I heard that Grove Street Games actually used an AI upscaler for the model upscaling during their remastering process, and if you know how these kinds of things work, you'll know that AI's aren't perfect, and there will be cracks in the automated process. Like, did they even have the time or care to actually polish up the upscaled models to better match the originals? Not even some of the storefronts are spelled correctly.

And keep in mind that Grove Street Games was the same studio behind mobile ports for some games, including mobile ports of GTA 3, VC, and SA.

And if you think that remasters mean complete OVERHAULS of the game's visuals, then you're sadly mistaken, no offense. Yes, remasters upscale the resolution (sometimes even the textures), but most importantly, a GOOD REMASTER has to keep the SPIRIT of the original while also playing better, with more stability and a better framerate.

But a better question is, which one looks more like a desert plateau, which even the level dialogue itself mentions this particular level to take place? When the remaster completely changes, and even ruin, the atmosphere of the original just because the developer wanted to add more foliage and more colorful lighting, you know you'd have a bad remaster.

Now let's look at another example, and see what's wrong with the Anniversary remaster.
