have a weird question. I come from pvp games where meta is basically required. this is pve but has some difficulty. i was wondering if meta is required at higher stages and difficulties of the game?
Using "meta" loadout will make your life easier in high difficulty
You can run weird build depending how well your in game knowledge (dodging, kiting, map mastery, priority kill)
If you play high rank havoc mode you gonna need "proper" Build because the game will throw you every BS situation 
so basically, if the build has an intended purpose and you arent bad, you're good to go

I did my first successful auric maelstrom expecting my Havoc assignment level to jump to 16ish but it's still at level 1. Any ideas what's happened?

Rescource wise ? Or is it dependant on how many levels in havoc you climb

hello i do not find party for Havoc for literally a week, since my lvl of havoc is 3 coz i left the game temporally when it came out

Just join off other peoples assignments beating someone who's in higher havocs assignment will allow you to rapidly gain ranks. also I'm pretty sure doing an auric maelstrom will put your rank at 16, no one really does havocs below that point @smoky marsh

Yeah the standard mission terminal go to the auric difficulty and do maelstroms
i didnt know that raised havoc lvls
I'm unsure if it's retroactive if you've allready done havocs but I got put to assignment rank 16 initially at 30 cause I had allready done auric maelstrom

Around 20-40 is where most people use the party finder

I found it easier that way as the difficulty is cumulative, 20 is kinda where it really ramps up, I think I went up to 14ish before jumping into other parties to get a 2-4 level boost up, nothing too drastic of a leap.
How effective are these when selected? As an Axe Arbitrator player, any additional melee damage is important for me, but I'm unsure if this node would be that effective for me or not.

Will depend on your weapon and build
10% on two swings is better than 15% on only the second and equal on third
There's 10000 things that affect whether you're getting mileage out of it including the combination of every other damage modifier in your build just take it to sefoni lol
I stg people don't want to spend 1 second in the lab checking numbers
There's also the damage calculator which honestly is more effort in most cases

each category cannot be 80%, the best is 80/80/80/80/60 or a mix of that
every weapon maxes out at the same amount of combined percentage
(discounting rounding errors by the UI)
ohhhh okay that makes sense i looked at this one build wrong and assumed they were all at 80, but yeah one is 60 so ill just look for the weapon that is 60 based on the build im looking at

Guys i am curious, which classes (besides the arbiter with his op sniper shotgun) can run a shotgun and actually perform decently in auric+ ?

All the shotguns (except Zarona imo) feel pretty good in Aurics. The slug shotgun from Agripinaa is awesome for sniping with vet, and helps open up bulwarks on zealot. Accatran just has pretty damn good close-up damage so great if you prefer a more melee playstyle on any of the classes.
All of them tbh. I run the slug shotgun on zealot quite a lot, double barrel and slug on vet. Can work on psyker too since your guns are mostly for specials and bosses on psyker
I remember really liking the double barrel as a psyker on auric+ when it came out

Well your bet is wrong. He was a hindrance of course, but I don't mind because I find that fun. The whole point was that 1k+ damage is actually pretty common, in fact I see that in maybe half of my aurics

I played through some normal rounds and it didn't crash. Happened every game of the event so far. Even if it isn't only in the event its' happening more frequently in the event for me

So what's the point at which the combat knife becomes good? I have one at orange rarity with good blessings and such, but it seems like a way less upgraded assault chainsword just does way better with way less effort. What am I doing wrong? Does it just need a bunch of variables to align in its favor or something?
I guess it pulls decent numbers when I do a backstab power attack with the buffs up, but even then, I'm not coming anywhere near two shotting a plague ogryn like I see high level players doing?
you should ask in the relevant class chat, because it highly depends on who is using the knife

Knife is single target oriented
Chainsword is a horde clearing oriented weapon

Combat axe, Tactical Axe, or Heavy Sword (best of the three for this) make this one a lot easier

They can only get one target a backstab, weapons I listed can get 4
but they guarantee kills easier plus they scale with the backstabs really well compared to caxe and taxe and hs
for backstab it doesnt matter if its a heavy or light attack right? does it matter if the target kets killed via weakspot or not?
its just the location you are in regards to the enemy

