#iPad Touch ID Not Working After Cleaning With Alcohol
40 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
youve probably messed up the sensor, with the alcohol, your only supposed to use a micro fiber cloth when cleaning areas or bascially devices. You would most likely need to schedule an appointment with a technician from apple so they could take a look at it.
You might be able to get it fixed by apple
You might try a 3rd party repair place
Probably, I would think it would wear out
Pressing on the sensor hundreds and thousands of times probably has an impact
For future reference, cleaning instructions for Apple products, including iPads is on the Support site at: https://support.apple.com/en-us/103258
Get recommendations and guidelines for cleaning your Mac, iPad, iPhone, Apple Vision Pro, display, or peripheral device.
Since you used a Q-tip with liquid alcohol on it, it’s possible that some of the alcohol got inside, and may dry out over time. In the future, follow the instructions on the support site — while it’s OK to use alcohol wipes, or even a cloth lightly moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol to clean and sanitize the device, you need to make sure it doesn’t get inside. I have one of the new M4 iPad Pro’s with nano glass, and use a spray bottle to moisten my Apple Polishing cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol when it really gets yucky.
If you can't unlock your iOS device using Touch ID, can't enroll a fingerprint, or you're asked to enter your passcode, learn what to do.
Every single fingerprint sensor I've ever used (except for optical ones) don't work with wet fingers
Also if you clean sensitive electronics with alcohol, you really should be using 90% or higher
That's one of IPA's main uses is to clean electronics
But you want really pure IPA if you're gonna clean sensitive electronics, or stuff with a lot of nooks and crannies. A fingerprint sensor is both these things
No
It’s possible. Maybe the alcohol leaked below the button.
Ah I see
Yes, it’s leveled
Is it hard to press?
I see
I’d still get it returned
That may be a problem
Ah ok 👌
First of all DO NOT CLEAN YOUR IPAD WITH ALCOHOL (any type). And i think its just that the liquid got inside the homebutton through those small holes and messed it up.. i suggest you give it a week maximum before using the homebutton because if you try to keep on clicking it its just gonna get worse inside….. btw i have the sane ipad (1year old iPad)
One of the primary purposes for rubbing alcohol is to clean electronics 💀
Awesome
who knows he must have put another TYPE OF ALCOHOL onto his ipad?
Are you 7 years old
no? Im actually 19. What about you “mrknowseverything” ?
Yk there are types of alcohol
- Don't call me Mr. anything
- Yes, I know there are different types of alcohol, I've studied chemistry
- Fixing computers is my livelihood, I know a thing or two about what IPA should and shouldn't be used for
- OP said they used IPA
- I'm not giving out my age, but if you took the time to read my bio, you'd see I'm an undergraduate
Also with your bio, your username, and the way you type, I seriously doubt you're 19
umm
dude it was just a joke also i am 19 and i had to keep my bio and stuff becuzse of a true or dare game
and i have to keep it like that for 3months
What
It’s a tech-support forum though not……
I don't understand what you're trying to say
This is not for arguments it’s for tech support.
That’s what Sam means
