Hi, my Apple TV has this beta build of TVOS 17. At one point in the summer, I factory reset the Apple TV. I never set it backup afterwards. Now today, I have attempted to set up the Apple TV, it wouldn’t allow me to pair my iPhone 14 Pro Max which has the iOS 17 RC build. Eventually I gave up and I manually had to setup the Apple TV without an Apple account because when I tried to login to iCloud, it would say unable to connect to iCloud even though I am using Ethernet. So now I am in the system, the OS is EXTREMELY buggy where none of the animations are working. When I try to go to software updates, I enable get beta updates so that I can get the RC build. It does find the RC build but when I press update now, it says “The update was not successful. Try again later.” How do I fix my Apple TV? Thank you.

Seems like some of the animations were working correctly in the video but that isn’t my concern. The system will be reset once I can figure out how to fix the software update issue.

Yikes… not a fun situation.
Other than restarting and resetting again I don’t know if there’s much you can do

So do you think the Apple TV is just a paper weight at this point?

Has the update downloaded?

Hence the TVOS 17 stable will be out today at noon, do you think that would be any different?

Likely not. RC and Final are often the same build

But I’m not sure

Yeah, idk. Message Apple and see what they say

Ok

#

I’m resetting the Apple TV again to see maybe that could fix it

#

But I doubt it

Yes, always try a restart

See if it happens to fix your issue
