Need help for buying a macbook

I need to buy a macbook which will be used regularly and I found one on the marketplace and it costs $128 dollars. (will use it for school only and not for gaming or maybe a little bit of coding)

I have no idea of the specs of this devices and the specs mentioned of the seller is MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core 15 Memory 10GB Storage 256GB SSD

It has an issue though it has an unstable charging pin but it works (so probably not a problem for me)

Do you guys think it's worth it? (check photos of the device)

id say it’s almost enough, if you could find 2013 then it would be good as that has support up until big sur (still being supported for another year)

and should be able to handle most of the things you may throw at it, albeit may be a bit slower compared to newer ones

also i think it has far better integrated graphics compared to the 2012 one

and the 2012 should also however the support is kind of lacklustre on it though as it’s only on Catalina. if you do get the 2012 one just use a different browser (safari is gonna be out of date) and be a little more cautious on what you’re going to download

safari alternative is orion browser as it is based on webkit and is still updating to this day

and it’s specifically for mac

well i found another one but a Macbook Air 2015 and it costs $260 and i am trying to negotiate for $220

yeah it should run well, it’s gonna have 2 or more years of updates and the specs are decent for the things that you are planning to do

may also be able to play some low end games if wanted to

yeah then I’d recommend the 2012 one as 4gb ram is gonna be a big draw back

or a 2013 one if you can

i found another one that costs $210 a macbook air early 2015. should i still consider going for the 2012 macbook pro?

yeah i think it’s worth it, it’s gonna be better than other windows laptops you’re gonna find in that price range

and is gonna be supported for some years to come (when updated to macOS Monterey)

and the i5 should be capable enough to do the things you need

especially bc it’s a newer gen core i5 comparing to the 2012 one

it heats up very fast

actually i did not buy the air and the first macbook pro (the first one that i sent) i didn't had a chance to buy it since the seller didn't reply to my messages and I just saw that it has issues like unstable charging and battery issues.

I actually found another macbook since I thought it's cheap and he's the only seller that sells it that low (that actually replies).

The macbook that I bought is
Macbook Pro (13 inch, Mid 2012)
2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
4GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

Bought it for $155
The only issue of it is that it has a different back bottom plate or case (the serial on the bottom plate is different from the macbook itself)

okay should be good, try it for a while and see if it works good for your needs

bc imo when i used the 2015’ they worked the best for me

bought it and upgraded its' ssd and ram and now it's good the problem is there are apps that are not compatible anymore with catalina. now i am planning to use opencore legacy patcher but i'm not sure if it's safe to use
