2017 MacBook Pro, Apple Refurbished.

I bought a refurbished MacBook Pro 2017 from Amazon and there are these little chips on it, the material feels like rubber but I would like to know if it is a problem or if it isn’t anything to be worried about

The rubber you are feeling is what cushions the display from the aluminum when the lid closes. Should there be chips? No, but it's probably damage from the previous owner

I wouldn't worry too much as long as there is some sort of rubber left

Yeah there is definitely rubber left and I’ve heard that you can get the rubber replaced for a decently small price

I would go with it until you notice that it's bad enough to replace, like the screen starts scratching or something

Alright I’ll make sure to just shut my screen more gently and keep an eye on it

Even if it is a problem, it’s not expensive to replace so it should be fine

Probably like $15 for the rubber and like $10 to get it installed

I’ve heard that it typically won’t get worse unless you pick at it or slam your computer shut so i should be good but thanks for the help 👍
