Is your iCloud photos turned on on your new phone?

runic bison
#

Yeah. I pay monthly for iCloud

#

On the website the photos are there just dunno how to get them back.

frank jay
#

if your iCloud photos is turned on for your phone go into your Photos app and wait for it to sync and then you can download them all off-line

runic bison
#

By photos app what do you mean

frank jay
#

Because what iCloud photos does is it basically makes your library a cloud library so you can access everything in the cloud through the Photos app on the iPhone. But the Photos app also allows you to download the pictures locally from the cloud.

Is your iPhone plugged into power?

runic bison
#

It was.

#

I was on 80%

#

(Now 50)

frank jay
#

It needs to be plugged in while it’s syncing. The iPhone needs to be plugged into power. And depending on your connection and your storage, sometimes it can take a while..

runic bison
#

How do I make it sync?

frank jay
#

Open up your Photos go into your library and scroll all the way down to the bottom and there should be an option that says sync now, tap on that

#

If it’s not there then you might want to wait a few days for your other phone to back everything up and then try it again

runic bison
#

It only says 161 photos not synced

#

And then settings

frank jay
#

You don’t see a sync now button in blue.

#

Next to the not synced message

#

How did you set up your new phone? Did you set it up as a new one or did you restore from an iCloud backup?

#

or did you restore from a computer?

runic bison
#

In the for you section all the photos are there. But not in my album

#

@frank jay

#

Is there a way to transfer them

frank jay
#

Not if they’re in the cloud no. It needs to sync on its own. Did you restore from an iCloud backup?

frank jay
#

Cause if you restored from an iCloud back up, you should be able to retrieve them as part of the backup. if you want to make things easier just if you want to though, you can reset your new phone and try the transfer thing instead of the iCloud back up. The transfer from iPhone to iPhone..

runic bison
#

What happened was I transferred the phone then only 110+ photos were on there

#

I tried to airdrop them from the website but it took too long

#

There 40GB worth of photos

frank jay
#

Yeah, so if you transferred from iPhone to iPhone, it will only transfer whatever’s on that phone at that time. so try the iCloud back up and see if that works. Because every time I restore my phone and I do the iCloud back up on my photos come on.

runic bison
#

Backup doesn’t come up

frank jay
#

You have to reset the phone again and set it up as an iCloud backup. Not a transfer from a different phone.

#

You’re not in beta on your other phone are you?

runic bison
#

iOS 17.0.3

frank jay
#

OK is your other phone still set up?

runic bison
#

Kind of but some stuff is deleted

frank jay
#

OK cause I was going to propose is make a back up on that phone and then restore from that back up on your new phone after you reset your new phone

runic bison
#

Ok

frank jay
#

Because the iCloud back up in my opinion is the best way to restore a phone after you get a new one because not only does it transfer all your apps in your home screens and everything but it also transfers your photos correctly it transfers your music correctly all that other stuff.

#

make sure you have a back up of that old phone though before you reset your new one so that way you’re not resending it for no reason you can check it by going into settings into your Apple ID into iCloud iCloud back up and then at the bottom you should see your back ups
