lvl teamates

pastel yew

I've just seen enough people with stability issues that get fixed when they update their modlist or unpatch

stuff like stuttering and fps lag is also commonly reported

I haven't played the game in ages, but last time I played I loved to use the Bolter + Chainsword. I have heard that the Bolter i pretty shit right now (somehow even more than before), so I was thinking, what should I use? I'm not sure, but I think I had a Kantrael Lasgun that was pretty close to a god roll. I would like a gun that is more slow fire rate, high dmg. Any suggestions? I also accept suggestions for melee weapons for a more balanced experience (and yes I know that the 'Krieg loadout' is pretty close to what I might like)

thorn lark
#

bolter very bad right

#

it's not an insta win weapon like the plasma gun

pastel yew
#

they don't really have anti armor ranged variety

#

in the same way psyker and vet have anti armor melee variety

#

heavy sword sorta highlights this problem as special attack spamming crushers aint it

#

especially when every weapon that was boosted by that rending was still worse than the zarona, except the laspistol mk2

thorn lark
#

if you want to use the bolter you have to invest a bit in it and either go the marksman focus route or focus target

pastel yew
#

the boltgun also just compares unfavourably with a lot of weapons

#

I like it, use it on occasion (prefer the pistol for style points though)

#

but it's definitely bottom mid tier

#

needs heavy support from your skill tree to not feel awful where other weapons are smooth outta the box

thorn lark
#

but i play 4 classes and i always took something to take care of armor ie crushers in every loadout/build

#

because i qp a lot and i just can't take for granted that someone will be the crusher deleter

pastel yew
#

yeah I mean, every build should be able to deal with all threats

#

it's just the zealots 2 main ranged options for dealing with carapace are both far more fun to use as a vet than a zealot

thorn lark
#

so i clearly was really impacted by the nerf

pastel yew
#

and it's not like melee vet is really all that much worse than melee zealot

thorn lark
#

i prefer revolver on vet and bolter on zelaot tbh

pastel yew
#

I'd say that weapon specialist zarona / rashad is like.. better than any zealot build

#

maybe if/when melta guns get added it won't be so rough but

#

it's only zealot that gets shafted with so little variety I guess

#

Kleo doesn't really matter to me though as I'm not a zealot one trick

junior needle
#

Why would you need to stop moving for surgical?

#

It stacks regardless of if you move

thick kestrel
#

it's worth noting that taking the node that gives you 15 stacks is actually a reasonable way to "maintain" them.

those extra 5 stacks act as a solid buffer to keep the overall stack count high and provide overflow value when you're sitting at 8/9/10 stacks.

you need exec stance to do the one drum combo

#

annnd this talent... one moment

#

you wanna stack damage ups then when a boss comes activate your exec stance, then fan all the shots into the bosses weakspot

latent nimbus
#

That's my current setup; krak, executioner, marksman

pastel yew
#

I love executioners stance, my favourite ability

#

even if it is the weakest in most cases it's so fun

idle pecan
#

is MF as good as focus target

pastel yew
#

sorta depends

#

with automatic weapons it's as good

#

with the plasmagun it's maybe a tiny bit better now that it's breakpoints are a bit weird

#

outside of that no not really

idle pecan
#

do you reccomend i run it with my columnus?

pastel yew
#

if you can hit head reliably eyah

#

the reason it's so good with automatic weapons is because they can hit heads more frequently which stops decay of stacks

#

and you can stack mad armor pen

pastel yew
idle pecan
#

loadout and talents

pastel yew
#

thoughits hard and expensive to get all 3

idle pecan
#

onslaught is insane

pastel yew
#

if its even possible

#

onslaught is real good yea

idle pecan
#

does it stack with mf?

pastel yew
#

so you'd ramp up your onslaught stacks faster

#

since you have less effective armor to overcome

#

sorta difficult to get to though

#

if you wanted to try it out you could drop focus target and dead shot to grab the keystone and the upgrade

idle pecan
#

i have to choose to lose precision strikes or deadshot

#

in order to get all 3

pastel yew
#

definitely would drop deadshot

#

though deadshot with focus target is a fun combo

idle pecan
#

thats what i was runnin

pastel yew
#

either way you're only moving points around so its easy to try for a game or two and see how it feels

