#MacBook Stick
387 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
It could be the little grip that's around the edge of the display
No like
When I open it
Physically
It sticks a bit
Like not sticky
Just hard to open for a quick second
I don't think this is a problem, it's probably just because of the extended period of time being closed. But I could be wrong
Okay another question
Yes?
I downloaded the latest macOS
macOS 15 Sequoia
With the Apple intelligence correct?
As long as you have a Apple Silicon Mac, yes
If it's Intel, your not going to get it
I have a MacBook air M3
15 inch
Ever since I downloaded that macOS
Whenever I open up my MacBook
It like goes black for a very quick second
Then goes back to normal screen
After that I type in my password
What version are you on?
After that it happens again
Screen goes black for a quick second
Then I’m on my wallpaper on my MacBook
The home page
Or whatever you call it
^
Go to the Apple in top left, then click "About this Mac"
Then it should say the version number
15.2 is the newest
Let me see
And I’ll send you a video about the issue I have
Since I don’t think you get it either
Due to how specific it is
If It's what it sounds, it could be a hardware issue, but I can't verify that for sure
I can’t send it files to big
It worked
Notice how it goes black
For a quick second
It’s macOs15 Sequoia
15.1
@lyric crow
I sent the video here
Is this normal
what do you want me to be looking at?
This
The way my MacBook is starting up
Is it normal?
yes, its completely normal, one thing i noticed though is it's really slow when booting up. have you heard of something called filevault?
No?
Nevermind, the bar is just indicating the time remaining time until you are logged into the computer.. has this recently been the case where the bar has appeared or has it always done this?
Update to 15.2
The screen was flashing, that isn't normal
clearly i missed that, he asked about the bar.
Remove this as it contains your serial number
ah
Yeah
i would not update to 15.2.. the computer looks far to slow to handle it. it may be able to handle it perfectly fine, but the more u update, the more pressure and strain it applies to the device, so i would probably refrain from updating the computer until it is completely neccessary.
but that is up to you.
Wdym flash?
You mean the black screen that lasts a second?
Is that the flash
You’re talking about
In the video, the screen turns off midway through the bootup
same thing for after it's already booted up
it took 5.82 just to dispaly his wallpaper and apps. something is not correct.
Are you talking about the black screen?
That lasts a second
Yes.
I would update to macOS 15.2. That includes bug fixes, new features, and secuirty enhancments. That is also gonna determine whether this is software or hardware related
Go to System Settings, then general, then software update
as i said before, refrain from updating till completely neccessary, if you arent nerded out about updates, dont, only do major updates, not beta, or . anything updates.
I just wanna stay up to date
like ios 19, sure, update, but 18.5 per say, wouldnt worry about it.
you are up to date... like jared said, nothing major came with that update.
And 15.2?
Same as 15.1?
watch videos on new updates, sometimes its just security patches the user would not even notice.
15.2 adds new Apple Intelligence features (Image Playground, Genmoji)
I have Apple intelligence but no idea on how to use it
yes, if you want that, sure, update, but if you dont know or dont care about it, dont.
But again that flash started ever since I got MacOS Sonoma
your computer only gets slower when you update.
That's not true though.
but whatever you feel.
Until I realized I could getMacOS 15 Sequoia
explain, i am not here to argue, i want to learn, why do you beleive it isnt the case. I am very open minded and would like to see your point of view.
Updates are supposed to help?
Maybe why
yes. but sometimes big updates can strain lower ended devices....
thats why big updates arent recommended
macOS updates aren't designed to slow devices down. I've been updating to every release for the last couple years and never had a issue. These updates fix things and vulnerabilities. So even if there isn't many new features, it could fix a big security issue
Then buy a new MacBook or iPhone or iPad
Zero-click bugs have been fixed in point updates in the past
But again you’re saying this video on what I just sent isn’t normal? @snow rivet
Yes, it doesn't appear to be normal
how so
It shouldn't flash that many times
heres how i look at it, advanced software takes up more performance than older software. Imagine an iPhone 13 Pro Max with iPhoneOS 1.0. It’s a massive overkill. Now imagine the original iPhone with iOS 15. Well, yeah... You can do this exercise for every iPhone and iOS version. if you had a iphone 6 with ios 18, it would not be able to handle it, now you cannot download it, in theory it would not be powerful enough to handle it, just my train of thought though.
It flashed twice?
take it to geek squad for a in-person expereince and have someone explain it to you in person as that could put a better understading on your issue, its completetly free for them to take a look at it.
The thing is, we are looking at a current Mac model. This case, the 15 inch M3 MacBook Air. it can very well handle everything.
It's not a 10 year old machine
yes, but do we know what model he has? maybe i missed it in the screenshot provided.
Yes
Yes
No worries!
do you see where im coming from though?
i do have a question about my phone tho.
Also when I do a MacOS update my MacBook used to shut down like sleep and then the MacOS update would restart
I'd probably open it in a new support forum post, so that it doesn't make this confusing.
?
can you ping me in iphone support.
Yes, but I can't create the post for you though
You know how when you don’t use your phone it goes into sleep mode like shuts down
Yeah, it just shuts the screen off
It doesn't shut down though
While updating it will restart a couple times
Then the entire MacOS update would restart
No
It doesn’t
I had to fix it
Idk why Apple does this
I'm not sure I fully understand what the issue is.
I would just update your Mac, see if the issue persists
When I install a MacOS update correct
It used to shut down like Home Screen would turn off
After I press a key the MacBook would turn on
Then the whole MacOS update restarted
So, when you close your Mac lid, it's only sleeping and not fully shutting down?
Is that what you mean?
