Popular opinion: they should make the under missions count as contracts for the main mission.

For example, you have to collect the three samples or whatever for Dre and each “contract” has three parts that take as long to complete as the contract if not longer.

What I suggest is instead of having to do three missions to count as one “contract”, those three missions count as contracts and make the old contract just a mission.

This would make it not take 10 years to get to 200 contracts
