ART IS DEAD

Post ur tetsuo x jg Ballard fanfics here

#

leaden oak
#

#

found out cause clipping and saw their name around before in a noise discord

#

also how i found out bout pedestrian deposit, sickness, and puce mary

#

soft canyon
#

PEDESTRIAN DEPOSIT

#

TF I WAS JUST ABT TO POST A TRACK

leaden oak
#

have you listened to the architector

soft canyon
#

Love these folks, Dyer's hands is prob my fav noise album even tho admittedly as much for its drone tracks

#

I dont think I have actually! :0 if I did I dont think it left much of an impression

leaden oak
#

some of my favs are default standard by incapacitants, hanatarash 3,incinerator by dreamcrusher, night of the bloody tapes by the cherry point, spectrum ripper by masonna, and thousands of dead gods by the rita

#

even tho dreamcrusher more power noise and hanatarash and incapacitatins are more noise punk

#

they still good

soft canyon
#

They are, I'll second h3 in a heartbeat

#

For me it's like dyers hands, ottoman black by jason cromer, venereology and hybrid noisbloom

#

I was into a lot of prurient stuff too but I found out some stuff abt him that's sus af so I dont know if I wanna rep him tbh

warm magnet
warm magnet
#

I enjoy Dreamcrusher and…I think Five Star Hotel kinda counts? Like Gray Data?

soft canyon
#

Hybrid has a lot of these almost scifi sounding like laser spounds it's kinda funny

warm magnet
#

imagine doing a Merzbow tier list lmaooo, I wonder if that’s a thing

soft canyon
#

It's one of the fun Masami records in my opinion :3

warm magnet
#

I’ll check it!!! that sounds exciting

soft canyon
#

Oh dear god does the average working american have enough free time to even listen to all his material within a year? Merzbient alone is like 10 hours long

#

Yeah it's really cool! It's got this cyberpunkish "organic clashing with synthetic vibe" to it that I thinks super cool

snow fiber
#

Amazing choice of name sis

#

I’m all in for this

#

Wanna make a playlist for this subject matter also?

#

Fuck it we’re doing another playlist im so fucking down

#

(I also want to go back and add more bangers to our other playlists so badly)

soft canyon
#

For sure!!! Let's do it, I need more noise in my life

soft canyon
tropic raven
#

Helloooo I've been wanting to get more into noise :]

snow fiber
#

(Work in progress pls be patient)

tropic raven
#

YAY :)

#

Pharmakon win

#

And dreamcrusher

snow fiber
#

Hell yea Pharmakon is one of my all time favorites

#

But I have to give the title of my favorite to white suns

tropic raven
#

SAME HEREEE idk if I've listened to white suns

snow fiber
#

Sarah introduced me to them for their noise rock on albums like sinew but I preferred their pure noise releases on albums such as totem, psychic drift and the lower way

tropic raven
#

📝

snow fiber
#

Their noise rock on their earlier releases is still raw as all fuck tho

tropic raven
#

I do enjoy rock adjacent genres

snow fiber
#

I’m lying to myself tho my favorite noise artist is of course Uboa

#

The origin of my depression aaaaa

#

One of my favorite albums of all time

red bloom
#

they're probably my second favorite noise artist/band after uboa

snow fiber
#

Imo. In my most honest opinion. Every trans person should listen to that album at least once in their life

#

It’s soul crushing as all fuck and very tightly related to the trans experience

soft canyon
#

YYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUY

#

ARE THE ORIGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN

#

OF MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

#

DE-PRE-SIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!

#

Her voice rips so fucking hard how do I scream like that

tropic raven
#

I need to listen to uboa more!

snow fiber
#

Hell. If you want. Lay down in bed. Under your blanket

#

And pop that shit on and give it its due time

#

I remember when I first listened to the origin of my depression was last year June. At 1 month HRT. It showed up on a noise rock playlist I was listening to on shuffle. And of all tracks it was don’t leave me. I was at work just cleaning the place getting ready to close but

#

When that track came on I stopped dead in my tracks and just sat down to bask in the fucking depth of emotions she conveys in her noise

#

And went home to listen to the whole album from start to finish. Holy shit it fucking tore me apart

tropic raven
#

Laying in bed in the complete darkness with headphones loud is the best way to experience noise I've found

#

Rhymed oops

#

DONT LEAVE ME HAS ALSO MADE ME ENTIRELY GO STILL I do recall that track. Stuck with me

red bloom
#

when my vinyl arrived I waited until my family was out of the house, got my blanket, turned off the lights and blasted that shit

kind tiger
#

some clips from when I saw yellow swans last month

#

still can't believe I got to see them

#

full album is titled Werewolf in the Black Space

red bloom

# leaden oak wait what he do

so basically he collaborated with a ||nazi|| on some power electronics. i dont know if his background was known at the time and prurient otherwise has never alluded to any political anything , but any association with those sorts of people is pretty fucking suspicious if you ask me

leaden oak
#

oh

#

erm yikes

soft canyon
#

yeah :/

#

I ought to research it a bit more but, yea i dunno id rather just play it safe

#

shame

leaden oak
#

yea

#

can i add five star hotel?