Never mind
Also do you mind sending a video of you opening your MacBook
So I can know what’s normal
And what isn’t
It depends, what you did was wake your Mac from a shut down. I just put mine to sleep
I close the lid, then leave it
I know, but it depends on how you use your Mac. Are you shutting it down or are you putting it to sleep?
Ah, see you don't need to do that
Why?
You can just close the lid and have it go to sleep, it won't drain
Will shutting it down hurt it
I'm not entirely sure, but I wouldn't constantly shut it down.
I just want you to send a video of you starting up your MacBook so I can get a idea and compare it to mine
@latent basalt right Aus?
You might have to summarize for me I have no idea what’s going on
It's better to put your Mac to sleep than shutting it down every time?
I shut down mine
Why?
What happens
You can shut it down if you don’t use it for a extended time
I use my MacBook like twice a week
I see
Ah ok. well then i guess it's fine
As for your other issue, update the Mac, then see if it persist
Alright
But in case
Is it fine if you do send a video
Of your MacBook starting up
I'd prefer not to
What MacBook do you have again
14 inch MacBook Pro (M4 Pro)
Well it depends on the config and where you are
I regret not getting space black
I got midnight since it apparently reduces fingerprints
Space Black wasn't on the Air
I think it was
Yes
Mines good
It’s at full bar
Also is it safe to use my MacBook on wood
I have a wood desk
Yes
But it’s smooth
They have feet so the Mac enclosure itself isn't touching the wood
I also clean my desk with Clorox wipes any idea on how long I should wait until I put my MacBook on the desk
Last question
Yes
MacBook airs come with a 35W charger right
The M3
Specifically
From 0-100% it takes about 3 hours to charge
Or 2 hours and a half
Also I have no idea if Apple does this intentionally but is it just me or does it take an incredibly long time for the MacBook to go from 99% to 100%?
With batteries, they tend to charge slower as they reach 100%
this is for batteries in general
This even happens with electric cars
What about your MacBook have you noticed it taking a insane long time from 99% to 100%
I honestly haven't looked, usually when I charge I'm not using the Mac or I have it plugged into my monitor which charges my Mac all the time
The way I use it I never see that though, again, it's not a issue with the Mac. That's just how batteries are
Thank you for your time and patience
No problem!
Last question
It’s about the charger
Does it feel like crispy sound when you plug it in
Like you scratched your MacBook
I've had that, but there is no scratches inside the port
Overtime that could happen, but you can't really avoid that
And so as the bottom?
The bottom of my Mac has rounded edges, so it doesn’t feel sharp
Also how do people like script like I know how to script using LUA but like I see people scripting but like some app
I’m not sure about that, that’s not my expertise
Thank you for your time
You’re welcome, have a good day/ night!
Is there a way to stop my MacBook from like slowly going dark like the screen goes black
Like shuts down
Idk what it’s called
Oh, that’s when it goes to sleep
After a certain period of time
You can change it
Go to system settings, then Lock Screen, then you’ll find it
I just tried downloading 15.2
It worked but I realized it would need 30 minutes
So I press the small x on the corner
That 30 mins ain’t gonna actually take that long
Now the 15.2 won’t show up in software updates anymore
Do CMD R when in software update section
CMD is command?
Yes
It should work
Well I’d prefer that it remains cool, but if I’m doing something more processor intensive, then expect it to heat up.
Most people don’t want their laptop burning.
(With Apple silicon that ain’t a problem)
Also is it true that small things accidentally left in the MacBook when you close it can destroy your screen completely
With any laptop, you don’t wanna close the lid if there’s anything on your keyboard. Like paper or semi large items
Dust or crumbs aren’t going to destroy your screen
There was a girl on TikTok who said she left a small crumb of food on the keyboard of her MacBook she didn’t realize when she opened it the screen was destieyed
Must’ve been a big crumb
Oh well yeah it’s metal
Your welcome!

Yes?
I’m trying to buy something off the web
With Apple Pay
But I need to enable it for the web
How do I do that
Go to system settings, then scroll down to "Wallet & Apple Pay"
Well, I forgot what options there is since mine has been broken since Sequoia 15.0
There should be options to add cards, etc
Ah well, do you have cards set up in the wallet app?
Oh in your Apple Cash, well if you have debit cards or credit cards you can add them to the wallet app
Head over to Settings, then to the Wallet & Apple Pay section on your iPhone
Then?
You know what, I'm thinking of it now, It should just work on the web
there isn't a seperate toggle
@snow rivet
It's gettng declinded since you dont have enough money
Oh my bad, I was looking at the wrong charge
It's possible that site don't accept Visa? I'm not sure
I mean they accept Apple Pay
Is the issue due to this?
Just because they accept Apple Pay, doesn't mean they accept Visa
Nope
gotcha
Thanks
Yes?
I bought a apple Magic Mouse
And I’m trying to play Roblox but it won’t zoom in or out
And it won’t let me rotate the camera
In Roblox
Do you have right click enabled?
Go to System Settings, then scroll down to the bottom till you see "Magic Mouse", then under those settings there should be a option to enable "secondary click" @lyric crow
Make sure that is on
That's a personal choice, if you prefer it to act as a right click, set it to right
Right click or left
Buddy pls google how to work the mouse, or like read a guide or something
Double tap it, you don’t need to click it
To zoom at least
@lyric crow this should help you.
Got the Magic Mouse and missing the zoom feature? Here is how you can zoom on Mac using Magic Mouse.
Written guide: https://www.appsntips.com/learn/how-zoom-mac-using-magic-mouse/
This should help
I don't personally have a magic mouse to show you the setting, so this video will
Is it just me or is it that when I move my mouse like fast the mouse itself gets bigger
@snow rivet
That happens in macOS
for either trackpad or mouse
if you ever lose where the mouse is on the screen just shake it
So it’s normal that when you shake it like your mouse the mouse itself on the screen gets bigger?