To my knowledge, the only way to play it is through campaign missions
So you can either hope quickplay gives you the mission or restart the campaign
Thanks to the campaign selector mod I can queue it whenever I want however the bell puzzle itself doesn't seem to work
Perhaps I'm messing something up but it seems to fail on the second last bell each time somehow
I think there might be something to complete before you can do the bell puzzle but I'm not familiar with it

why does "always dodge" prevent me from jumping (separate keybind) unless i'm sprinting....i just want to jump when i press jump, and dodge when i press dodge. Is this not possible lol

That's the always dodge option in settings?
Something must be up with your keybinds, you can separate those two buttons
they're separate, but as mentioned, if you have always dodge on, you can't jump while "walking"

3 bursters with base vet hp should put enough corruption to instakill, makes sense
yah that happens, like catachan said, alongside the fact that bursters will detonate other bursters, so you can get instakilled pretty easily

Heard difficulty got some adjustment. Back then Heresy > Damnation difficulty had a relative jump.

Sorry for the hailstorm of questions, I've been wanting to go further than Heresy for a long time now, but it've always been extremely intimidating for me.
1: Try out the difficulty, no harm done if its too much 2: Public skill level has declined a bit recently (since crafting update about a year ago) up to you if you pub or not, I find it funny. 3: Auric now is coded as intensity 6 which is the highest base game difficulty yet

Is Blaze Away bugged? I was doing some testing in the Grinder and noticed it wasn't proccing on the buff bar. Usually a weapon blessing that's proccing pops up its icon in the bar yeah? Or are some blessings activated but not placed on the bar?

So, help me here a bit. What does affect when you can or can't be interrupted during various actions that take time to complete? I know that when you revive/rescue and assist somebody, you are considered blocking - so regular hits from chaff won't interrupt it until I have stamina left, right?
What about solving various puzzles? It seems like any hit interrupts those, even if I have stamina. What if I'm shot at? Will it interrupt puzzles too?
And also I heard something about ogryn being special in that they "cannot be interrupted" - what does it mean? Does it cover all those interactions above, or only some of them?
Basically, non Ogryn characters are interrupted during mini games if they get hit in melee; if getting shot at, they need to have their toughness bar reduced to 0 in order to be stunned out of the mini game.
Ogryns ignore this completely, even if their toughness breaks.
What if ogryn tries to revive somebody while being hit, and their stamina runs dry?

I think when youre getting shot at, it'll go to your toughness instead of stamina

I usually go with the Puncture and Deadly Accurate
I tried surgical + deadly accurate, but somehow it doesn't work that well, despite weapon seems to be similar to revolver where Surgical is my go-to bless
deadly accurate does nothing if you do not crit
I get it, it's just a filler as I didn't find anything else that would work better than it. I tried a few promising combinations, and this combo allowed the best dps with least possible effort. That's kinda what I need from it on my psyker, to kill an occasional armored elite by a rapid burst of shots, or some specialist
i.e. it's not a main weapon, just a sidearm
Quick question: for HAVOC gameplay, is it better to have health curios at higher levels? Given that it’s a flat reduction rather than a multiplicative reduction of toughness?

2 toughness 1 health is still good
People usually stack golden toughness
And all havoc enemies deal more damage + corruption hit

I regualry have lags ingame from time to time. its like a single lag with the duration of half a second every 2 or3 minutes and after like 4 or 5 lags my game disconnects from the server.

If mutant don't have space to smash you (in a corner/ near wall) he will throw to other direction
be careful sometimes mutant got bugged/ pissed and throw you into the void /inside wall
Is this a semi recent problem? Have you tried updating your graphics card, reinstalling the game, temporarily disabling your anti virus to try and determine the problem?
i do have this issue while running the most recent drivers. theres no anticheat i could disable (best antivirus is still common sense) and i do have that issue on both my windows and my linux installation.

Ever questioned your connection to the servers? Check by going to mission terminal and pressing the button for terminal settings. You might be being put on the wrong server.

