Any business where you don’t have to keep spending money to make money is a win in my book. I only own a few businesses I actively run and because I don’t have to keep paying, every dollar I make is profit. As for upgrades, I don’t think you need any unless you want to speed things up a bit or pay for something that can be done for free. (If you pay for supplies instead, you are going to want to make sure you profit and in some cases that means upgrading)
