I found lots of .yy files in my objects folders, apparently caused by myself copying objects over and over sometime earlier. Could they be possibly useful for any reason, or are they safe to delete by a shell script?

Make a backup of the entire folder, then try running this to clean them up

the ide has a thing for duplicating .yy files that it doesnt actually need

generally you can just delete the duplicates, or you can let yypmaker do it for you

thanks for the tips! I tried cleaning and the project doesn't look dead afterwards.

They're probably generated from an old old version's IDE bug, that I just didn't notice by the time, now GM doesn't create these any more, just doesn't remove them for me either. 🤪
