#Difficulties with tags

Hi, I'm having trouble with tags.
I use Files on two computers, one at home with Windows 11 and one at work with Windows 10, both have the same version of Files, the same settings and tags (both have the same filetags.json file), but when I create a file on my home computer and assign a tag to it and synchronize this file via OneDrive or send it by email or copy it to the pendrive and open it on my work computer, the tag information is not taken along or is not synchronized through OneDrive (I believe this should be possible through ADS or I misunderstood this functionality).
Is this the correct behavior or once a tag is assigned to the file should it appear on any computer that uses Files?

It should be transferred but it's possible the ADS file is getting stripped by Pendrive or the email

#

OneDrive works for me so it should work in theory but maybe there is a setting or something

I carried out several tests and tags are not synchronized, I don't know if I need to enable some function for ADS to work, I've already tried reinstalling Files, changing filetags.json but nothing helped.
One thing I noticed is that when I create a tag on one computer so that it appears in the list of tags on the other computer I need to export the settings via the Files menu and on the other computer open the filetags.json file and insert the new tag manually because the exported file is different, the beginning of the files is different, this means that Files cannot read the file if I import the settings. I don't know if that influences

What if you edit them to be the same?

It works, the tag lists are identical on both computers, but it doesn't solve the problem of the tag not being associated with the file on another computer, something is preventing the ads from working but I don't know how to solve it

Do you see the data streams if enable the option to display them?

#

You can find it under folder settings > hidden items

Now that you mentioned this, I tried to locate this data and I can't see it using the hidden items, but I can see it using CMD.
Doing some more tests I discovered that on the computer where the "test tags.txt" is created, using CMD, the file "test tags.txt:files:$DATA" is created together, but when OneDrive synchronizes on the other computer this file is not present

Try restarting Files

#

Also, I assume the file sent over email doesn’t have the data at all

Email wont send ADS data, Cloud drives should do but don't always, best sending feedback to them to add proper support for it.

@quartz escarp it looks like cmd is able to read the data

@open mulch do you have Files On Demand enabled?

Hello, sorry for the delay, I was testing ways to transfer the files and unfortunately OneDrive does not synchronize the tags, the only way I was able to do this was through physical media, no online transfer method synchronized the tags, unfortunately.
Thanks for the support.

No, they are all permanent on the PC, they are not on demand

Does it work if you enable the option?
