#Restore Default File Explorer

When I first installed Files I set it as default file explorer. I did make a registry backup, but I've been using it for a month or so now without any issues and had to make a new registry backup for another reason, which I foolishly overwrote the previous one.

I have just started to encounter some unusual behaviour when opening folders in an external USB device and I think it could be related to this feature.

I'd like to try and undo the registry changes manually to see if it resolves the problem.

Can anyone tell me what keys I need to change to undo the changes Files made and get it back to stock? I'm on Windows 11. TIA

I already did that, and the issue remains

#

So, I'm not convinced it's reverted all the changes

I found this YouTube from a year ago, will the method described still work?

In this video, I will be showing you how to reset your default file manager to File Explorer if you don't want to use the modern file manager Files.

Intermittently, when I click on an external drive (left hand menu) then click on a folder within that drive, rather than opening the folder Windows launches a new Explorer window.

That happens in both Explorer and Files