About Havoc
In the group finder there are only groups 20+, so.. how difficult are they, how does the difficulty scales, compared to Auric
When should I be able to join Havocs 20+ (Current assignment is 17 and dont want to join some others havoc and be hinder rather than help)
after 20 it becomes harder than auric mael
if you've done 17 already, you can apply for 20 for sure

The want to play h40 is strong, the fact that I can't leave without fucking people over is annoying.

Is there a mod(s) that:
- Displays clear enough (customizable) visual cue when certain thresholds of toughness are reached (50%, 0% etc). Like some big enough red blink around the center of the screen or something
- Show clear enough visual cue when you are hit (or shot) from behind. Like may be a BIG down arrow under your crosshair or something
Spidey Sense and CustomCrosshair
not when you get hit but rather when you're 0.2sec away from being hit...but if you're going specifically for visual queues, there's a mod called Less Annoying Visuals or something like that. It allows you to tinker with visuals like flash, flame, blur etc.
why would you want to leave? 
Up to 20 is Auric Damnation Maelstrom, up to 25 it's ADM+ and 30 is the first step to insanity, that's Take ADM+ (with 7 modifiers including extra bosses but now you also have 2 captains that may or may not spawn along with 4-5 other bosses and sprinkle on that extra armored (Carapace) enemies delivered in bulk)
35 to 40 is the same only worse xD
so far I've dragged my guts only across the 36 mark. Hoping to hit 40
also the AI director has access to 2 conditions called Tension and Terror. They work in stealth on ALL other mods and maps except after Havoc 30. The second you hit 30, those "limiters" on how fcked is fcked are disabled and the AI director can not and will not give a flying pox burster if 2 mates are down, he will spawn the population of new zealond on your ass
the AI director, how is that to understand in this game, is it like the usuall line of code that balances out how many enemies spawn/what enemies spawn (like in vermintide where they love to spawn in dozens of packmasters when alone); and for Havoc 30+ that safty code is overwritten and the game just keeps on flooding the player, like its a hive city wanting your lunch money?
Honestly, I'm considering MORE annoying visuals at this point. The default ones just won't work for me, 40% of my downs on psyker will be because a couple chaffers were hitting me from the back, and I wasn't aware of it until losing half hp. And another 40% are because deafult Peril threshold for the visual cues is nonsensical when using Assail, when you see clear enough warning you are about to blow, it's already too late, I would like full-screen visual cue to appear when I'm already at 80% peril

then I will first play more Auric malström to "warmp up" and "train" for havoc (to git gud)

I'm the sole caregiver for my wife, having a system in place that punishes the team for someone leaving. (IE no backfill, loss of attempts, demotion, in ability to join another game, loss of resources for weekly completion.) Really disincentivises someone from playing the hardest content despite the want to participate.
If h40 was an unlockable quickplay on the normal map that allowed me to play h40 with out the blowback if I had to leave suddenly I'd play it all day.
Sadly the sweaty nature of top tier players bred a system that makes playing havoc content a fucking headache.
exactly, the Terror modifier dictates how often and when you're going to be in the "ouh sh*t!" moment, you know, horde barreling towards you with 12 crushers, 10 ragers and you see 2 plague orgyns and a hel puppy come out from the other room. And the Tension modifier is I think the intensity of the events that happen? I'm not a 100% sure, if you want I'll go find it. Yeah, if for example, there's 3 people trapped in nets, and the Terror goes down, you just clean up what's currently trying to make you its lunch and then there's silence for a while. Without it, on top of those that you just killed while trying to res your mate the captains spawn with 10 bursters in a conga line behind them. That type of thing. And since the director can see you at all time anywhere it knows exactly what all your vitals show and where you are situated compared to other mates (mind you it doesn't take the dot that is the player, it takes the Coherency radius)
you want a TURBO useful life hack? Go into your Settings, under Interface, there's a "Perill effect" gauge that by default is set to 80% I think, Yoink that b*tch down to like 6% and thank me later

