When the shortcut is first ran, it will begin by playing the Apple Pay sound

After that, Siri will say one of two options
“ transaction confirmed”
“ transaction denied”

Once Siri is done, saying one of those prompts, the files app will launch and display a corresponding photo in full screen
If Siri said it was denied then the denied photo will appear
And vice versa

Please keep in mind. This shortcut was made for comedic purposes only and does not actually transfer money from one account to another.

Now for the set up
This does require some set up since you need to choose the sound that you want to be played at the beginning and what pictures you want to show up
I will be including all the images and videos that I used, but these can be switched

Go to the shortcut and edit it
Where you see the first empty file slot put the video I have below
This is the Apple Pay sound, but like I said previously, if you wish you can change this to be whatever you want

In the second file slot put the first photo
The denied image

In the third empty file slot put the second image
The successful transfer image

If you wish to make your own images with the text, I was able to do this all in the Notes app
Just write what you want and then take a screenshot and try to make sure the text is centred

#

Then in the shortcut, I clicked the share button and added it to my home screen
This is optional though

To successfully pull off this joke, I recommend just holding the phones above each other and then click the button
Hopefully, this makes the recipient believe that you have actually taken money from them

Remember, this is for comedic purposes only and should not be intended to be used in ways that may be harmful to others

#

Let me know if you are having any issues with downloading the shortcuts
I am new to sharing shortcuts like this

#

With shortcuts, you can make something that when installed will ask the user for file paths - or you can also bundle in the images with the shortcut using the Text action and base64

#

I will have to learn how to do that

fresh hamlet
#

The first one is in Shortcut Info > Import Questions
The second one is a bit tricky

graceful dove
#

All right, thanks
I will look into it

This is where I’m at, but it doesn’t seem to be working
When I do share the shortcut, there’s another screen that pops up talking about set up, but it doesn’t really seem like you can do anything with that screen

fresh hamlet
#

You should be able to select a file in that screen

graceful dove
# fresh hamlet You should be able to select a file in that screen

OK now when I share it, the file shows up on the other device, but it still doesn’t appear. I can download that file.

When I click on it to download it, it brings up all my files on that device, but the open button is dimmed representing that it cannot be opened

#

OK, I think the issue is when I go to download that file. It actually thinks I want to select one of my own files.
Not sure why that’s the case though

Tap the ScreenRecording… text box

@fresh hamlet

#

Any ideas?

fresh hamlet
#

The import questions are what are asked to be set when the shortcut is installed on a new device

graceful dove
#

Oh, I thought the whole point is it would automatically install the file with the shortcut

fresh hamlet
#

No, you would need to use Text, Base64, and Base64 Decode for that

graceful dove
#

Ah

graceful dove
#

Alr, my apologies for the confusion
Thanks for all your help
I will take another look at that example

fresh hamlet
#

No worries for the confusion - how do you think I learned what I know (which is like a tenth of Shortcut’s potential lol)

graceful dove
#

Fair enough

fresh hamlet
#

Shortcuts has a ton of potential, esp with iOS 18 and 26 - it’s nice to see Apple put effort into the customization side of iOS

graceful dove
#

Yes, definitely

fresh hamlet
#

Which a lot of companies kinda just abandon sometimes

graceful dove
#

I think it would be cool for other devices other than the Mac to have the Automator app, but we will take what we can get

fresh hamlet
#

Yeah

#

Personally I don’t really need lower level more computer-like access to iOS

#

So shortcuts works fine

#

(Other than being able to make an actual UI)