#

ik its just more loud

#

than noise

kind tiger
#

he's also released fascists on his label hospital productions and collabbed with a probable fascist in a band called ash pool

#

which unfortunately is the guy from alberich too

leaden oak
#

fuck

#

gotta go back on macbook and remove

#

wait fsh or prurient?

snow fiber
#

FSH is good

leaden oak
#

oh ok

red bloom
#

a worrying amount of noise bros are like weird alt-right types

leaden oak
#

yea

red bloom
#

kinda makes sense in a way because it seems like some ppl use it as an excuse to use perverted fucked up imagery under the guise of being "artsy"

soft canyon
#

Yeah it's supposed to "transgressive" and shit, even back in the throbbing gristle days they'd play with fascistic imagery and I guess actual fascists interpreted it as endorsement

kind tiger
#

ok i looked it up again, slightly misremembered

both dominick fernow (prurient, vatican shadow) and kris lapke (alberich) are in a band called departure chandelier with a member of Akitsa which is not explicitly a nazi band but that member runs a record label that has released nsbm and there's a very sketchy comp that both akitsa and ash pool are on

red bloom
leaden oak
#

i remember hearing something bout alberich

red bloom
#

but I really love their stuff so idk

kind tiger
#

dominick also has a disgusting extremely misogynistic project exploring jezebel

leaden oak
#

oh

red bloom
#

bleh

snow fiber
#

Removed alberich

kind tiger
#

i added a ton of stuff to the playlist earlier

#

ranges from old school industrial to harsh noise to power noise to glitch

snow fiber
#

@leaden oak can u do me a favor and pls limit contributions to like 2 per LP or a few per artist we always handle playlists of this sort as like. Something you can pop on and shuffle and sample what you deem the best of that artist

#

Just the way we’ve always done things my frend :3

leaden oak
#

ok

#

mb

snow fiber
#

Thank u bubby

leaden oak
#

its hard to pick best

#

sorry

snow fiber
leaden oak
#

removed stuff

red bloom
#

just checked out the noise playlist that shit goes crazy so far

#

super happy to see ryoji ikeda on there, I kinda discovered noise music through him since his stuff came up randomly on my Spotify a few years ago

kind tiger
#

i love his stuff

#

i put him on there as sort of a breather from the really distorted stuff, i love noise that goes the opposite direction and uses a lot of minimalism

red bloom
#

yeah definitely same

#

tbh I've lately been a bit more into dark ambient type stuff or at least stuff that isn't just straight hnw

leaden oak
#

i just like noise thats either really loud or really fuzzy

#

like atleast 110+ decibels when full blast

#

tinnitus gonna go hard 🔥

soft canyon
#

so aurally this is much more of an ambient record but this shit goes so hard https://youtu.be/gWzc1lY3Z9o

NOISEDOME !!!! 🥰

#

noise is so tasty

#

heres a series of really awesome albums from a bunch of different artists centered around hating cops 🥰
wiki: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mort_Aux_Vaches
spotify playlist because it is the most complete playlist ive seen so far: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5VPaGfFQl3pXP00vcnLB9d?si=05unVEwWRoeL-V49UcOe-A

Mort aux Vaches is the name of a series of albums released by the Staalplaat record label in collaboration with the Dutch radio station, VPRO. The name translates literally from French as “Death to Cows,” with “cows” being French slang for cops - it is equivalent to “Death to Pigs” in English.

#

not exclusively noise but very experimental stuff and cool nonetheless

somber vale
#

sounds cool as

soft canyon
#

Love that album. I know a lot of no input stuff tends to lean harsh so I appreciate soft and unobtrusive it is without being warm or sentimental

#

At least not thru the whole thing

#

I saw an interview with the guy where he talked abt being fascinated with sound by itself, completely divorced from directed emotion or an articulate theme. Just like as pure of an abstraction of "music" as possible which I think is super neat. Even with noise being as abstract as it is it's still very angry in its texture, context, performance, aesthetic, everything. It's a genre for catharsis still; again, like the most abstracted logical conclusion of punk rock. So unapologetically, unfetteringly punk it ceases to be rock at all

#

This isnt that. it's like a Rothko or one of those monochrome color field paintings that are so glossy the subject becomes the reflection of your silhouette on the surface of the canvas

desert badge
#

The Five Starcle Men deserve more recognition

snow fiber
#

i thought i should revive the noise thread to share this one

#

not sure if many of you are familiar with it

soft canyon
#

so like

#

how does y'all approach HNW?

