What does 5G Standalone mean? I see it on my iphone 14 pro max and I dont know what it does. Does anyone else know?

I know what 5G is, I mean the 5G Standalone option.

It means that 5G is independent network without use of LTE (because most 5G connection still operate with LTE support), it will should improve you "normal" 5G speed.

5G standalone or as it's commonly called VoNR (Voice over New Radio) enables you to make calls over 5G where previously it would just use LTE for calls. When you make a call your phone will stay in 5G and won't switch to LTE.

It's basically the 5G equivalent of VoLTE (Voice over LTE).