Now THAT's the right mentality bro. Just spam the difficulty you feel comfy with and take it upwards when you feel you're ready. Like, when you start doing the anime protagonist blade dance Omae Wa Mu Shindeiru plays then try the next difficulty. My current go-to is Aurics, preferrably Maelstrom. If I want to challenge myself I go to Havocs and try to push for Clearance level. But all in due time, trust the process and the Emperor and might beyond your imagining shall be bestowed upon you!

it does have its minuses and like mostly everything else they'll fine tune it over time, but currently, even if you're the Emperor himself, there's STILL the random % bullsh*t chance of something like that happening. 😄 But I just see it as another challenge in the run (that's why I have the Reloader and Reconnect me and bypass Log In screen mods so that once that happens I can get back in ASAP.) You missed my point, I don't have the issue with its intensity, my problem is I stop seeing all the default, mild visual cues of high Peril during an intense fight. And the only thing my vision registers when like that is the final stage (when you see the "tentacles" growing at the edges of your screen).
But when using Assail, it's often already too late - either I've already pressed the mouse button one more time, or about to do it and can't stop that movement, that's how I blow up 95% of the time. I want those intense visual cues to appear already at 80% peril

Why when i get a server error Darktide crashes and i am stuck in black screen for 5 mins, nothing works,on ps5 
Speaking from my own recent experience only starting Havoc a couple of weeks ago, I tried to avoid any clearance level that was more than 2-3 levels above what I'd already done, for example I did a lvl25 when I was clearance 22, I tried to do as many sequencial ones of my own assignments first to get used to it, and gradually learn the extra modifiers instead of immediately jumping in to 20+.
20 should be doable if you're up to 17 and feel confident, but I also found that the failure rate went up in the 20+ range.

You wasted a ton of time just sitting and holding block at the beginning
At the start of the clip you had time to get some purg in clearing out atleast some of the horde. The M1 on that staff if there isnt final toll can stun lock that mauler if you arent that comfortable holding the charge while dodging the overhead. Once the twins locked onto you that wasnt the worse play but instead of getting knocked into a deadend I would have went out the door on the left to buy some time for your team to come help.

Basically it showed two shovels and asked which one was better, and was talking about dump stats and things.
I only look at the damage number up do gooder
You need the convicts role to be able to post images and embedded images, you get it once you've messaged enough messages on the server
So basically the stats are divided in two values, current and max. Those range from 0% - 80%, no weapon can have all stats at max 80%. The values always total to 380, so you can have weapons with stats 80/80/80/80/60 for example, this distribution of values if often what people search for where 60 is the dump stat. Dump stat is the one you don't need to be high or gives you the least benefit compared to the rest the weapon has access to
The current stats can be improved by increasing the weapon mastery for that weapon family and going to the weapon customization station and empowering them
and you can see what each of the stats impacts by inspecting the weapon

the stats are complicated, but until you want to dive deeper into it, just know that Defense or Mobility are the dump stats 99% of the time.

some instances it might be prudent to have it higher than 60 but often that comes down to preference

Does anyone know why I can't seem to get any progress on Find Their Weakness? I'm tossing the stunstorm grenade and attacking but I'm not getting any results. Maybe it's because I'm using the dueling sword?
As long as you're playing on malice or higher and stunning targets before killing it sounds like a lack of crit

Not really, some have slight additions to cosmetic options but nothing more beyond that, just some role playing opportunities

Character creation backstory really does not any matter with narrative with the game and character dialogue besides you just want to be creative with your characters
But Cadia is the only planet that gives extra stuff like new eye colours that is tied to planet and it's lore
And if you play veteran and pick Cadia as home world you get to pick the Cutthroat personality which is a Cadian person

Keep distance and hope you can kill from range first. At the very least, you'll thin the horde, which can make it easier to take melee swings on them without taking excessive damage
some weapon specials can stagger them, some weapons reach stagger breakpoints on them with grievous wounds,
or just block and backdodge until u have space to pull out ur gun

inferno staff primary staggers ragers
voidblast staff secondary throws them on their asses
electro staff secondary stuns them
and voidstrike has ok stagger I guess
Fury temporarily staggers them on zealot, so you can charge in and start swinging. (Use with care lol)
Vet has grenades + shout to stagger.
Some melee weapons are also able to stagger them:
Heavy sword special attack
Combat axe push/special attack
Chainaxe IV light attack

