Is $400 a reasonable price for a Silvia; yeah. It shouldn’t be sold new for what it is now.

i know they are pretty repairable in general. I woudl want to add a PID controller, but anything else needed to mod on the base version?

Personally I wouldn’t buy this and have to sink more money in.

I've currently got some gear in the 54mm portafilter range as well, so would also mean more cost swapping that out

Yep; and honestly if you don’t have any problems with your BBE I wouldn’t get it

The grinder sucks of course... but should have that sorted soon. Just a quiestion of counter space after that

prob will try to sell the BBE and just get a BB-Plus, and if I can't just keep it

Yeah. I’d also measure the dimensions of the space. From what I saw online the bbe is only ~4 inches wider.
