Wanted to ask what are the pros and cons of using apple intelligence? Just bought a 16 pro max and was thinking if I should use it or not. Does it have an affect on Betty performance or anything? Thanks!

I haven’t noticed any battery or performance issues with Apple Intelligence disabled. It’s safe to enable.

Pros:
Upgraded Siri
New features e.g. Image Playground and custom emojis
Cons:
Need to buy premium chatgpt for maximum use on upgraded siri
Prolonged use of AI drains the battery

# wide gorge Do you guys actually have a use for it?

I use it all the time - use writing tools multiple times a day. Use Siri instead of manually searching the web for answers. Don't have to pay for ChatGPT and since I don't sign in to it, everything that ends up using it is private.

Of course, the more I use Siri and AI, the less it needs to use ChatGPT - eventually, it won't need to use it at all.

Also, AI has almost no effect on battery life -- except for the nightly processing, but you should be plugging your phone in overnight anyway. Reports on the internet from people claiming that AI uses a lot of battery are incorrect -- what uses a lot of battery is graphics intensive apps - for example, games use a lot of battery, and for similar reasons, the graphics features like Image Playground will use battery too, so best to plug in if you're going to generate a bunch of pictures.

Notification summaries are a godsend as well. I have "Reduce Interruptions" focus set most of the time, and summaries of notifcations save me from having to read dozens of them. 🙂
