i downgraded from ios 18 to 17 and im getting this notification now

Go to Settings.
Tap [your name].
Tap iCloud.
Turn off Messages.
Wait a couple of minutes, then turn Messages on.

by any chance does the "imessages aren't syncing to icloud" come up frequently or one time only?

also my icloud storage is full not sure if that's the issue

but it's been full for a while

try uninstalling apps that take a lot of storage that you rarely use.

#

same for the apps you use and is at the top of the usage list, reinstalling it clears lots of space since it's all app cache.
