iPhone 13 mini
iOS 26 public beta 1

Was at pool yesterday and forgot phone in pocket, noticed about 20 minutes after getting into pool and took it out and placed it inside of a towel then 5 minutes before I left the park left it above towel to get sun and dry that way. When I got home my phone was working just fine though the charger had a water detection. I played one of those videos with the speaker noise to remove water until my phone died. I then plugged my phone in and it seemed to work just fine with no issues. I left it to charge overnight as I thought the issue I was resolved, however when I woke up the power button seems to think it’s constantly being pushed and is constantly activating Siri. When I turn my phone off it seems to boot loop but when pressing power and holding volume down it seems to boot into iOS. The power button issue seems to persist and every time I press volume up/down it takes a screenshot.

I think this seems like a classic case of water damage but I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to remedy this. I don’t have any money so I can’t take it to a repair shop to get it fixed and I don’t have Apple care so I can’t go to Apple to get it fixed.

Another issue I’ve noticed is Face ID seems to also not work at all

Remove the SIM card, and stop using the phone for a few days. It's good advice to stop usage of any device as soon as it comes in contact with water. Dry the device with a soft cloth. Even if you try your best, you may not be able to fix the issues you're having, including the Face ID issues.

Your best bet is to take the phone to a repair shop, unfortunately. If you're unable to do this (which it seems like you can't), you may just need to use a different phone for now.

Even if you take it to a repair shop in hopes of getting it repaired, you may still just need to buy a new phone if issues continue occurring.

I do not have a backup phone so this one will still be my primary device until I choose to upgrade.

Alright.

This issue is resolved then, thanks!

# vestal peak Alright.

There's also a chance the phone could just stop working completely within a day or two. You never know what could happen with water damaged phones
