Battery life depends on what apps you use, however I still believe it should usually last at least 8 hours. I would recommend waiting a week or so, as background tasks can sometimes drain a lot of battery.

Ok good. Maybe indexing got insanely intensive with recent updates since I've heard similar things with the M5 MacBooks in the past and it got better after 1-2 weeks.