Why do people care so much about stamina on courios? I don't find this system as easily instantly understood as Vermintide stam/guard point system

2 things
1: certain weapon want to use the push attack more which uses stamina for their attack pattern (crusher, tactical axe, ogryn pickaxe)
2: sprinting with certain builds/weapons allows you to outrun enemies which some people value then defensive curios
Stamina is worth a lot more in DT then VT
And certain classes struggle with maintaining stam because of their base stats are low (vet)
I only use stamina on 2 classes, veteran and zealot
The others can make due without
I have no stam on my shooty vet because aiming and shooting takes it away lol

Bulwark shield bash does 100% stam damage if you are blocking
There are few blessings that drain your stamina for holding block if i remember
One being tied to force sword for psyker
Getting hit while block consumes and depending what enemy it can consume more stamina

just release the moment the animation change from light to heavy

it can still be useful to hold the heavy attack when youre approaching an enemy so you can release it the moment they are in melee range
but if theyre already in range and you dont have the thrust blessing just release it as soon as the animation starts

Ranged does not deal corruption damage
Ranged attacks do no corruption, so as long as you haven't lost any wounds, you'd just go down
Sometimes you can get hit in melee while also being tagged by a ranged shot, so it can seem like the ranged attack does corruption, but it's always that one little poxwalker out of LOS

With infiltrate you basically get into a group of gunners/shooters/shotgunners and pop it. Then systematically take them out like a ninja using a melee weapon. At least that's how I play it.
The sub node for the 90% less threat generation is great for that.

Hello. Me with questions again. I know it's worth killing bosses before proceeding stages in havoc (since they follow and can lead to 4 bosses at the same time). Does the same go for other enemies? I've just seen very different play styles. One guy stayed for a while to clean the horde before proceeding. Yesterday someone was coatching to be agressive and push
if it’s a couple of chaff, or a couple shooters that are far behind, just ignore them
kill things that are close and threats
if you stay behind too long to kill things, you’ll get more horde spawns and special surges on you
There were like 10 crushers and other armoreds. But they were so far we could easily proceed. But the idea was, that they would follow to other stage and stack upon other enemies there

It all depends what is the current situation and priority
Depends on map and airlock/elevator some have boss triggers/twins/rituals after walking through where your better clearing what's behide you then going through unless it's a handful of poxwalkers which really cant do anything to you. I always say if you dont know what's in the next area clear the armor then move on fodder stuff like poxwalkers are never a problem.
Not sure where to post this, so I'll do it here. Since the last patch I noticed the game would crash a lot, almost every mission when exiting the mission after the compelion (or failure) screen. I noticed this post on Reddit Darktide and gave it it a shot, and it is working. So far no more crashes. So if you're on PC using an nVidia card with updated drivers and crashing a lot after the patch. Downgrade your drivers to the GeForce Game Ready Driver - Driver Version: 572.83 (March 15th 2025) release till Fatshark resolves this. They're both wrong, imo. Whether you're lagging behind or too far ahead, if someone's f'd off and doing their own thing, it's asking for trouble

Going solo is always bad in havoc, but these were not the situations. Main question - is it worth clearing big chunks of enemies before proceeding to elevator/air lock, even if you have opportunity to proceed.
Usually it is better to clear them out I feel, they'll just follow you to the next area if you don't and you risk spawning another wave on top of it
People here say that it depends on situation, but the only situation in havoc 30+ is endless hordes with 10-15sec breaks at best
Hard to believe tbh. It really feels non stop. I think sometimes you even get hordes before the previous ones end.
Do you play solo? Could be that you're not fast enough in clearing the horde before the next one all by yourself? I'm not sure though because I never tried solo havoc
No. Usually with people of clearance lvl 40 too. And yet there are instances where you get pinned down in a starting area for like 7mins
cause the director has alot more tickets at the beginning of progression
if its just horde then you go to airlock
if its like 20 elites each then go clear that first before they come in package with twins

I sometime take up the rear if I'm playing my Knife/Plasma Vet, since I can pick off specialists with ranged but also have the speed to sprint to the front if I'm needed, so I'll tag a crusher pack while jogging along with the team, it's less risky than staying behind and taking them on all by yourself in case a sneaky trapper hides behind the crusher pack, very easy way for things to go South fast.

