MacBook Air
Whether it be M1, M2 or M3
Any modern Air will do those tasks just fine
Yeah MacBook Air is the best choice.
I heard M1 is susceptible to flexgate issues
Right now im eyeing the m2 macbook pro, with 16 GB of ram and a 256 GB SSD. im also eyeing an M1 Pro MacBook Pro
The M1 Pro MacBook Pro is better than the M2. Unless you're looking at an M2 Pro or even M3 Pro.
Nah I don’t need that much power
My preference is the M1 Pro but I’m ok with the M2 MacBook Air if the price is too high
The M2 MacBook Air should be pretty good. I'd recommend getting 16GB of RAM at minimum.
If you tend to store some stuff locally, look at getting a model with 512GB SSD or higher.
I have 2 TB in iCloud storage plus a 1 TB external drive so I could keep stuff in either place
This is the first I’ve heard anything like this
Generally speaking, anything that has an Apple M1 chip or newer should do the job just fine, as long as you get 16GB of RAM or higher. Avoid any of the Intel Macs though, those are getting dated and likely won't get updates for much longer.
Yeah, none of my apple silicon MacBooks have had this issue, it's mainly 2016-2020 Intel models.
I’d blame an Intel MacBook Air before an M1 for sure
My Intel MacBook Pro bent
Heat can do that, and the M1 doesn’t produce much
yeah there was a lot of issues with the 2016-2020 Intel Macs
the people having this issue on their M1 or later MacBook either got a defective unit or don't take good care of their MacBooks
Exactly
or it was badly repaired
I've even seen a 2018 MacBook Air stop working because the CPU kept getting too hot
don't even get me started on their butterfly keyboards... those were not great to type on
and there were also more reports of failures
I think the Windows laptop scene was thriving during 2016-2020, even for professionals
that or people bought a 2015 MacBook Pro
or kept their old MacBook until the M1
the 2016-2020 MacBooks were terrible
The 2019 Mac Pro and the iMacs were okay though
but people were avoiding Apple's laptops like crazy until the M1 came out
the design was just too thin for the older Intel Macs
