Let me keep this crisp, i’ve been using google photos for about 3 years now, and have around 37GB worth of pictures already backed up (i have the 100GB cloud storage option)
my main use case for this, is to have a backup of everything, i.e. Photos, Whatsapp, Notes, Contacts, Calendar etc.
it seems to make more sense for me, to get iCloud since i can have all things at one place.
torn between the two, can anyone help me. if you’ve used both, and how is it for your device

There is nothing wrong with using iCloud for photos as well, it's what it was made for
a side note: the Photos app where you can browse your photos is not separate from iCloud, your photos are still stored in iCloud, the app is just a dedicated place to view and manage them

reason for my shift is, i pay INR ₹130 for google photos for 100GB and INR ₹229 for 200GB
iCloud just makes a better deal for me

I'm probably being a bit biased, but I'm going to say iCloud photos. I switched from Google photos to iCloud photos, and I do not regret it. With iCloud photos with advanced data Prodection turned on your media are E2EE.