Learn their attacks, be efficient
Use advantages of the missions layout, use the explosive barrels for stagger and fire ones for chip damage
Plague Ogryn is the most easiest and straight forward but beware of the charge and slam, you can block the charge with your melee if you got stamina
Chaos spawn is aggressive, you can avoid their grab if you dodge to your right at the right moment
prob won't be able to pull it off, just curious
since lately I've been getting main character syndrome teammates or people who don't seem to have dodge/block keys bound

squeak (for the plague ogre, scurry directly up to it, and bait out the single hit fist slam. All you need to do is dodge backwards to avoid the attack. After you dodge his attack, just keep repeating walking up, and dodging backwards. This makes is super easy to consistently hit headshots)
squeak (for the beast of nurgle, walk up to it, and wait for it to vomit. When it vomits, either dodge left or left or right, and just poke its back from right next to it from the side as much as possible, and repeat. Your goal is to minimise the distance that the beast moves, as it makes it harder to hit its weak point, while managing its vomit area denial so you have more room to scurry around it)
squeak (note that if you get hit by vomit, just kite until until it wears off so you dont get eaten. Addtionally, if you are a bubble psyker, you can just bubble ontop of the beast, and you will be completely safe from its vomit, even when you are right next to it.)
squeak (the chaos spawn is by far the hardest because of how oppressive it is. There is a way to get a semi consistent attack loop by walking right up to it, baiting out its single fist slam, and dodging RIGHT. From testing, it is much more consistent when you dodge to the right, and you have to hug the spawn as close as possible when dodging to keep him in this attack loop)

So what's the deal with elites oneshotting you from full wounds in Havoc
Is it an overflow bug with the corruption damage you take from melee attacks in Havoc?

overheads do so much damage that most human classes die in 1 hit since its more then 1 wound of corruption damage in the total damage delt
Ogryn can die from full or near-full health from one crusher overhead too

My theory is that the dog bite caused a tick of corruption that put him over 100% health
I got overheaded from about 90% health by a crusher in another match and instantly died
Then the zealot got overheaded and killed, but I didn't see what other instances of damage they were taking
it also can change depening on build/curios

Think I've got a few clips to show, one has a pretty clear corruption prior to dying but two other single damage instances from normal elite enemies have killed me outright

But yeah, damage reduction might be preventing a lot of oneshots in cases where people survive

Ragers can also cause the oneshots, and I'm wondering if it's like Plague Monks/Zerkers in Vermintide where all of their hits are getting sent as one giant 80-damage packet
I don't mind getting a huge input of damage but getting outright killed without prior corruption is what irks me
depening on havoc rank total melee enemy damage delt is corruption on top of certain enemies already having corruption dealing attack (poxwalkers, plague ogryns)
psyker and vet are often 2 shot by poxwalkers for this reason
1 poxwalker hit removes toughness and then 2nd 1 shots you because of the total damage being around 50% corruption which can 1 shot, in most cases
but do crushers and maulers deal corruption?

yes and no
If nothing else, it's a possible case for running more hp and anti-corruption on curios
yellow toughness also helps
yellow armor will outright prevent the oneshots

my go-to has been toughness stacking as psyker so far but the full hp and full toughness one hits made me exchange one curio for an extra wound. Should I then do something else instead?
3 toughness or 2 toughness 1 hp is a good idea
you cant stop the 1 shots from maulers and crushers on psyker without yellow toughness
3 toughness was clearly not enough, so I'll respec for 2t and 1hp next I feel
