Ok, I am a new user but I will give you my honest opinion, from a new user point of view...
I hope to be able to update this thread, although this doesn't seem to be a thread, as I discover new things, good or bad.

  1. The action on clicking on a file in a directory using the Shift key (to include more than one) reacts differently when you click on the icon beside the filename (the one that produces the checkbox) and when you click on the filename itself... I don't know how to explain it better than this but play around with clicking on different lines and you will see... If you need further clarification, please ask me.

I think that the height is too heigh for each part of the system settings... most of the pages can fit inside a normal page size and the Expand tags just don't work very well

#

for example... If you click on the Context menu options... the menu explands but doesn't center the focus... it justs disappears out of view and you have to scroll down to find it

#

I think if you just make the rows thinner... it will all fit within a single page (for most expanders) and it would look and function better.

I think this fits better in #general

well, I am here now, so I will give you my two bits worth on this thread.

thirdly, when I opened the Files app... the default was small icon files... I had no idea how to change it to detail view and still haven't found it.

these are not derogatory comments to the project... I think it is great. I read somewhere that we will be able to attach tags to a file to highlight files that we want to remember... That is very cool. I am just giving you my first impressions... I am looking forward to using it more

First, welcome to the community!

The file icon doubles as a checkbox, there are a couple of settings around this so make sure to check them out.

This is standard design in Windows, it's a bit big but it's secondary UI so it doesn't really get in the way of regular use.

You can change the icon size from the layout flyout (icon is on toolbar) or via keyboard shortcuts.

We apreciate it, thank you!

what is the best way to send you a little video of the issues with the shift-left click in selecting items and how it screws up. I used to use OBS studio but it doesn't seem to work... is there another application that can create a short video or GIF?

The file icon is a check box so this is the intended behavior

the problem occurs when you click on the area that is not the checkbox... it still checks the box but when you check three or more files and then go back and click on the area that is not the checkbox, instead of unchecking the item it deletes the checkmarks on the formerly checked items

#

if that makes any sense

#

I checked all the directories one at a time

#

if I click on the js directory now (not the checkbox but the row itself), I get this...

#

maybe that is the designed behavior... this is while the shift button is held down the entire time.

#

ahh sorry... ignore my observations... CTRL works the way I was expecting... sorry about that
