So my MacBook is from 2020 and is an intel. So it is very slow. This has always annoyed me but since my school gives out Chromebooks I would typically use that for my school work since it is faster. But I’m doing college prep right now and have to use my Mac since I need to use my personal google account. I was wondering if it is worth it to get a new MacBook now or wait until next summer. I’m not sure if any new Mac’s are coming out between now and then.
#When should I buy a new MacBook?

Getting a new MacBook right now is definitely possible. The MacBook Air just got a refresh earlier this year, and there's rumours that the next-generation M5 MacBook Pro may not come till 2026.
I def would need one before then since I’m going to college
As for what MacBook you should buy, it depends on your workflow and budget. For most students, an M4 MacBook Air is plenty and is the best bang for your buck.
Yea I don’t need anything fancy. Usually I let my dad deal with all the spec stuff since he is a software engineer . But he does not like Mac’s lol
Yeah, go ahead and buy a MacBook now then! I can assure you the Intel will not be sufficient enough for college.
Yea lol this thing has made me want to throw my computer out the window. The only reason I have waited to get a new one is because I have my Chromebooks
As a person who uses an Apple Silicon MacBook I can assure you that anything in Apple's current MacBook lineup is absolutely worth it.
@lament light so have you decided yet?
I will like to get a new one this summer espically since there’s no new one coming out soon. Just have to convince with my parents…
yeah, Apple has no plans to release a new Mac this summer so it's a perfect opportunity to get an M4 MacBook Air if possible
The one thing that sucks is my phone is also getting old so I need one before college ( my parents words not mine it makes me sound spoiled 😭 ) So it’s going to be pricy so we got to space it out. And I have a twin sister with the same gen devices as me
what phone do you have? The MacBook is obviously higher priority for college and stuff.
11
My mom has the 10 tho 😀
i'd probably focus on the MacBook this summer and the iPhone next summer. The 11 gets iOS 26 still.
Is support ending this winter? Or was that just a rumor?
