If you kill ten of them, they get 15% toughness back, thats a lot of killing for not much benifit to your team when other classes either have so much TDR they never need the topup, or they generate it so fast themselves, that its a meaninglessly small amount

at 18m I can one tap headshot a dreg gunner with Longshot active
I think actually instead of flak for the other one I'd go with unarmored to make sure you can still clear hordes well

the only thing with flak that has a bunch of health is the flak rager. I tried it with flak on for a bit but you're right in that the innate total rending is so high that the extra damage is negligible.

I will say even though the numbers are nice on veteran with the +20% ogryn/boss damage from Bring it Down! and +25% Unyielding, plus whatever other damage buffs veteran can give the bolter, I prefer the bolter on zealot because the sainted gunslinger talent makes the reload so much faster

Because I have all 3 toughness nodes from the talent tree (+15, +25, +25)

you know if you ever needed an argument against having wound curios, the new healing stim only heals 25% or one wound, whichever is greater, so if you only have two wounds, it will always heal for 50%
And with just +21% toughness (16+5) from curios I’m sitting at 200 toughness
Oh uh, I did, Max Health, Max Toughness, and Stamina
I think that gives a good enough balance

I would swap out my stamina if I'm not running weapon spec though

catachan 4 has a great overhead as its first heavy attack but a lot of vet players choose the dc2 because it has two horizontal heavies and they can turn off their brains during horde clear

and then BM is much better because of the faster "combo kill" on single crushers

BM is more economical in general use because bruisers no longer eat up your cleave.
like people are all about how you can go powersword light and chop a bunch of heads, but like they die any way to the heavy and if there's mixed elites in there the slaughterer buff will go further against maulers, crushers, bulwarks, muties
And also provides extra weak spot damage for general use.
The value of BM is in the fact hit mass no longer eats your cleave. You can apply more of your energized damage more effectively.

plasma just slow in my opinion, plus im not that kind of delete everything guy when i play vet
i prefer to be in the thick of things, bathing in blood

so volatile, not really synergizing well

Smokes are good for specific situations. Usually it’s slow comps and bad spawns in low cover areas

About to play some aur damn, but I'm guessing the game is gonna be pretty snooze easy now that fire isn't a threat any more. Gotta stop running the meta revolver builds, I guess.

It's a skill ceiling weapon for sure but the ones who know it, they make good work of it and never run out of ammo
its not that much of a skill ceiling weapon than it is an expensive or rng weapon since u want one as close to perfection as possible

i prefer kraks but once in a while i whip out the smokes
u still have room to move, and have pillars to use as cover
ragers maulers and crushers ignore the smoke screen, hounds flamers trappers and poxbursters actually wont attack you if theyre INSIDE the smoke screen with you
any ranged ignores the smoke as soon as they enter the bubble
gunner's spawn at the front left corner, which is on the completely opposite side of u, giving u plenty of room for cover
and snipers straight up dont give a fuck
anyone that would suggest smokes for the 1st area of carnival, doesnt understand the map completely

so it has a VERY niche situation where it would work which is if you were swarmed by hounds or there was a flamer that for some reason you cant kill
which does happen from time to time
its actually not that bad
but then you have frags which do the same job but better and they are versatile
i wouldnt bring it but its something you can tame
but the reward for practicing it isnt worth it
imo, it'll never beat good positioning and having good mechanics
its too little value
it just wont beat any of the other 2 grenades
for too big of a potential drawback

On top of the dot damage that smoke gas nade would provide it would still to what it currently does
