Hello,
I am looking to get myself an iPhone.
My current phone is a Galaxy A54, and I am currently trying out the „old“ 13 Pro Max of someone in my family. Do you guys think I should wait for the 17? An option would be to buy the 13PM from my cousin for 400€, and then trading it in, but I do not know how good the prices from the official store are gonna be when compared to any other shops, so that might be a risk. Waiting for another 10 months to get a new phone from my current A54 on is a long long time though. My main criterias are that I am really looking for the better front camera of the 17, but I would actually really hate a new horizontal camera lineup design as I really fell in love with the Pro triple camera design
#Wait for iPhone 17/Pro or buy 16 Pro?

Well, 16 just released a couple months ago so you’ll be waiting a while
A used 13 PM is not gonna be enough to cover half of the cost of a 17
It actually goes for 450€ tradein value rn
How much is a new 16 right now?
800€ and Pro is 1000€
Oh that’s not too bad
But I won‘t buy a normal 16 because 60Hz is 100% a heavy dealbreaker
Definitely don’t leave yourself waiting, I’d get either the 13PM or a 16/P now
The main reason I would wait is honestly the better front camera, but we don‘t know how big the differences are gonna be yet. It would also be a possible thing to buy the 13PM now and then trade it in for a 17/P
That could work if you’re determined to get your hands on a 17
Esp because the deal you have for the 13 is really good
And maybe better main camera?
That happens every year
It‘s 450€ for tradein right now, but the issue is that this binds me to the official apple page, which typically costs 200€ more
So getting that 13PM temporarely costs me around 200€ for those 10 months
How much do you value other new features?
I am mainly interested about anything related to camera
Stuff like Apple intelligence, action button, Dynamic Island, 48MP etc
I do not care about AI
alr
Then I can def recommend going 16 now
The camera system on that is phenomenal
Action button is a nice have, camera very very important, dynamic island is nice have, AI don‘t care
And I‘d not like that new camera design that got predicted by some renders
Front cam at low light too?
Those aren’t gonna happen just straight up
so this 13PM does take nice photos already, it just has some issues with oversharpening especially at night
I don't know how much better a 16 is compared to that though
well that looks insane
and wow the video stabilisation is insane
my old A54 camera looks like a joke compared to that one with video quality
well you can see that it has way less detail in stars
this is a photo I took yesterday, do you know what I mean by oversharpening?
does the 16 pro handle this better?
brb
okay sure, thanks already
Anytime
Much better
buy 16 pro no doubt
can you reason that over buying a 17 pro?
by the way, I just played around a bit and found out that using RAW photography and manually tweaking it in an image manipulation program HEAVILY improves the quality when doing nighttime photography
why wait a whole year if u can enjoy something already specd out really good, i have the 16 pro for over a month now and i really love it, coming from android (samsung user for over 10 years lol) and i dont regret tryinh something new, love all the features it comes with all the ui and layout stuff, even the photos app is cool for me its new and something nice to see.
i wouldnt wait a year longer to get a barely updated version of the 16 pro, highly recommend it
that's exactly me lol. I have only been using samsung devices so far
do you have any experiences with front cam in low light/club environment?
since that is my biggest reason to wait for 17
i think its really great
and the face id like wow holy molly
i thought it wont work in low light or even full dark BUT it does ! all the time
the camera app is really different if u are used to the samsung one
but if u are okay learning new things and how to use it on iphone its really cool
there are only a few features I am missing from my android
like, selecting single characters in a text
or the photos app, it really is bad
i think its not that bad just need to get used to it
have you tried out raw footage?
photo
i did of course
I am currently trying out the 13PM of my cousin, and I just noticed that RAW images are a GAMECHANGER for nighttime photography
it looks soooooooo much better than the default image
and Face ID, damn, it is so good
A54
okay so u will feel a big jump from that
i had a s20 fe
ah ok
smaller than what?
I think my A54 is a bit too large
but that 6.7" of the 13PM is way too large
coz i went from the s20 fe and it is smaller but just fits crazy good in hand
its fine for me i dont even notice it in my pocket
but weight is not really bothering me
have you tried shooting photos with your front camera in low light and/or club environment?
so, many light disturbances with different colors in a darker environment
a lot of people complain about the camera control button that they are touching it w their hand while holding the phone so that that is not true at all
yep and it is fantastic u can edit them really good
i dont have ones i could share
ok
but im not even using the front camera much
the 17 should double the resolution of their front cam, this would be important to me
but 10 months is crazy and it will be expensive at the beginning tooi
do u need that good resolution for front cam?
yeah
why lol?
because I like taking selfies with friends
and why not just buy a base 16 or the 17v
60hz, no raw footage
Which both are compleeeete dealbreakers
i understand
