AirPods Pro 2 connected to bluetooth while in case and not in use

So since a day or two I noticed that whenever I put my earbuds back in the case and close it, the AirPods keep being connected to bluetooth and therefore keep losing battery power without them being used.

I have tried multiple un-pairings and re-pairings without any fix. I also turned off the AirPods being in Find My and when I did that it actually seems to work and it works as normal again, when you put them in the case and close it they disconnect from bluetooth too, but obviously I doubt this is meant to be like that?

And obviously if I turn off bluetooth completely it works as it should be but I don't want to force turn that off just because of this, I have an Apple Watch SE2 and I would like that to connect with my phone through bluetooth.

I hadn't had the problem before while find my being on. I'm a new apple user and got my Iphone 15 PM in october and the airpods pro 2 in november so they are all still very new, I also got a case on both of them and keep them clean, cleaned my airpods and case thoroughly to see if that could be the case but looks like that is not it.

Anyone got this same issue or knows a fix to this?

So when you place the AirPods in the case, does your iPhone show that your connected to the AirPods still?

They are in the case now and on my desk and not being used by me

Funnily enough I did through chat in the morning. The guy basically said the same thing as you, that it was a very odd situation and it shouldn’t happen. I’ll try again through phone tomorrow. Hopefully they’ll be more helpful

happens with my pro 2's as well, shows that theyre connected even when in the case, but the audio will still play through my iphone

If mine have shown connected, they haven’t drained battery.

I honestly wouldn’t really mind it too much but am just annoyed that it loses battery without using it. Now I have to make sure I either turn off my Bluetooth or find my or charge them before a trip

Both my parents use the AirPods Pro 2 and the haven’t had this either.

Yeah this is exactly what I have to sometimes it shows and sometimes not. So I’m honestly not sure what the correct way would be

I have AirPods Pro 2 and It’s normal for it to say that. it’s just connected to show the AirPods and case battery. It definitely doesn’t drain the battery I use mine a lot but only charge once a week or two

oh i see, i found it weird because i went to sleep last night with my airpods being at 100% and then woke up about 8 hours later with it having lost almost 16% while being in the case and not being used. then I saw it was connected to bluetooth, it was the first time i saw that happen since i got them.

I think the only way i realized that was because I had a sudden drop of like 14% in battery last night, while the airpods and case were all charged to 100% and me going to bed and waking up with it being at 86%

yeah otherwise i honestly don't really care or check it, like im fine with it being connected to bluetooth 24/7 for the find my app and stuff to work but i never noticed it losing so much battery since i have them
