Hey, Apple Tech! Let's make logical sense of this. Cool?

Apple is officially using almost 40 GB of only 64 that my device holds!!! THIS IS CRIMINAL. I can hardly download anything!!! I have offloaded most of my apps, and I can't even open a video in my iCloud Drive! Is THIS right?! YOUR CACHE AND OS SHOULD NOT BE DOMINATING MORE THAN 50% OF MY DEVICE!!! I'm pretty damn savvy with my tech, and yet, you sandbox unnecessary logs and other cache from me... WHO OWNS THIS DEVICE?! If you do, you can sure as hell pay me back... This has been a long-standing issue, and even with reversions to older OS's, this issue persists. This issue FAR predates 26 Beta... But it's an every-hour issue instead of an every-other-day issue. There is truly no recourse other than an overhaul on the system's data and caching protocols. Cool... we got a beautifully buggy OS but can hardly use it just like I could hardly use the past 5...

I at present have not one photo on this 2-year-old iPad, no messages because I had to delete them all, no local files and limited apps. This is theft!

System Data = 20.85 GB (what in the wiretap are you needing 20.85 GB in caches, logs and "other resources" for?!?!?!)

iPadOS = 19.25 GB (Apple Intelligence = 7.05 GB; iPadOS = 12.2 GB)

I refuse to back this thing up for the THIRD time in TWO years just to try to gain back room that should already be mine!!!

Quasi, this is NOT a bug. This is a systemic flaw that I have dealt with for 3 years. I run OS betas all the time... I refuse to back this thing up for the THIRD time in TWO years just to try to gain back room that should already be mine!!!

a) the best (and likely only) solution to clear system data is to literally back up the device, wipe it, and restore the backup. It's a lengthy process, but it works most of the time, and the backup ensures that all your data is intact.
b) betas are well known to use more system data than public releases- meaning that system data can easily be upwards of 20GB due to additional logging. I'd suggest trying to offload some apps if you're consistently getting low on storage.
c) it also doesn't help that the iPad has 64GB of storage, which is anemic by today's standards. maybe consider getting 128GB of storage for your next iPad.

... have you heard me? I have hardly any apps, no photos, no messages, and this predates any beta programme I ever have been involved in... I've done this repeatedly for years. And thanks for the vote of confidence! I had to buy an entirely new iPad just for work because this is a consistent issue. I should not be punished by Apple for having bought this iPad only 2 years ago... That's unprofessional and gaslighting

presenting what apple does here really won’t make a difference it’s been like this for years

#

if you’re aware betas cause such a huge jump in system data why not just avoid them in general rather than updating throughout all ur devices?

#

no offense again but if ur gonna complain at least have some sense in some of ur decisions

I even have iOS 26 betas on a few 64GB devices and my system data on those devices isn't as bad as yours. If it's been doing this even on non-beta builds, something else is going on.

Like I said, literally the only solution would be to back up the iPad, wipe it, and restore the backup. It's lengthy, but it's not hard to do, and since it's backing up your whole device, all your data should still be intact.
