If you run two health curios you can have over 200 HP which allows you to take two sniper shots from full toughness/health and not go down, or take two poxburster pops from full toughness/health and not go down. Iirc there's also a good breakpoint for using toughness curios and sniper resist perks to tank an entire shot without taking any HP damage if you'd rather go two toughness curios instead. I am a Deadshot fiend so I use triple Stam curios. But if you're not a clown like me you can run one of these combos:

Recon Mk II is the most basic but also the most ammo efficient of the Recons and has the highest single target DPS and best ammo economy
Recon Mk VIIa trades a slight amount of single target DPS and some ammo economy for cleave on shots, more damage per shot and a slower fire rate than the Recon Mk II
Recon Mk VId is the light machine gun variant with double the magazine size and the fastest rate of fire of the weapons. It has a slower reload and slower weapon swap speed

They are all good now but it is important to note that the Recon Mk VId is the most ammo thirsty variant now and it also surprisingly has the lowest DPS of the three variants. It excels at suppression and when used with Onslaught has the best DPS vs Crushers
They all do very similar damage and no Recon does significantly more DPS than any of the others to make it the best Recon
The all have pros and cons so you should pick which one you enjoy playing with the most

THAT SAID: a lot of people favour the Recon Mk VIIa because the cleave is extra useful for firing down hordes and mixed hordes. It can be very handy for shooting through a crowd of poxwalkers to hit the Rager in the middle of the horde, or to clean a line through a group of groaners body blocking a Sniper

Exactly what Backup said! Damage and Ammo stat as close to 80% as you can get, Mobility 51%+, Stability and Collateral can be ignored. Collateral has some niche value when it is higher because it lets you get two staggers off on a Flak Rager while shooting it to death, letting you safely stunlock it. But that's optional tbh because the DPS is solid and you'll probably kill them too fast for that to matter most times

That looks good other than groaners. Headhunter is the most important blessing. Infernus is a solid side grade to Dum Dum and performs comparable DPS (less damage than Dum Dum at 0m to 15m, similar DPS 15m to 25m, better DPS 25m+). Flak is the most important perk imo. That should perform well!

this is important since taking a melee hit at 100% toughness means it won't bleed through, so your penance is preserved

Grab Infiltrate, Low Profile and Overwatch talent nodes. Infiltrate stealth lasts 10 seconds. Low Profile also lasts 10 seconds and gives you -90% threat reduction when stealth breaks meaning if you are near a team mate you can literally shoot your gun and watch enemies walk past you to beat up the poor Psyker you're standing next to instead. Overwatch talent node gives you +1 charge at the cost of +33% CD. Infiltrate normally has 45 sec on CD. With Overwatch it has 2 charges and recharges every 1 min. Put Combat Ability Regen perks on all your curios to lower this CD. Use this with Tactical Awareness talent for -6 sec on ability CD per special kill. Get an ability CD reduction stim ASAP. Chain your Infiltrate and Low Profile during spicy fights to keep aggro off you and stay near the team. If things get extra hot pop CD stim and prepare to use Infiltrate more to keep hidden from the fight. You CAN still fight because during Low Profile you have the threat reduction. If an enemy hits you once? Pop Infiltrate immediately. Restores toughness to full and On Overwatch Penance only counts HP DAMAGE as failing it
