#Question About Vehicle Color Effects on Handling & Jump Physics

Has anyone else noticed that certain paint types seem to affect the handling or behavior of specific vehicles?

While practicing jumps with the Vigilante, I noticed that having the crew color applied made the car noticeably harder to control in the air, more bouncy on curbs, and unstable on landing. Switching to Chameleon and then Matte drastically improved stability and made it feel more predictable.

I haven’t tested Chrome or Metal paints yet — but I’m starting to wonder if paint types or even neons can subtly influence vehicle physics in GTA Online.

So I wanted to ask:

  • Can paint types actually affect vehicle physics like downforce, weight distribution, or bounce?
  • Could the crew neon also have an impact versus regular neon lights?
  • I’ve heard some racers only run neon on the front or back of their cars to shift weight — is that still relevant in current metas?
  • And apparently, some top-tier racers claim that Matte paint offers better lap times due to improved cornering — any truth to this?

Would appreciate any insight or tests you've done on this — especially if there's a meta behind paint choices most people overlook.

no to all those questions, like nfs and all other games like them, those just only cosmetic change, they don’t have any impact to your car handling, weight or anything like that at all.

The only cosmetic upgrade that has impact the car is spoilers which adds more traction.
those and off road tires, but off roads don’t change too much, like 0.0005% of handle (which means nothing)

# lucid wigeon What you’re hearing from is people who are taking for psychological perspective ...

It's not just psychological—Broughy literally made a video breaking down how different spoilers, bumpers, and even neon lights can affect a car's handling.

I tested this myself just yesterday and noticed a clear difference in the Vigilante’s handling in the air when using a crew color versus other paint types. It’s especially noticeable if you’ve spent a lot of time doing the high-speed jumps required in Vigilante speedruns—which, judging by your response, you might not have much experience with.

I’ve also heard from top-tier racers that Matte paint can subtly affect a vehicle's handling. While the difference might be minor, it's definitely noticeable when you're pushing for world record times.

And just to add—other people have sent me similar info, so it's not like I'm the only one noticing these things. There’s clearly some truth to what I’m saying.

And tbh it’s really about having skills in the game, if you have problems with it, you have a skill issue, that’s on you.
