#Planning to get a new ipad

I currently own an iPad 8th Gen (32GB), which I got during COVID for online classes. With all the latest updates and system changes, the storage has become quite limited, making it hard to download apps or even install software updates.

I’ve been looking into upgrading to a new iPad and am torn between the latest basic iPad and the iPad Air (11-inch). I mainly use my iPad to watch videos and browse social media. Since I'm in my first year of university and already have a laptop, I’ll primarily be using the iPad for entertainment—like watching videos and movies.

My dilemma is whether to go for the iPad Air with the M3 chipset to make it more future-proof (in case I decide to use it for more demanding tasks later on) or stick to the basic model with more storage.

Since I'm currently studying in Europe, where electronics are pretty expensive due to taxes, I’m planning to buy it from the Middle East, where prices are more affordable.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

The iPad Air M3 is a huge upgrade from the iPad 8

#

I mean if you’re on a budget, the new base iPad is okay. But I would definitely recommend the Air.

The iPad A16 is not a good deal, unless you use it for:

  • a child
  • a POS terminal
  • a kiosk
  • mass deployment (businesses/schools/etc)

True. I had one but only really used it for streaming and web browsing since I had a computer. So I think it can be a decent option if you primarily use a computer and don’t want to spend a bunch of money on an iPad and don’t want to go through the hassle of buying refurbished.

If you are low on money get air m3 with minimal storage and buy an ssd for 1TB ($70-80)

#

I have air 5th gen for 3 years now performance good (sometimes laggy in Goodnotes)

#

Also look at IPad Pro 5th gen, cheaper, better audio, bigger screen size (12.9), M1 chip (worse than m3 but lowkey still strong), better screen

Getting 60hz for entertainment consumption sounds meh

Get an M1 iPad, it is more than capable for anything an iPad can do

#

You will get it at a great discount

I have an M1 iPad Pro, still works like a beast
