Autoshop in gta gives u cars to fix up for customers, buy cars. It give's mini contracts that pay decent and are fast and fun to complete. If you go to car meet you can pay the $50k for car meet membership. That will let you get rep points to unlock things from races, activites inside car meet and also rep from mini contracts.
