Hi. I use Google Drive as the root folder for all my files, so it would be great if the folder could be expanded as a disk partition or favourite files.

It may sound strange, but in this way public folders are sort of merged with folders that have certain values, making it a little harder to navigate. You don't add disks to the "favorites" section, because there is a separate section for that.
In short, it's purely an aesthetic thing, but if Microsoft did this for their OneDrive and there are a lot of people who do the same with their Google Drive using the registry - I'm not the only one.
Now, to be honest, it looks a lot more confusing. But then again, maybe I'm wrong and it's just my weirdness.