#

im listening to thousands of dead gods rn and its... challenging lol

#

the lack of dynamics really hard to cope with

red bloom
#

yeah tbh that issue is why I tend to listen to other types of noise that aren't just straight hnw

#

poser noise, if you will (mostly joking)

#

I really don't like how little movement there is

#

no real advice sorry, I just relate super hard to your predicament

kind tiger
#

unironically though, I have to be in a really shitty mood to be able to listen to it all the way through, but when I've listened to a few Rita releases, I really hyperfocus on it. After a while I start noticing subtle shifts and hints of what the source material was, or maybe I just think I do lol

#

either way, the effect is that by intently focusing on it, both the world is blocked out and I can start picking up the subtle timbral shifts and pops start becoming more apparent

#

but it's like, tiring to listen that way

#

and I can't even like read an article while doing that, hence the so-depressed-i-cant-do-anything requirement lol

soft canyon
#

yea trying to pay attention is exhausting

#

its so dense i feel like to hear any sort of timbral shifts or anomalies i have to listen at a volume thats almost painful to listen to

#

otherwise it drowns itself out

#

yea i dunno i mean like, i got most of the way thru the album before i had to stop

#

so it must've done something lol

#

i think the concept is doing the majority of the heavy lifting tho

#

i feel like this is a nice compromise between HNW and my own tastes

kind tiger
#

have you heard the Rita + wilt - werewolf in the black space? I like it more than the Rita's straight hnw. Just the slightest bit of dynamics makes it so much more interesting to listen to when I'm not in the worst mood ever

soft canyon
#

i haven't but ill take a look

all time top 10 record for me

#

I've been listening to ground zero plays standards a ton lately

#

their rendition of el derecho de vivir en paz is insane

soft canyon
#

lmao i dont doubt it

#

i get in a super nondescript avant-prog mood from time to time

#

this shits fire, kinda bummed i didn't get into them earlier :/

soft canyon
#

Was chatting about power electronics that isn't racist and/or misogynis in the merzbow discord and someone brought up controlled bleeding

#

Far as I'm aware these dudes are cool. If they're not please let me know lol

#

Which is to say if anyone knows screamy aggro PE that isn't chuddy pls lmk

kind tiger
#

They're cool yeah

#

I found their album body samples at this boomer record store that had almost nothing other than pre 1990 rock, country and jazz lol

#

the single release I wanted after half an hour of browsing

red bloom
#

finding noise records in a regular ass record store feels like digging up buried treasure it's the best thing ever

soft canyon
#

Frrrrr

#

I found a bunch of old coil records at this dadrock record store years ago

#

Like this one cover of tainted love they did as an aids benefit

#

They had an og pressing of spirit of eden and an autechre ep there too

red bloom
#

I've been to Aaron Dilloway's record store a couple times and it's at least half noise and experimental shit, but other than that I think I've found maybe two noise releases ever at record stores

#

I found a couple noise records at amoeba in SFO but that place is gigantic so it stands to reason that there would be a couple somewhere in thwre

soft canyon
#

Yea that definitely feels like a specialty thing

#

Like you'd need to go to rrrrecords if you want any chance of finding noise in the wild

kind tiger
#

Yeah it's uncommon at most stores but I've found a couple that cater towards more extreme styles, like end of an ear in Austin. I found a bunch of old negativland tapes at one place down the street from my apartment here in Seattle too

soft canyon
#

Seattle seems like the sort of place to have those kinds of dope specialty stores

#

I remember watching a hazel video where she talks about this video rental/archive place she curated an obscuro anime exhibit for

#

I don't know of any over here cept this one metal store with a shit ton of death and black metal records

somber vale

Any hunting lodge fans in here?

kind tiger
#

I've not heard of that, I'll have to peep soon

I think I have to be in a good enough mindset to listen because it’s very confrontational I feel

yeah I feel that way about most noise music

it's not music I can listen to while I'm doing chores or studying or walking to class or whatever. I have to be in Noise Mode.

#

Noise is something I have to listen to while doing something else I find

#

Helps me focus on the music

#

Like when I worked as a stable hand I'd spend hours listening to merzbow records

red bloom
#

huh I'm the exact opposite

#

well usually I find that if I try to listen to noise while doing a task I get too focused on the music and then I get distracted. I usually need music that's more unobtrusive if that makes sense
