#very load sound of relay in Quick Mill Andreja Premium EVO

I have acquired a used Quick Mill Andreja Premium EVO espresso machine.
The heating element operates every 40 seconds which happens when the machine reaches the correct pressure, Additionally, there is a very loud sound from the relay each time it goes on.
Is this normal? Could it possibly indicate a faulty relay?
my relay details are:
RELE0980
FINDER 230V

How loud is.. very loud?

#

Is it a pressurestat ? Or some digital system with physical relay?

#

Not SSR

violet nebula
#

yes, pressurestat , nothing digital in this machine.
there is sound of TIK TIK TIK ....

hollow gust
#

Well one could argue a pressurestat is digital expresser but that’s another topic

#

Well it should make one click every time it (dis)engages

#

If it’s doing weird stuff replace it, a mater is like.. 15€?

violet nebula
#

around 60€...
also the frequency of the heating , around 40 seconds.
isn't too much?

hollow gust
#

No depends on the bandwidth. A PID can cycle every second

#

Campini also good, bit smaller bandwidth 25€

why replacing the pressostat will fix the relay TIK sound?
I was referring to the relay price, 60 euro

hollow gust

Oh you’re saying the sound doesn’t come from the pressutestat?

#

But from the fill relay?

#

But together ?

#

But it’s not actually filing the boiler every time the pstat comes up?

#

I think you might be referring to the solenoid valve, not the relay?

#

As said physical actuators make some noise

hollow gust
#

But if it’s just one click then yeah that’s normal

violet nebula

I will try describing again.
there is click sound when the heating starts to work and when it stops (verify it this morning)

the pressostat should make sound?
the relay can be replaced with SSR?

hollow gust
#

The click you hear when the heating starts and stops, is the pressostat. It shouldn’t be very loud but audible

#

If it is very loud, I’d just replace the pressostat since they’re cheap

#

There is no relay, only to fill the boiler

#

Switching to PID and SSR would remove the click (from the pressostat)

violet nebula
#

you're right!
ok, I will open the machine verify the pressostat , and order one.

what is required to switch to pid?
done that for SB machine already, not sure about HX machine.

hollow gust
#

But I would expect around the same deal as SB

BTW, not related to this topic, just operational of HX
the group head get to 100C, need pull lots of water to cool it down around 91C
sound right or also related to pressostat issue?

hollow gust
#

Yeah it does get hotter over time when idling. So flushing is necessary. You can turn down the pressure / temperature of the boiler to have the group cooler during idle (flush still required tho)

Not sure how effective / desirable that is. I think most HX e61 have it at ~1.2 bar

For more HX details ask in #pump-machines I think. I’m no HX temp expert

Thank you @hollow gust !!

Good luck ! 🙂
