#Thinking of Selling my 2020 iPad Pro for an iPad Mini A17.

I’ve had my iPad Pro for just over 2 and a half years now and besides using it for math classes or the occasional thing on it, I barely use it. I think it’s because I have a MacBook Air which is a fully fledged computer for almost about the same size, or I can be really lazy and just use my phone which is even bigger than my last one thanks to having the iPhone 17. I went to Best Buy today to try it out and I really liked the size of it. I kind of wish I got a bigger size phone this year, although I really didn’t want to spend the money for the pro max and even if there was a plus this year, I still kind of think it’s too big for me and I do actually like the size of my phone. Now having the mini, it would be even more portable than my current pro and it would be much more up to date as well. I would see myself whip out the mini to watch content on it and maybe for more intensive shopping or looking up sessions on the go. I don’t draw or do anything like that and I’m done with math classes so I don’t even use it to take notes anymore. I have an Apple Pencil 2 for my iPad right now, but I think I would just go without getting a new one unless I really want to write quick handwritten notes for stuff in the future. I’m thinking of grabbing one this week if they go on sale and then making a decision before the return period closes. What do yall think?

TLDR: I’m thinking about switching to the iPad mini from the pro because my usage of it is cannibalized by my iPhone and my MacBook due to its size I think. I’m not an artist and I don’t typically take notes with my iPad anymore:

Additionally my iPad Pro has 1TB of storage and cellular capabilities which I don’t really use but I think I get really good value for it.

Go for it

Here’s the link to directly compare the 2

#

The main thing is that the iPad mini doesn’t have ProMotion

#

And the mini has Touch ID instead of Face ID

#

But if you don’t care about either, I’d say go for it

If they made a pro mini I would get that

#

I actually picked one up today at target cuz it was $100 off and I’m really liking so far

#

I think it’s a way better device to be in the middle of the iPhone and the Mac

I’d take the A17P mini over the A12X iPad Pro any day of the week

There was also an Apple Developer Transition Kit Mac that ran off an A12Z and was in a Mac mini enclosure. The public was never able to get it as it was meant for developers transitioning their Mac apps to Apple silicon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developer_Transition_Kit

The Developer Transition Kit is the name of two prototype Mac computers made available to software developers by Apple Inc. The first Developer Transition Kit was made available in 2005 prior to the Mac transition to Intel processors to aid in the Mac's transition from PowerPC to an Intel-based x86-64 architecture. A second Developer Transition ...
