#Should I get the AirPod Max now or wait till Apple updates them? Thoughts on iPhone 16 Pro? iPad?

Itās hard to justify the 200 bucks premium compared to other flagship wireless ANC headphones from Sony or Bose
Ofc⦠if you are hard set on staying in the apple ecosystem, thereās no true replacement
New color schemes were launched alongside the AirPods 4 reveal?
Thatās as far as itāll go for now I believe
As to everything else, itās up to your personal preferences
Considering your current apple ecosystem is entirely 120hz, Iād advise going all in for the iPad Pro instead of the air
it would be smarter financially to go for one of those options, however, I'm already so deep into the Apple ecosystem
Yeah
I'm just concerned that the hardware is a bit dated
It would make sense for Apple to release a new gen but they instead added USB-C
Forgot they haven't added 120hz to the iPad air yet, but the more I think I about it, the more I realize I could do pretty much everything that I would do on an iPad on my mac.
understandable
I mean, if specs are what you were looking for, you wouldn't be going with apple anyways. Their optimization make up for whatever gap in hardware. My main gripes with the Airpod Max (other than the non-existent value) revolves around the fact you can't turn it off, and how you are limited by apple's AAC codec.
Otherwise, the airpod max is pretty solid overall in terms of ANC and sound performance.
That case though... might as well call it a sleeve.
Ipads are not true productivity devices, unless you are a professional artist ofc. You should view it as an entertainment machine first and foremost.
The tandem oled display is simply on another level for content consumption
It is quite literally the perfect netflix machine š
True, apple products tend not to have the latest cutting edge features but for the features they do have, Apple tends to perfect them. Yeah, the price is what has always turned me away from purchasing them, even with the discount itās hard to justify them. Personally, I donāt mind the fact you canāt turn them off since I tend to always have a charger around and I donāt mind putting them back into the ācaseā after use.
How would you say the airpods max stand up against the sound quality and ANC of the airpods Pro 2nd gen? Are they still the better product even with a chipset that is a generation behind?
It doesnāt offer any real protection but, honestly, Iād prefer a sleeve over a hard case because of the space that it saves. If it came with a hard case, I wouldnāt carry them in it that often.
Iāve seen people connect the keyboard case to make them into a more portable ālaptop,ā but ipados really hold back the uses of the ipad even with its powerful chip
Havenāt seen it in person, but iām not about to drop a grand to just watch netflix in slightly better quality š
The xdr display on the new macbook pro is actually really good for context conception imo
So iām likely just going to stick with that instead of wasting money on an ipad
True, you could let it sit on low power mode all day. Doesn't beat having a power button though š
I tested them a while back, I can't say I remember it in detail really.
All I can say is that if you aren't an audiophile, both are more than adequate. It's close to peak "consumer" grade hardware.
I kinda see your point? Problem is the hinges don't fold so the footprint is bigger than a hard case anyways.
It's more than adequate for most people tbh
your typical student just needs to type word documents and do some ppts.
the m4 chip is fully leveraged for gaming so that's a plus.
any sane person would not do video editing on a tablet
ofc you shouldn't drop a band on a netflix tablet š
but if you wish to take handwritten notes and try digital drawing, Ipad's the way to go.
I use it to replace my 6 lbs gaming laptop for any lecture that doesn't require pc software.
It makes a whole lotta difference considering the distance I cover by foot on campus every day
I have a corsair headset and i never use the power button on that too š
iām a cs major and i like to mess around with the power of m3 pro during my free time on my mac
typical students could be fine with a simple dell laptop
honestly i donāt even be taking notes like that so itās likely just going to be a waste on money
and im horrible at drawing
true
multitasking on the ipad is also a pain
ipados is really not built for it
iām going to have to bring my macbook anyways since i live off campus and luckily itās not too heavy
so i think itās a def no on the ipad
Honestly, most would be fine with a chromebook lol
What do you even use to leverage your m3 pro though? Running AI models or games?
Gaming is the only demanding task my Ipad pro will go through... but it's a tablet so it's understandable
same... I just need a few hundred hours of practice. Should be easy š
its fine so long as it's below 3 apps š
The fact I can't use PiP with games kinda sucks, but that's about my only complaint.
Ipad OS 18 brought some nice additions. Too bad it got pulled because it bricks the M4 Ipads. Who knows how long I'll have to wait before using it.
That's a wise choice tbh, I would not have considered this overpriced thing if it wasn't because of how bulky my laptop is
depends a lot on the major but yeah a lot of students would just be fine w a chromebook
lmao both
when i was traveling out of country i was running games like gta on it to pass some of my free time
and now that iām back in the US i just been testing models
Yeah ipadOS limits the functionality so much that itās better to get a mac if you want to truly use all the performance
although the notes wonāt be the most organized notes that youāll ever see, i do like the fact that i can take all my class notes on one slim table instead of having all these notebooks and then the math notes seems like a useful feature although i wouldnāt say i need it at all
i thought it was only two side by side
their software development team probably stressing out trynna get all the ai features promised to everyone before the iphone 17
