Missed this one. That would again be how the parameters are set. In dota 2 your ranked matchmaking has a MMR rating. You will most of your matches only face against people pretty close in rank. You won't be a herald (lower ranks), go on a win streak and face a divine (top ranks). You will face divine only until you actually climb the ranks through many games over a period of time. As opposed to say CoD where you don't have any ranks or a ranked matchmaking mode so there's less data. From CoD youtubers I've seen CoD seems to have a VERY short term MMR rating, where you can fluctuate wildly between skill brackets based on recent performance.
