#Auto shotgun has become too strong

I think the last update for the auto shotgun made it a bit too easy to use. I’ve used it alot in competitive matches lately(1vs1), and it is crushing everything (we play without laser cannon and long range shotgun). It used to be a pretty fair fight against double railvolver, but now the auto shotgun is quite alot stronger it seems.
A bit unfortunate, as I thought that weapon was fairly balanced.

Also, was there made any other updates to weapons in any way, that hasnt been listed in the patch notes @summer flame ?

Don't think so, might slightly nerf the long shotgun in the future

In my tests with players the auto shotgun still underperforms quite a bit

The long shotgun is certainly powerful but I think it might just need a good counter

The same way the big light saber is super powerful but can be countered by shotgun

I don’t think we should opt for every weapon to have a counter. Instead, we should want every weapon to be pretty balanced against each other

what if imbalance is actually not a bad thing. If all weapons are balanced you got no reason to seek another, you got no story of overcoming an impossible situation, you got no laughs about someone still dying while using that stupidly overpowered weapon

There will be reasons to seek other weapons and one another if there is fast lava. Then there will be a fight for the high ground, and if the one currently holding the high ground uses all his ammo, he will have to seek another weapon. The same goes for the player contesting it. He will have to challenge the holder of the high ground, and often times, he will have access to the weapons that lays further down on the map, so he can waste more ammo when contesting. When playing competitive try harding 1v1(not for everyone, i get that), it's also alot about trying to bait your opponent into using all his ammo while you still have some left, or a sword. Then you can chase him down. At that point, when someone gets chased, they will often pick up any weapon just to be able to pose a threat towards the chaser. So there isn't really that much danger of not reaching for certain weapons.
Also, even though I say that I want balance, that doesn't mean that every weapon should be equal in all situations. Some weapons can be good in close range, some can be good when you are getting chased down, some can be good on longer range and so on. Of course there are limits to the situational differences that can be made, but this is the type of "imbalance" that I want, rather than some weapons simply being better than others in pretty much every situation. But it's of course not an easy thing to make it this way at all.

I guess I don't exactly see it as a hyper competetive game, but thats also why we have the ability to make your own presets and exclude the stuff that doesn't work for ye

Depends what you mean by "fun weapons". For me, some of the most fun weapons are the railvolvers. But they get extremely limited by certain stronger weapons - like auto shotgun after the update, swords, especially against the single one, but also against double really. Also against gravity saw, and even hecksaw. So yes, certain weapons might get limited by creating balance, but it also takes away the limits from other weapons

Mainly I think its okay to make one player overpowered/underpowered for a round because couple of rounds later its going to come back around

Yes, I have sort of understood that i guess. But I'm trying to get across that the game actually can be pretty amazing to play competitively, and it can be even more amazing IMO(as a competitive game), if there is a better balance to the weapons.
Of course it is up to you to take the game in the direction that satisfies you and the major player base, and it is a very fun game to play as a party game (4 players). But I don't think some better balance would take away from that party game experience.

But I'm glad that you have made it so that players can make their own weapon systems. That has made me able to enjoy the game

Maybe yes, but I feel like people would be more motivated to play competitive if there was some rewards or even a rating/ranking system connected to it. And I also suspect that people would enjoy competitive more if there were a 2 vs 2 mode, as I think many players simply find it more fun to play team games(always nice to have someone to blame). Not expecting this any time soon, simply sharing my thoughts.
