Most of the times, your loadout should have an option to kill armor. Relying on krak nades alone for armor units is generally a bad idea.
Most people who optimized their builds/run meta options have plenty of ways to handle armor, so the need for krak is greatly reduced.

this is just all over the top "optimization". Shredders just offer more utility than kraks. You can stil run kraks for armor and that is perfectly fine. Regarding crushers some weapons have special attacks that stagger them or you can use the headtaker blessing that staggers crushers at 4 stacks when you do heavy attacks on them

my only probllem gameplay wise with both WoW and GW2 has been that I feel so lost. Any sense of progression feels so abstract its hard to get a grip of the game personally. Been trying to finish off the heart of thorns expansion and unlock stuff there and it has been pain based on wha tI remember from last time playing it

A good melee does the trick. As a more specific answer, I'd say the shout is a good melee option as it doesn't require any specific weapons to make it good and the toughness buff + a push back with the upgrade helps with melee attacks. Chainswords, the new shovel, and power swords do great hoard clearing and even good anti-specialists with some practice with their alt attacks, and either the revolver or the plasma gun are great guns for all-round fuckery that don't require much investment to be good.
If you want a nice, sexy build, I'd personally go for a Chainsword and an OG Revolver and go for the shouty attack plus focus fire. Thus you'll be very dedicated to support but one who works well on the front lines, with a revolver to take down elites and such and a chainsword to keep hoards back.
