but it's always worth remembering that perfect is the enemy of good. there's definitely an overfixation (an understandable one) of people wanting to run the BEST possible weapon options at all times. but it's worth stopping to smell the roses and running something "not perfect" can actually be an excellent way to improve your gameplay by putting a little bit more pressure on yourself to make up the difference.

In other games the Melta has been a beam weapon, a huge energy shotgun style, or even a psuedo grenade launcher that obliterates one target causing an additional cone of destruction behind said target.

The one thing kinda off about the weapon representation in Darktide is the Powered Weapons like the Chain Sword, Power Sword, Thunderhammer, Eviscerator, Power Maul, and the Force Swords all need to be "turned on".
They should simply be active at all times.
It's sorta explained in game that our weaponry is scavenged from battlefields across Tertium so you could simply say these weapons are literally broken. But it's kind of funny because the Power Cycler blessing is simply your Power Sword being a little less broken than all the others.

I play on Xbox and mosly play a sorta "hybrid" Veteran. In the frontline with my melee and my trusty Agripinaa Revolver at a moments notice. But I have used Marksman's Focus a few times. People really like to exaggerate the "console debuff" or more accurately "controller debuff". I played the secret hard mode with a group made on here (xbox has discord integration) and they didn't even notice or question I was an xbox player. I admit M&K is generally better for shooters but a controller works just fine.

I picked this game up with Patch 13 and the launch on Xbox so I don't have experience with pre Patch 13 Veteran. But my first class was actually the Psyker because I was the most intrested in them from the get go. I think it was a video or maybe even this channel that temped me to make a Veteran and now I haven't touched my Psyker in weeks. I have started to dabble in Zealot but I'm a Veteran main 100%.

Power Sword 6 Push Attack into Light 4 combo might be the best burst dps that Veteran has for melee. I don't know how it holds up with sustained dps considering the activation downtime but if you can weave that combo between some monster attacks it shreds them pretty nicely.

In a horde, shoot one target, saw through, backwards dash+swap, kill one, swap, back in with the 8 sec buff

Vet has better Melee damage than Zealot but Zealot can reach higher potential damage. Veteran just has more/better passive nodes and Talents than Zealot. 10% and 5% melee damage, 30% weakpoint damage, 10% melee crit chance and 25% melee finesse bonus just to name a few. All these passive bonuses make a weapon like the combat axe better on Vet than Zealot, because the Vet can hit those Brutal Momentum breakpoints easier with no setup. Vet also uses the combat knife better than Zealot because of the free bleed talent letting you use both Mercy Killer and Uncanny Strike, something the Zealot can't do. Melee Vet is better than some people think.
