I think they're just suggesting a timer on-screen
(of course, if you open the game and see that it says nine minutes there's not much reason to not just reopen the game for a shorter time.)
is the game programmed like that though?

Isn’t there a set random time set for spawning chest hunt? I thought that’s how it worked

It is still random though it just shows the timer.
yeah and I think that would hardly matter at that point anymore if it is random or not
I mean that’s why this is just qol. This doesn’t really matter it’s just nice to have
I mean it being random, if you show the time it takes to spawn it hardly matters if it is random or periodical, you will always know when it appears
it removes all that anticipation you have when you get a soul bonus and pray for a box to appear in the last second or a chest hunt
it makes the game more boring, calculated
I still think this is the best option though
Will keep the anticipation and still give a hint or clue
depending on how it is programmed rn that could lead to needing to reprogramm it entirely
