Webroot is a legit antimalware product, but it probably won't be as good as the included Windows Defender in Windows 10/11.

It was probably preinstalled with the machine, so it's safe to uninstall it. Although, you or your neighbour should probably reinstall Windows to remove all the OEM crap (make sure to download it from Microsoft though)

Anything important will need to be backed up before reinstalling, as data will be wiped. 90% of the time, any drivers that need to be installed will be automatically be installed when the machine is connected to the internet.

# plain sonnet So do you think it’s a real popup?

If she purchased webroot, the chances of that being real is likely. Although I would probably uninstall it and use the free Windows Security suite that comes bundled in modern versions of Windows such as Windows 10 or 11.

Windows Security will likely work better.

She prob got like a month free or something, and it’s like malwarebytes when it expires - the most annoying thing ever

I don't get why most OEMs just put stock Windows on there instead of adding a bunch of OEM garbage

#

like mcafee or norton

#

no one wants those

Yeah most antiviruses are bad, just use the normal windows antivirus
Like windows even has a built in tool to search for and get rid of malicious software