#

if you don't like it can switch back

#

so hitting any weakspot lets you move for 3 seconds without losing stacks, whereas getting a weakspot kill lets you move for 6

#

so automatic weapons typically use this a lot better as the ease of hitting weakspots constantly

#

probably works better with a recon than a ciag tho

junior needle
pastel yew
#

though it is very expensove

#

all the nodes leading to it are good though

junior needle
#

Ehhhh

pastel yew
#

stamina on dodge, stamina recovery, the 5% melee isn't really great but... eehhhh

junior needle
#

Depends on the weapon

pastel yew
#

its not enough for my rashad to make a dog one shot unfortunately that needs 10% its so close

idle pecan
#

what does rending do

junior needle
#

Stamina on dodge and stam recovery is not really important unless you're going deadshot

#

Rending adjusts your adm's

#

Which is a percentage of your base damage that your weapon does against specific armor types

#

This is easily viewable on weapons with stopping power

#

If you have a 90% modifier, 10% rending will take you to a 100% modifier

#

However, the value is diminished significantly above 100%

idle pecan
#

now i have this going on

junior needle
#

Where it's converted to damage at a 1/4 rate

pastel yew
#

rending and brittleness are both just.. more damage against armor at a basic level tho, brittleness applies to everyone I believe whereas rending is entirely just your attacks. brittle is a debuff, rending is a property of your attacks I guess

junior needle
#

That's correct, although armor just means the type in this context, and not just foes with visible armor

#

Rending and brittle only apply against flak, unyielding, maniac, and carapace

junior needle
#

Yee

pastel yew
#

I guess it'd have to because of the maniacs in armor but

#

that's silly

#

honestly the enemy typing in this game is so dumb

junior needle
#

As I said, the armor type has nothing to do with actually having armor

pastel yew
#

I'd rather have hit locations of consistent armor value

#

flak always equals flak

#

then just have unarmored for plebs and infested or mutated or..

junior needle
#

Some enemies do have points with different types

pastel yew
#

something for the fleshies you wanna be tough

pastel yew
junior needle
#

Reapers have unyielding generally, flak on the chest, and carapace on the shoulder and wrists

pastel yew
#

its just the idea of the flamer clearly wearing full flak

#

and yet being a maniac

#

is silly, it should just be flak type

junior needle
#

Specialists are typically classed as maniac for some reason

pastel yew
#

balance and variety I guess

#

I just wish that the visuals matched up with the mechanics

junior needle
#

They usually do, the scab flamer is unusual

pastel yew
#

mhm the rager counts for flak

#

despite... clearly being a maniac, more so than the flamer

junior needle
#

Scab rager isn't as mad because he gets cool armor

pastel yew
#

so trueeee

#

the armor that makes them just.. straight up weaker

#

flak armor is effectively a debuff for most of the good weapons

junior needle
#

Not quite, flak usually doesn't have a high adm

#

Compared to other types at least

#

It is the most common type in the game though, so most people take it on weapons

pastel yew
#

all the weapons I enjoy are just real good into flak

junior needle
#

Flak is still worth taking unless it's redundant on breakpoint weapons

#

As better damage by default means more value with a boost

pastel yew
#

its a debuff because most good weapons are already naturally good into flak

#

so funnily if the rager left his cool armor at home he'd do more damage and be less vulnerable

better draw time/reload than bolter

much more suited as a secondary weapon

Bold of you to think I can aim well enough to place headshots! ;) But yeah. Saw a blessing briefly for more AoE damage from the bolts, looked fun!
Ooooh, draw time on the bolter is soooo long, so that's a huge plus to have a quicker draw time.

severe gale
#

that one is decent

#

so they changed how bolters worked when it was released

#

so the shell won’t detonate until it reaches a certain distance from you

#

so lethal lets it detonate at any range, and increases the size of the detonation

#

the explosion won’t really deal much damage, but it’s great for stagger, and can stop chaff in its tracks

Ah, gotcha. Also.. it sounds really cool! :)
